Apps update notifications and OTA problems

Hy everybody, I need all the possible help here. I got a huge problem with my s3. Since a bought it I've never received an OTA update even though I should have received 3 of them (2 ics 4.0.4 and a 4.1.1). Always updated via kies or at least Odin. Why? Never rooted my phone, everything has always been stock. What's the problem? Second problem(the worst for me) is "app update notification". Same thing here, a never receive notifications in case of an update even if settings are set to notify me and automatically update but nothing. The only way to update my apps is to go inside the store and check my apps. Only if I reboot the S3 sometimes I receive a notification. I've tried tons of hard reset or deep cleans but never solved the problems. Is there out there a genius who can help cause I'm going crazy about these two thinks here. Please help me. What's the problem? How can I solve it? Thanks in advance.

I understand what you mean. But try to do a Factory reset from the Phone itself under Setting-Backup/Data and then Wipe Data/Cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Once you have done so. Re-flash your real Firmware through ODIN and make sure your device status is not Modified.
If the above does not work then Go into Emergency Firmware Recovery from Kies, type in the details and it will restore it to factory settings from Manufacturer then update it via kies or OTA.

Bumping is against the rules ..
OTA you may have no OTA or the vendor is not pushing updates OTA .
Like i have FOTA and Kies removed on my phone as standard as i use XDA firmware .
Your best bet would be to check the vendors forums re the OTA update disabled and check a Samsung forum for Kies updates .

Get SuperSU Pro from the Play Store, tick OTA Survival in the settings and update away. Did the same today and I kept root.

It stated to download automaticlly, and it was at 8% when i saw it and i stop it.

You still have to confirm you want to update, so don't worry about it downloading the OTA.
And yes, you must buy it. I'm not going to talk about illegal stuff here.
And I'm sure it works, because I just said I did the same today. From 10a to 10f with a D802 international, I kept the root.
Even if you did lose root, who cares? Just run IOroot again and you have it back.

What is new on the update?

You can use OTA rootkeeper
it's free

By the way I just got the OTA and restored the root with the same app

I had this update too and now my phone is stuck in TWRP. :crying:
If anyone knows a solution, please help!!!
I Don't want to reinstall everything with sideload or other because then I probably loose all the data on it

NEVER take an OTA if you do not have stock recovery!!
I'm afraid this is a hard lesson for you. Maybe flashing a .kdz will fix your phone.

I don't see any difference at all, it was already blazing fast.
So far I can see it added "Do you know?" and it moved the settings cogwheel in the notification area a little more to the left instead of it being centered. Haven't noticed anything else.

This update u had has made your software version to what region? I might want the kdz file if your version is the EUR one..

I got am error when updating... then when the device restarted, a message appeared saying that mt device is rooted and the update will not proceed.

Just make sure you have stock recovery, root doesn't matter.

Is it possible to install the stock recovery over trpw

Well, in my device it fails and it says that it wont update because it's rooted! :|
I don't fell like erasing everything with the stock rom, just to do a minor update... When LG releases kitkat, I'll do it.
Or, is there any quick unrooting method that doesn't involve to erase the whole device?

You can try installing SuperSU from the Play Store, let it remove other root apps if it asks you to. Then in the settings you can tick full unroot. Maybe that works?
Otherwise don't bother updating and do it when KitKat is released like you said, I don't think this update is worth flashing a kdz.

Problems with rom d80210f-466-92

Hello guys,
I need some help. Yesterday I received my new LG G2 D802 which ive imported from Hong Kong. It came with "d80210f-466-92" rom and ive been trying for hours to change it to a dutch or european rom but it wont work.
I did a factory reset through the menu and installed the LG Mobile Support tool and the drivers. Ive been running UpTestEx and it seems to be running the update but after turning on and doing a complete wipe (with the down button and powerbutton) the rom remains the same. Ive been trying this with the European rom and the dutch rom but no succes. After the update it starts up in chinese/korean or idk what language that is and the rom remains "d80210f-466-92" . Does someone know what might be the problem?
Does anyone know this rom? I seem to find little information about it and more people seem to have trouble witht this rom.

Does it come up with 10f or do u update it? I have the same g2 but im on d80210b-466-92 and i havent got any updates

My G2 is from Singapur,i can flash all Kdz for D802,from Holland,Italy,German etc...

grab a open europe kdz, and flash via return to stock way stickied in general. Then you will have europe rom. But first root and backup your emei off the phone on your pc.

I think I have the same issue.
My new LG came with D80210b-466-92 firmware and I flashed it with the UK T-Mobile version - also tried the Eur open version.
However, while the phone took the firmware upgrade, its still showing the old version of firmware i.e. D80210b-466-92. I've done the hard reset and the phone restarts in Chinese. Once I change to English its fine and all the Chinese apps are gone but its still showing the old firmware???

OK, I think I can (sort of) answer my own question.
I just updated to Kitkat. The software info says its on 4.4.2 and the software version is d80220a-466-92.
So, there is no doubt that the firmware has updated, but it seems like the version number xxxxxx-466-92 probably doesn't.

Just upgraded my tablet officially via the PC suite no one seems to have announced so thought I would share its pretty awesome! :good: :laugh:

Can you post your PC setting? My upgrade stuck on 26% and that's it.... Tablet stuck at download mode and I can't do anything.

I connected LG G Pad on pc and run LG support tool, LG support tool then reported that there are new update for g pad, then LG support tool downloaded and updated my g pad in 19minutes without problem.

After that I used IOroot25 to regain root.

Use LG Mobile Support Tool to upgrade and reroot with iOroot25 works fine. You do not lose apps or data.

3g dongle connection
Will it work my ZTE MF110 after updating to 4.4.2 via LG PC Suite? On 4.2.2 i used ppp widget to connect to internet via 3g dongle.

Italy OK: Update + re-root!

In Slovenia it is also possible to update it via the LG PC suit (it doesnt recognise the update if you try to update via the tablet though).

Got the KitKat update installed yesterday via LG PC Suite on my LG-V500 and have few notes.
Settings/Printing menu was empty, should have had Cloud Print there by default. Got Cloud Print from Play Store. I had HP Print Service Plugin installed earlier and it must have conflicted the Cloud Print, I had the Cloud Print set up and printers listed, but nothing would print until the HP app was uninstalled.
AnTuTu score was 22137 with Jelly Bean and now 22346 with KitKat, so no improvement there.

Useless updates..

Hi everyone, today morning when I take my phone in my hand after awaking I had see a popup was appeared which says New firmware & software updates are available for download and install.. I was really feel glad that I m going to make my device Kitkat 4.4.. anyways I had start downloading, first the firmware has downloaded which was 22mb data download and install with my permission. . Device rebooted and after reboot a new popup appears with software updates, which was 138mb data.. I continued this download also and installed quickly.. device rebooted again and install all downloaded software data.. after all of installations I goes into about phone to check what have I got.. that was really shocking for me that I m still on 4.3 jellybean.. I have checked out my whole device and nothing new I had found.. I don't understand what the hell of this update affect on my device.. no one new app aur setting I had found.. the bugs of 4.3 are still irritating me as previous.. I don't know what kind of joke samsung sent me in shape of updates.. we all Grand 2 users are waiting for Kitkat update since last 2 months when a rumor appeared on Internet about Kitkat update for samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 and Grand 2 also.. and today I got this useless joke.. what do u think???

It's true about the waiting but SamSung hadn't never said officially about kitKat for grand 2.
Also there are many phones which doesn't get updates.
And also keep in mind that kitKat updates minimum size is for moto g (i tHink) ie. 230 or something. When touchwiz modifications are added it will be 450mb+

All apps are same as previous, all settings are same as previous.. the known issues of 4.3 are still we have.. so what is this kind of update??

Hi..Updates need not be new apps...It can be A Stability Update to Ex: Improved battery backup , Ram management etc etc in whole it need to be a new features or new apps... Of course sometimes it can be
