You should be fine by flashing this stock kernel via recovery.

That's why you should make backups.

[Q] Can i make wipes from Stock recovery?

I have installed this ROM in my defy red lens (not defy+)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285007
But only with "nandroid" backup, so i can downgrade now (to froyo, for example)
My question is... Can i go to stock recovery with this nandroid to make wipes? Will i loose downgrade ability? Will it change BL version to BL6? Will i get bootloop?
Thanks in advance...
Anyone?

You can do wipes from cwm right as long as you intend to be in that ROM. That was just nandroid, nothing will change to your bl versions, you can always go back to stock by installing full sbf.

Downgrade from 4.4

I had flashed bootloader & radio for 4.4, but want to go back to 4.3 this is what I did:
1.flash philz recovery
2.flash bootloader z20i with no luck error 7.
3.flash radio .84 ok
4.flash 4.3 ROM
5.Flash gapps.
6. See if boot.....yesss
Pd: I am worried, will I hace any trouble leaving the last loader?, how could I downgrade. Do you think 4.3 will run with last radio & loader?.
Thnx

Yes u can flash via cmw.
Create a man droid before you upgrade, if you don't like 4.4 just reload it.

[Q] Can't enter recovery after root???

Hello
i have rooted my i9505 in odin with CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505 which went just fine. Then i have downloaded root check and it confirmed that the phone is rooted. After that i have flashed the newest twrp which worked fine by odin. Then i wasn't able to enter recovery so i flashed philz_touch_6.04.0-jfltexx but still can't enter into recovery mode.
I have searched the forums and have figured out that there is such a problem with at&t devices, i am on a normal gsm/4g device from australian stock.
Any ideas what to do to get this fixed? The stock Rom is horribly slow and bloated.
TIA
Flash official stock firmware and start again, please follow the steps correctly that been described in the thread of the recovery you want to use.

You should use 1.85 only for cfautoroot, and 3.09 for the rest (3.09 was made specifically for i9505 and 3.07 for i9500).

[Q] upgrade with old bootloader

Hello, I've got an I9505 MH8 stock rom 4.2.2. Rooted with safe root and knox not voided.
I want to know if it is possible to upgrade to 4.3 or 4.4 but maintaining my current bootloader so it can be possible to downgrade.

I think
Maybe use stock custom touchwiz
Wanam, omega, etc.....
Yes. I m on old bootloader to. I m using the custom rom echoe v16 the 4.4.2. All works fine. You should try.
Enviado de meu GT-I9505 usando Tapatalk
I'm also on old bootloader. You just need to find a custom rom, whether Touchwiz or AOSP based, that doesn't require you to upgrade to the new bootloader. Use a custom recovery and flash it.
An example is Goldeneye rom found in Android Development Forums.
The echoe v16 doesn't require new bootloader, but on instalation you need to chose custom and on kernel option chose jeboo kernel

4.4.3 coming this week

Time to start prepping for an OTA. Memory serves, you need stock bootloader, remove root, and xposed to be able to take the OTA. Sound right??
http://www.androidcentral.com/motorola-pushing-android-443-week
Stock ATT 4.4.2 (165.44.1)
Unlocked Bootloader
Rooted via SuperSU flashable
TWRP 2.7.0.0

Based on the past OTA's....
Yes stock recovery is needed, but you don't need to remove root, xposed can be disabled, you need your bloat on there..
For more, see -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-OTA.html
Oh, and for anyone who had 4.4.2 on their phone, then partially downgraded (i.e. flashed only parts like system.img, etc from an older rom) successfully, taking the OTA now will likely brick you.
I SBF'd to 4.4.2 I'm rooted, have Phil's recovery but no xposed. Unlocked boot loader Dev edition
Based on your post I have two options.
1. SBF the stock recovery and take the update.
2. Wait till the sbf for 4.4.3 to drop and flash that.
Please confirm or let me know if I'm wrong and if there are any other options, do share please.
Great news. I only want slightly better battery life and better camera.

I'm running the soak test right now. Smooth sailing so far. I used rsd lite to flash the sbf file and everything went fine

Will someone release this as something we can flash later or is the only way to get it via OTA? Also, if it is released on here later about how long would it take?
T-Mobile/Unlocked only right now it seems. Which is fine.
AT&T, Verizon and Sprint probably have to wait a bit.
i'm ready. got stock recovery ready to go. just gotta flash my own 4.4.2 dump back on there and i'm good to go
Where can I get the stock recovery from?

Find your carrier and the Android version you want the recover.img file will be in the .zip
Also, does anybody know if a custom kernel (specifically the faux kernel 007) will interfere with an OTA? If so, where can I find the stock 4.4.2 kernel?

So I should just be able to fastboot the recovery even though I'm rooted using the original ROM?

I believe so, but I'm a noob compared to some of the other people here so I wouldn't take my word for it. What I did to update to 4.4.2 was flash the stock recovery via Recovery Tools (now Rashr) and everything worked fine.

Unzip the sbf file and find the boot.IMG. that will be your stock kernel. Flash it with adb.
