Weird phone reset - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering if anyone has has this happen...My Note 3 was just sitting here doing nothing (rooted, 4.3, BajaRom10, xposed mods) when I notice it reboot and go to the original Verizon splash screen and that wallpaper it came with that's in all the ads.
Safestrap 3.63 installs but won't boot into recovery and all my mods are gone (including Nova Launcher and any account info for gmail etc).
Coming from the Droid X to the Note 2 on launch and now with the Note 3 on launch, I've seen plenty of strange behavior but this has me stumped.
No new apps installed...seriously no changes for at least a week.
Do I odin MJE? I'm dumbfounded.
Update--restarted the phone several times and it just booted into safestrap...whew
Update #2--restored to a recent backup, rebooted to the same out of the box state. Definitely odin time.
Final update--forgot to wipe after the backup--works now FTW
Thanks

VZW SCH-i800 (7.1) 2.3.5 flashed but retains old wallpaper/FC apps!!

Hey guys. I have a very interesting situation happening with a VZW Galaxy Tab 7.1 that I bought from someone (I own a business buying/selling/trading cellphones and tablets)..
As soon as you boot it up, every app starts to force close!
If you sit there long enough and accept them all, you can actually use it a little bit. Apps keep FCing as you play with it, though.
The only noticeable thing is that the wallpaper always stays the same. It was 2.3.4 (I believe) when I got it, but I've tried flashing stock ROMs and the Galaxy Cubed 3 ROM through Heimdall, but that wallpaper ALWAYS stays there!
I just flashed the Galaxy Cubed 3 ROM on there 20mins ago, and everything switched over (the look, the battery icon, notification bar, window animations) EXCEPT that wallpaper (which ironically is of B.I.G.) and the FC issues.
I read somewhere about JTAG or something, but it boots fine, just having software issues.
PLEASE, if anyone knows anything about this issue, I need to sell this thing so I can make some money =) Thanks in advance for the help!
im in the exact same boat with a customers tablet. ive tried everything. takes forever to boot and factory reset does nothing. 4 installed apps never uninstall either.
Do you have custom recovery installed? After flashing with Heimdall, enter custom recovery and wipe data and cache. Reboot. No more issues.
I can't find a way to get custom recovery to flash. I've tried every walkthrough. There's no explanation as to why factory reset/wipe doesn't work

Random Reboot survey

Hi
I have had a Note 4 for months, and have only started having random reboots a week ago.
I have flashed 3 roms since then with full factory / data / cache wipes, and the problem persists.
Other people have had this problem with Stock KK roms.
I think it'd be useful to find out what are the most common scenarios,
KK Lollipop Stock Custom or some app or other issue that you think is suspect, so fill in the poll and comment.
Personally, the problems started around the time I was playing with lock screen replacements... My Locker pro... but it is now uninstalled and I am still getting the reboots 3-8 times a day. I am baffled...
Mark.
It would also help to ask what version of Note 4 they have.
On the Note 2, there was also a random reboot problem and it was associated with Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS). Mine was one of them.... I hope this is not a symptom of SDS
Last night I flashed
[ROM][N910F][ALEXNDR] ★ BOC3 ★ DevBase, Multi CSC, Safe De-Bloat
and so far so good... no random reboots.
First I flashed the ROM, then I flashed the Kernel, Modem and Bootloader which are also linked to on that ALEXANDR thread. I don't know if this made a difference, but it takes a few seconds, so do it if you are desperate.
After booting up, I restored all my apps, as usual, with titanium backup.
Holding thumbs...

S5 Verizon randomly restarting

So, I bought an unlocked and used Verizon s5 from eBay running lolipop 5.0 and my friend rooted it with king-root via Odin so I could remove some installed bloatware other then that it was a stock rom. It was fine for a month approx the Verizon pushed a voice mail app/message update and now my s5 randomly reboots, gets caught in boot loops and earlier was getting "system process inst responding", and battery power changes from charged to low levels.
I have taken my sd card, taken out and reinserted the battery (only have one so cannot try a new one), wiped cache for recovery menu and even factory reset the install king-root app one touch root. any help would be appreciated.
Random reboots normally mean kernel errors same as blue screen of death on windows so I would recommend reinstall official lollipop firmware via odin then Reroot

Note 3 Will Not Boot, Can Not Boot Into Recovery (Loops)

Hello Folks,
Looks like I borked my Note 3 tonight. Was attempting to install a new ROM and things didn't go well at all.
Phone was last running BajaROM 4.4.2 with Safestrap as a virtual recovery.
After a failed install of a new ROM from SS, I tried restoring from the backup file I just made tonight before upgrading the OS. Failed. Then, from SS, I wiped the phone and attempted to install the old AllianceROM, and it too, failed. When I went to reboot phone to see what would happen it simply loops the custom Note 3 screen, then blue text Recovery appears in the upper left hand corner, then repeat. Can't boot into recovery, and now, can't get back to Safestrap. All I got is Download mode when I pull the battery and hold Power/Volume Down/Home when I reinsert battery.
I'm following the guide at this link currently, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483380, but have to wait over an hour for the stock Android firmware to download from one of the few hosting servers that still have one of them loaded.
In the meantime, is there anything else anyone recommends? This is my primary device so I'm kinda screwed till I can get it back up again. Any additional info would be appreciated.
Thanks.
For anyone reading who might be in a similar predicament, the soft-brick fix at the link above got me up and running again. Got the Note 3 running on stock OF1/5.0, rooted, and am now looking into unlocking bootloader so I can properly upgrade to 6.0.
A little disappointed no one bothered to respond in what could've turned into a bad situation, but the site itself did bail me out so no big complaints. Thanks to all the devs for their hard work.

I337 extreme lag, random reboots, no recovery

Recently bought a new out-of-the box Galaxy S4 I337 from Amazon. Had i known how much trouble it would give me, i would have picked something else. When i first turned the device on, it was almost totally unusable due to lag and random reboots. Software version was 4.4.2. I used Odin to flash a rootable NB1 onto the device. Still had lag and random reboots. Upgraded to lollipop using this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/help/guide-att-samsung-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337-t3383078 and still have lag and random reboots. Also, the first time i upgraded to lollipop, i installed safestrap not knowing it wouldn't work on lollipop. Obviously, my recovery disappeared. When i figured out what was going on, i did a fresh install of lollipop. I got recovery back, but today when i tried to boot into recovery to wipe the cache, i discovered it had mysteriously stopped working again. If i attempt to boot into recovery, it just skips to the Samsung logo. I didn't install safestrap or any other custom recovery this time.
When i turn the phone on, either it hangs at the AT&T white splash logo and refuses to load at all, or advances to the lock screen. I have disabled animations and every widget i could on the lock screen and yet when i attempt to unlock the phone, it usually freezes. If i repeatedly swipe the phone for thirty seconds or so, it unlocks but it is still frozen and i have to continue swiping to prevent it from locking again. Eventually i'm able to navigate the phone normally, until it randomly reboots or freezes. Sometimes i see an error message that Touchwiz home, Process System, or SystemUI has stopped working or is not responding. This is always accompanied by a freeze. Also, choosing an option in the dialogue that comes up when i press the power button (shut down, reboot, etc) invariably causes the device to soft reboot. Other times a soft reboot happens totally at random, even if i'm not doing anything. Anybody have any idea what's going on or did Amazon just sell me a dud? All of these issues have been happening since before i rooted the device or upgraded it, except for the disappearing recovery mode.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sounds like a data factory reset is in order. First you need recovery back so I would odin the latest firmware for the phone that can be flashed in odin. If it's still messing up then get Amazon to replace it.
Since you have safe strap though, try booting a TW based rom like Thor ROM or Golden eye ROM. That may fix some things.

Just wanted to bump this to thank you for your reply. Never got the phone to work but i was able to get it back to stock and return it. I got a refurbished S5 instead.
