Screen rotation issue - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having issues with my screen rotating, it won't rotate at all. I've gone through all the settings and still nothing. Anyone else have this issue?

Have you:
-Turned the phone off and take out the battery for at least 30 seconds?
-Made sure the toggle for 'Screen Rotation' is highlighted in green?
-Try a factory reset? (Back up important data first, SD card will not be touched)
-Make sure your gyroscope (I believe that is the sensor for rotation) is working correctly by installing a 3rd party app such as androsensor.
If not I would send in your phone, that is if it is still under warranty.

Touchscreen freeze after standby

I've fixed the sod after flashing 2.14 radio on my tmous hd2. However, now when I return from standby, the screen turns on but I can't unlock it using touchscreen. I can unlock it fine if I enable the menu button, after which the touchscreen will still not work but menu button does. Then after about 30 sec everything works.
This problem only happens after being on standby for a long time, ie. 30 min plus. I'm using shubcraft rom.
Is this the freezing error from g sensor or something else?

I had the same problem... for some reason it went away on its own.... which probably means it will Come back on it's own but hey...
I'd look into the g sensor thing though.....

Try waking up the phone with the yes/call/send/green key. (Instead of no/hangup/red/power key)
Also if you disable auto rotate from settings display, you won't get touch freezes because of g sensor. You can try it.
You can even disable g sensor completely if you want, but you don't need to as auto rotate fix works.
Please provide feedback.
I've uninstalled some programs and changed the settings and it seems to have gotten better. I put back on the auto rotation settings and so far so good, so I don't know exactly what did it.

You may also take a look at your setcpu profiles is yore using it. My screen off profile was set at 245/245 and I had a lot of wake-problems. I adjusted it to 384/384 and it is 95% better. The battery barely suffers. Just my .02.

Yea I have it at 384-245. It's not too bad lately. I've updated the kernel again, happened once recently.

I've noticed that if your wifi is set to "always on" i get this error consistently. It went away once I disabled that setting.

Wi-Fi always turning itself on?? :(

Last night I installed a few toggle widgets. First for auto rotation then for sound profiles then the Bluetooth one and in the end for Wi-Fi.
However after installing the Wi-Fi widget.. I noticed Wi-Fi would turn itself on without even asking my permission. This I noticed when I woke up today morning and saw an unexpected amount of battery drain. I immediately checked and the Wi-Fi was on. I remember correctly that I had switched it off in night (which comes under my daily habits after hitting the bed). Anyhow I immediately got rid of that widget by uninstalling but issue still persists.
Can anyone suggest anything to stop phone from turning Wi-Fi on itself?
Below is the app and my Wi-Fi's advance settings.

By the way.. I must add.. My phone is totally stock. And I I have had no problems with any of the apps prior to installation of this widget.

Sometimes apps like this can be a little flaky. I have HD widgets that I use to turn on my wifi and it can misbehave also. I have compensated by having a app that turns the wifi off at a particular time of day. You can also set it to turn wifi off when the screen is off. Other than that I would suggest looking for a widget that works better. There is a ton out there.
It was my bad that I downloaded this widget. I don't want to download some app to ''manage'' Wi-Fi setting off. I want to make it how it was prior this widget installation... Turning on and of myself. Is there any way.... Without the help of another app or widget

I think i need to change KEEP WIFI ON DURING SLEEP option to Never.
Can anyone attach a snapshot of his advance settings in wifi option? Like i have attached above
I believe it's the "battery guru" app you have installed... that's primarily what it does, keep you on Wi-Fi as much as possible

Emmmm.. You sure?
Because it started last night after I installed that widget. It "never" happened before that. :s
Can u post ut advance settings page's screenshot? Just need to match settings.
Pretty sure... it was happened to me, I noticed it after the learning mode was completely

So far I think this was the cause.. Snapdragon BatteryGuru.
Go to the settings in BatteryGuru and turn OFF the "Manage Wi-Fi" option. It's been an hour I have turned it off and wifi hasn't turned itself on. Therefore, I believe this option was causing wifi to show up.
I remember a friend of mine turned this option ON (the same day when I installed that wifi toggle). I just realized that after reading QUIETLYloud's post. Thanks a bunch mate.
This will help people in future.

Good app for airplane mode and phone signal turnoff?

I tried a couple of apps or widgets for airplane mode, but for some reason I couldn't even get them working. Could someone recommend a good app/ toggle / widget?
Also is there any app or widget to turn off the N4 cellular signal receiver?

long press the power button?
^this, or pull down the notification centre with two fingers.
Did you try Widgetsoid?
I do the "Power Button" for Airplane Mode.
For Mobile Data:
Widgets > Settings shortcut > Data usage
When you open it, you can turn on and off Mobile data, and still use WiFi and receive calls and SMS messages.
Didn't Google prevent non root apps from activating/deactivating airplane mode with Android 4.2? I just use Tasker with the secure settings plugin
Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I really appreciate it...
I still haven't found one app that would allow me to put a toggle on the home screen so that with one touch I can turn off or on the airplane mode. It seems all the suggestions require two or more touches?
Is there any toggle that with one touch on the home screen I can turn off/on the whole mobile network (not just data but also calls/messages) with wifi remaining on? I can't believe such a thing doesn't exist!
Try "Widgetsoid" or "Extended Controls". Been using them heavily before and they work pretty well. Although I havent tried recently since I went with a minimalist home screen.
Try power toggles.. U can add a lot of new ones in settings

Am I the only one wondering why he thinks having to do 2 touches actually is a problem?

thanks for your opinion. OK, not a big deal with two touches for the airplane mode. Care to share your experience regarding the following question?
Is there any app with which one can turn off/on the whole mobile network (not just data but also calls/messages) with wifi remaining on, regardless how many touches involved?

I use power toggles and the airplane toggle is not a true toggle. It takes you to the menu.

Location method problem

When I switch to 'Power saving' mode under Location method, my GPS is switching on too. But, Power saving mode is WiFi + mobile. When I switch off GPS, the whole Location thing is switching off.
I can't find something about this, so maybe someone has an idea?

Try resetting the phone by taking the battery out when on
Thanks, but didn't help. And I already have done a factory reset and formatting

Sorry I guess I misunderstood your question...
If you tap off the toggle that says GPS, yes that turns off all locations services... Is working as designed.
Really strange.
I got 3 options.
1. High accuracy (wifi+gps+mobile)
2. Power saving (wifi+mobile)
3. GPS only
You're saying, that option 2 is not existing?
It should only use wifi+mobile. NOT gps.
So it's not working properly. Before the update to NC9 firmware, it was working fine.

Quoting you..... "When I switch off GPS, the whole Location thing is switching off"
Yes that is how it works, if you tap the GPS toggle from the notifications......
Now... for this..."When I switch to 'Power saving' mode under Location method, my GPS is switching on too" let me do some test and get back to you...
Well, yesterday I flashed back to the NC4 firmware and it's working again

Flashed another NC9, and again the same problem. Guess that's why there are so few NC9 firmwares.

[Problem]Screen Rotation

My wife's S5 screen rotation isn't working. I wondered why she sent me an upside-down picture the other day, and then she complained about the screen last night, after she used my phone to look at a Facebook post. I've checked all her settings and everything is in order. Does anyone have a clue what could be wrong?! Seems the sensor isn't working, but don't want to hassle with a replacement, unless I'm sure.

You can check priority from "setting" option in your phone.
