Hello,,
Is there a ny answering machine which can send pre recorded voice messages to the caller when the phone is busy or in silent mode
Kindly reply
Thanking You
I have also been looking for this, too cheap to pay for voicemail and google voice isn't available in canada. If anyone developed one I'd buy it, theres one app in the play store but it doesn't work with qualcomm devices:/

Hi I just want to ask if any of u make to skype work ? i download the version for version wireless bat not success thanx for help
Won't work cause the Verizon version uses Verizon own voice connection to handle the call. Also the app dials a specific Verizon number when you make a call. So it will never work on anything but Verizon phones

Just unzip it and get the *.apk to the phone. Then you can install it. The app is working great for me but will it work over WiFi? When it asks for your phone number, is that supposed to be your cell or Skype DID?

I have a skype apk and it works, its a BETA but it still works you can chat and call, I kept the apk for awhile, there is another that you can only chat with this one you can make calls. I can send to you if your interested.
It is awesom BETA Skype. I through I was dreaming.
I was about to start hating Skype but now it is all changed.
All i wanted is to be able to use Skype while at home or work and chat with my family abrode skype-to-skype.
I have a question, it asks for the phone number when I login?!
Should I enter my cell number when I do that?
Like for example +1858 and mobile number?
What is this number for?
Is it for caller ID to be displayed if you call land line or mobile?
My second question is can you make land line or mobile calls from this version or just skype to skype?
When I installed it asked me if I wanted to all Call IN and that it would use my Skype Credit minutes for it?!
How does that work?
could you send me a beta skype thingy? Would really to call my family overseas
(does it work over wifi? or minutes)

Its your phone number that skype people can call you at but you will have to pay for these calls. Skype works for free only between registered skype callers so the first think you need to do is register online at there website, during this time you will need to create a "name", its like a member name this is how skype people call other skype people not with an actual phone number although you can buy a phone number so you can call non members and non members can call you through skype. I will send you an email with a link to down load the apk. You do need to enter a phone number when logging on I just put my real mobile number, actually its my GV number. But when first running the apk you will be asked who you want to call you, choose "only skype members", unless you buy a number but like I said you will be asked to fill in a phone number.
I just tried the app and unfortunately it totally sucks ;-(
It is trying to imitate Google Voice with the call back number.
Basically it uses your voice service and does not work on wifi or 3G to make calls even skype-to-skype totally lame. What is the point?!
Thank you brie987

Pretty cool, so is this meant to be used on your PC? Or can you place calls for free using gmail on your phone?
I just saw this in my email and had to try it out!
It's pretty neat!
can't wait until we get in on our phones!!!
I've had the google voice phone number on my G1 for about a year and the match ing google voice app. And now have it on my Vibrant. It is really nice.

This is meant to be used on the PC. If you already have google voice, then you just install the new video chat add-on (linked to in first post) and you're all set.
Anyone you call will see your google voice number pop up. You can put in a phone number or the name of one of your google contacts.
This is a good way to communicate with people without having to leave your phone on speaker or break your stride if you're working on the computer.
pretty sweet...doubt Google's going to bring it to phones though and upset the apple cart with carriers
just wanted to know if incoming calls through your google number is free as well?
i know that outbound calls are free through data, but what about incoming calls in which your google voice number is forwarded to your mobile phone when someone calls your google voice number?
is that free or there is charge for that?
thanks a lot , i wish someone could give some clarification on this

Call your GV # from your house phone and find out. I remember trying it out like 2 days ago, I think it uses your carrier's plan minutes.

Google voice is a cloud-based visual voicemail manager and can be used as a call redirector to redirect incoming calls to one or more devices capable of receiving voice calls.
Google also supports direct phone calling from the desktop (but not currently from non-phone mobile devices).
What are you trying to set up?

people have made the Galaxy Tab working with Google voice.
Make and receive calls from the Galaxy Tab with Google Voice
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItTIswb1AnQ
In that video he is using a SIM card from a device with voice + data (which you can not get on the Tabs original SIM card. (Which is why is is "stuck on 2g"))
There are fixes and work-arounds that allow the 2g + voice option and they can be found in this forum as well as the development forum. Currently, there is no known way to do voice calls + 3g on the tmobile network (which I assume you are on because that's what he is on in the video)
Google voice is simply a redirector, it is NOT a program that makes phone calls. In order to use it, you still must have a number to route to and from.
Hope this helps.
What the OP may be thinking of is integrating Google Voice with a VOIP provider such as Skype or pbxes.
If that is the case, there are a number of excellent tutorials already on this forum explaining how to do that for different VOIP suppliers.

U didnt have to flash any rom nor root. All u need is to read the bible in Dev sticky. Instruction is in one of the links at the bottom of 1st post

this is also worth a read.
What can also be done is, if you have your tab set up to be a phone with any of the "free favourites" plans is to have GV send you ITS number instead of the caller's original number so that all incoming calls are free.
Similarly, if you install GV on a phone, you can set it to intercept all outgoing calls and forward them to a special local GV number - which I believe can also be added as a favourite - thereby enabling free calling within the US.

Is it possible to make regular calls from the wi-fi Acer tablet? Like maybe from Google Voice?
I beleive the answer is Google Voice, which doesn't work on tablets, but if you google around you'll find hacked versions for Honeycomb that might work. Those allow you to do incoming calls, but for outgoing you need a dialer, and there is a program on the market called GrooVe IP which does what you need. It's cheap, about $2 or something. Your phone number would be your Google number, and you have to have it set to forward calls to Chat. I also think you have to log out of all your other Chat sessions on other computers for it to work. I played with it but gave up for now and am hoping Google will bless us with a fully functional version.

Technically you should be able to call with skype, need to get credit first or subscribe to premium also there is another voip app like buster which also works with credit on your account.

I will look around for the hack. I will post it here once I find it.
I don't have voicemail service with my cellphone. It's too expensive. But I do have unlimited text messaging. I was wondering if someone calls my phone and I don't answer, instead of directing the caller to voicemail, can my phone automatically send them an SMS saying something like "I can't answer my phone right now but please type your information and I'll get back to you."?
Yep. Install "tasker" from the play store and then Google what you are trying to do. Pretty easy to get working.
