Something is seriously wrong with my battery life - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My battery life on 4.3 stock was 8 hours screen time (half brightness I believe)
Rooted and flashed a custom rom and kernel 7hr30min screen time
Flashed different kernels dropped to 6hr max screen time (without factory reset)
After installing Xposed and many many modules the screen time kept dropping to like 5hr to 6hr
Updated to KitKat and rooted 4:30min to 5 HOUR MAX screen time PLUS phone got hot ALOT OF TIMES
***RIGHT NOW*** Flashed a custom ROM HyperDrive with Colonel X latest and Compulsion latest BOTH 3hr30min to 4hr30min MAX screen on (EVEN with Jovy23's kernel settings that got him AMAZING battery life with ConservativeX governor - It still did not fix the issue not even a little - I still like Compulsion which was awesome when I was on jellybean) :'(
All this is under one day. Same settings for all the above set ups. Whenever I flash a ROM I ALWAYS clean flash and I DO NOT have Titanium Backup NOR do I use any other restoration app. I tried to clear and format every partition. I formatted SD card. SAME issue. I am frustrated by the battery life; it DOES NOT last me a day when on stock unrooted it was easily 8 hours. Also I do not use auto-brightness cuz the sensor uses more battery, so it was on half-brightness)
Someone please help me. The worst thing about a phone is the battery life. I usually browse Chrome and Facebook and for these simple tasks my battery dies quickly (WTH?!). I can't even think about gaming (and I REALLY want to GAME), but I know the battery life would die so much.
Is my phone defective? I tripped Knox. I already had a warranty replacement in like the first 2 weeks cuz of Knox issues stock. WTH is wrong with my phone. I want to format and clean EVERY SINGLE THING on my phone to get it the 8 hours screen on time I used to get. No matter what I do my battery life right now WILL NOT go above 4hr30min to 5hrs screen on. I used to watch Netflix for quite a while back on my stock Jellybean / rooted Jellybean days, now it dies extremely fast.
What should I do? I was thinking of flashing AOSP so it cleans up whatever Touchwiz and Samsung related is on my phone and then re-flash touchwiz so everything is set up correctly. I tried to use the mega-wipe script for a certain Note 3 model but it stopped at like 10% to 20%, so that route did not go well (I manually wiped everything data, internal, etc, before flashing many ROMs and this problem persisted).
I cannot do anything good on my phone until this issue is fixed. I hate clean-flashing and setting up things (I think titanium backup and stuff screws up your system) all the time. I cannot game, I cannot download good apps, I cannot do anything that is not online based or can be backed up online. Apparently my battery state is stated as "good" on the system.

I don't have time to read the whole thing, but I only got 4 hours of screen on time with JB, and about the same on KK so.. Maybe you were just lucky pre-KK?

[Q] JPF problems

Situational update: I am now running JPM. GPS problem fixed, but battery life is a complete nightmare: full charge during night, 8 hours later only 30% left (after 2 reboots because the battery dropped suddenly) with only 3G running.
I am using Quick Settings, Titanium, K9 Mail and nothing else. GPS is not on. Wifi is not on. What can I do? Also, phone temperature is rather high compared to 2.1.
Old situation:
Hi everyone!
Firstly thanks for all the info on the i5800, I have read a lot & come to understand everything better.
I am a complete n00b so sorry for any dumb questions. I recently upgraded my i5800 from stock 2.1 to FROYO.XXJPF as I had problems with the files of JPM (no .tar, no idea how to make them .tar) via ODIN. All seems to work well except three (important!) things:
- GPS doesn't fix, even with Octy's both apps & everything else I have tried
- phone temperature is through the roof, feels warm all of the time
- battery life is shortened considerably: full charge yesterday until 9AM, at 10PM is was at 10 percent with 5' calls, bit of browsing, 10' of tinkering with GPS. After reboot I had 30% battery life. I then installed CPU Tuner & still have 30% 12h later. Temperature is also down because of CPU Tuner when the phone is idle but when I start using the phone it heats up quickly again...
GPS is a big thing for me, so too is battery. Anyone any ideas? Typical JPF issues?
Also, when I did the upgrade to JPF, I had an /esf backup, app backup & contacts backup but all the rest was gone afterwards... Is there any way to keep app settings (e.g. email account settings, ...)?
And, is there an alternative to ROM Manager that does work for our phones?
Try out the Custom ROMs...Kyrillos ofc.. the best stable version out there!
if u have problem about this ROM...just PM me...

Hi,
First of all I would advice to install JPM, not JPF. The rar from samfirmware does have a tar inside and it can easily be flashed using ODIN. The link and instructions are on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778880
Also don't restore any backups after flashing a new firmware, you may be creating version problems restoring files that are meant for another firmware.
If you want to backup your contacts just export them to a .vcf file in the contact app and import them later from the file after flashing.
Finally, do a factory reset and wipe the cache before and after flashing.
So shut down the phone, hold home + vol.up + vol.down, turn on, select factory reset from the recovery menu, then select wipe cache.
Then shutdown the phone, hold home + vol.down, turn on, connect usb to computer. Flash with ODIN.
After flashing do the factory reset again with same method as above and after reboot import contacts from .vcf.
That should give you Froyo without any problems.
Thank you both.
Bakayoyo, I just followed your instructions and am now booting a factory reset/swiped cache JPM. I will report back! Thanks for your detailed & clear instructions, that makes everything a lot easier...
Lastly: I keep having the issues with the JPM download via the XDA-thread. Via the Samfirmware website there is no problem... The download there is just a .rar that unrars to a .tar package.
EDIT: GPS is functioning. Will report back for battery life & temperature. Thanks a million, Bakayoyo!
Ok update time. Battery problem still occurs: full charge tonight and at 60% after 5 hours with only 3G running and nothing else... I had adfree installed, threw that off. Now only Titanium, K9, Quick Settings running. What to do and what is causing this? Phone feels hot too...
EDIT: see first post, now at 30% by doing nothing, only 8 hours after full charge...
It is better if you use task killers. I am using jpm and my battery is fine gives me a whole day even with 3g. Apps running in background consume battery.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
I did some research and found out I probably screwed up with settings in K9 as I had push accounts poll every minute...
I have 3 push accounts that are now only pushing and 1 POP account that is set to poll every 5 minutes. I'll see what this does to battery life, as I did not even get 12 hours of only 3G before it fell out today.
I read a lot of warnings on ATKs on 2.2...

r u sure? i dont think so... if u kill apps running on background, they will reload later again itself. and killing and reloading apps all the time is consuming battery
Well when you use apps like facebook, music players, video players etc. They run in background even when not needed to. For backgrounds services you have task killers which have options of not killung these services. Personally i kill each app and service. Due to this my battery life has been extended by a whole.

Try InDroid 3.0 . Any version.(There are 4). GPS Perfect! About battery life , User review is enough.
GPS is fine since JPM.
Battery was being eaten by K9, even with correct push settings. I uninstalled it, and went back to standard email app. Result: phone temperature back to normal, battery life back to normal. So all is fine now! Only issue that remains is that incoming calls screw up the battery meter, reboot fixes this (this was already an issue in stock 2.1). Very annoying!

[Q] [SOLVED, kinda] Weird battery drain for no apparent reason

Hello all,
I own an international N9005.
Up until recently, I used the stock Samsung ROM with good battery life.
A couple of weeks ago, with no apparent reason, I started getting horrid battery life - in access of 10% drop -per hour- in idle (as opposed to 1-3%).
I removed more-or-less everything, disabled more-or-less everything but nothing seems to work.
Got root (there goes the warranty) tried looking for Wake-locks and nothing. The Note3 is 97% (!!!) awake even with everything disabled, and in the wake looks screen both user and kernel I only see 1-2 minutes (!).
Tried resetting the ROM, tried installing other custom ROMs (X-Note, Omega, etc). Nothing seems to work.
Currently I'm running Omera v20, with *zero* applications installed (including all the Google and Samsung applications beyond Google Playstore) and all external services (location, WIFI, et-al) disabled, my note 3 is still 95-99% awake, and the list of wake lockers is, errr, empty.
FWIW I'm ~100m from the nearest cell tower.
EDIT: According to battery meter, Android OS is keeping the phone up.
Any ideas?

Indexing your external SD maybe?
You could try the link in my sig and try again for your custom ROM.
First, thanks all for taking the time to answer.
I'm thinking about getting a new battery, but my gut feeling is that its not the source of amazing battery drain - ~20%/h while completely [!] idle (auto-sync/location/etc completely off).
I've attaching /d/wakeup_source in excel format sorted by count and total time - in-case someone has any idea what's completely broken.
As far as I can see, qpnp-vadc-ebd30a00, sec-battery-monitor, mmc0:0001:2 are the main culprits.
nicholaschum,
Before I attempt a complete wipe (as opposed to the normal wipe data / cache), how can I detect if someone is indexing my sdcard? (which may account for the mmc0:0001:2 in the wake lock dump).
- Gilboa
I know this is a long shot but try turning off developer options if you have it turned on(especially force gpu rendering). Somehow I found out that when I turned it on and the screen is idle. I get a battery drain. Not as big as yours. But not really sure because if I use the phone, the battery is actually pretty great(an hour of screen time is about 10% even more with internet apps like facebook youtube chrome etc.).
Clear cache. I know this is too common but it actually works for a lot of people.
Lastly, try airplane mode overnight and see if it doesn't drain. It might be your network that is causing the drain.

Hi, basically just check your phone using BBS (BetterBatteryStats), and see which individual process is eating up your battery.

Already installed - together with WakeLockDetector.
Short update, out of pure desperation I completely wiped the phone (including sdcard), tried installing stock ROM and, err, Odin failed. Managed to get CWM running again and installed the latest CM nightly.
...
As weird as it sounds, going from NF4 based ROMs (including stock) to CM nightly dropped to idle battery usage to ~2-6%/h, a huge drop from ~20%/h.
I'll update and mark resolved if this situation holds (crosses fingers).

I heard there were problems with NF4 battery. But I haven't been on TW since ND4. No matter what on Note 3 TW the battery sucks. AOSP is great. But actually S5 port has the best battery.
Solved, at least for now.

I use Nova (and not TW)
Either way, latest nightly seems to solve the battery drain problem completely - using the same Nova and system configuration (widgets, active syncs, etc). Currently I'm at ~1.5-0.8%/h when idle with no issues going into deep sleep.
Seems that my specific model really dislikes NF4.
Thanks again for trying to help.
This thread has been quite helpful as I was suffering with a Battery Drain after the NF4 Upgrade.
Planning to go back to ND5, which was the last stable version.

I was thinking about doing the same, but in the CM 11 runs circles around both NF4 (duh!) and my previous ROM (not sure which revision it was) - plus I can actually get 2 days of standby time, even with the old batteries, so I'll stick with CM 11 for now.

Android OS consuming huge amount of battery

hi guys first of all i apologize for this post not having detailed info such as ss from BBS,GSAM and WLD and will post them later !!
and as always i guess with most battery related problems it happened suddenly and i really mean suddenly the day before yesterday everything was perfectly fine and i didn't have that ridiculous battery drain !!
i woke up yesterday only to find out that Android OS is taking more than 50% of battery usage with a drain like 20% over night
restarted many times and by the end of the day i installed GSAM and WLD (wakelock detector)
froze most of apps including the ones i installed recently but i didn't install that battery hog apps (nothing unusual) and also they didn't appear in partial wakelocks section of BBS
btw i don't use any fake battery extender tools or memory boosters it's just Greenify
i observed that sometimes when i unlock my device (i use knock code btw if that matter!!) wifi gets disconnected and reconnect again (wifi icon disappear and re-appear again in 3 secs or so)
i'll upload ss in a couple of mins
thank you
Edit: SS Added
and notice how it drained 5% in just 40 mins (20 mins SOT) !!!

I had the same problem with battery drain(although not as severe) along with huge data consumption when using a significantly modified(i.e. heavy debloat and ota disabled) rooted stock rom. I tried a few customs roms and dorimanx kernel(not at the same time), and even though battery drain wasn't as bad, they were are waaaay to buggy to be used everyday(especially the dorimanx kernel, it's really bad).
Just last week I tot back to KK and ota updated to the latest LP rom(lost root unfortunately). Then I uninstalled/disabled every app I could/needed. Everything is very fast, smooth, and stable again. I now lose 1-2% every 8hrs in standby with syncing and wifi/data enabled, bluetooth and nfc disabled. I regularly get 5-6hrs sot over 48hrs with moderate use and brightness on auto.
I do have a new battery though - my old one( came with my "refurbished" phone from freedompop) gave me 2-3hrs of sot - but that was when I first got it and before I started modifying anything.

How is dorimanx kernel bad? How many user downloads he has, lots and lots then are we thousands of user wrong using a bad kernel, come on . Maybe it didnt work for you. But out of those thousands of users cant be wrong. If it was that bad no one would download. Just saying , you should just say it didnt work for you.

Thank you very much
My G2 (vs980) has also been suffering from a sudden battery drain. Android OS and Android System seem to be the problem. They are now second and third on the list of battery usage, after the screen. Before now, they were never that high on the list. I noticed this last weekend, when I kdz to the latest update for the vs980, which is 3AA. After noticing this, I flashed the xceed kernel, then cloudy with dorimanx kernel, and the battery drain continued. I even kdz back to kitkat, still the same, then I flashed AICP 11, and still the same battery drain by Android OS and system. Finally, I restored a backup of stock lollipop 39A but, the issue continued so I turned on airplane mode and it seems to help a bit. I still notice battery life isn't the same as before. The os and system still drain more than usual even on airplane mode.
Kind of glad to hear I'm not the only one with this issue. I don't think I need a new battery, since I bought the phone new in April 2015 from Bestbuy.
Also Gsam, shows the temperature of phone between 80°-90°F, where before it would be in the low to mid 70s. One time, it even got up to 104°F, funny thing is, it doesn't even feel that hot in my hand.
Hopefully, we can find out what's causing this because I really liked the battery life on this phone. Even when people complained about the battery life being worse on 5.0.2, I was pretty happy with it. All my previous phones can't compare to the g2. Now I feel like upgrading though lol.

When I tried the version that was out a month or two ago it wasn't nearly as smooth as stock, even after conservatively messing with the kernel app settings. The worst was that it also cut out tethering and my flashlight when the screen shut off. Maybe the recent updates have fixed some of the issues, but I doubt it. Could be that he doesn't have access to the sprint variant which I have...
Either way, just because 'thousands' of people use it doesn't necessarily mean that it's good - 99.9% of those users have no idea how to code or how a kernel is written. Their knowledge goes as far as following picture guides online - which a 5 years old could do. Just look at the most recent change log - those 'fixes' were to glaringly huge problems that shouldn't have been made in the first place and people were blissfully using it the whole time. Think about how many thousands of other bugs their must be. Not to mention hacking up code made by professionals at huge companies could lead to many other problems. Obliviously the stock kernel has bugs as well, but it works and is fast and stable so I see no need for using a hacked together kernel made by one amateur that doesn't even have my version of the phone to test it on. I wanted it to be good - which Is why I went to the trouble of installing it, but it's definitely NOT.

I uninstalled ALL of the stock apps that can be uninstalled. The ones I disabled are aosp keyboard, app updates, browser, calendar, cloud print, favorite contact widget, google play books, games, movies & tv, newstand, google+, lg voice command speech pack, music, music(the widget - it always runs in the background even without being on the homescreen), notebook, polaris viewer, quicktranslator, swype, talkback, voice command. I would have liked to disable a few more but I'm not rooted so I couldn't.
I use nearly all of the google products like chrome, gmail, calendar, docs, keep, music, photos, news and weather,translate,etc...so having the stock lg ones enabled was redundant. I also only have the bare minimum of installed apps that I need. Nearly all of them are made my major corporations i.e Chase, BofA, ebay, paypal, freedompop, microsoft, swiftkey etc. I have NO games or any small apps that need a ton of permissions. The only small apps are feedly, print hammermill, privacy flashlight(240kb, no ads, no permissions) and bubble level(180kb, no ads, no permissions).
I also go through every settings in every app to make sure it's what I want. And I restart my phone every time I take it off the charger. IMO having a clean and no frills system that is set correctly is the key to performance and battery life.
I just want want to clarify that I average 4-5hrs per 1% in standby since it doesn't seem to hold as well as it gets closer to 0%.
theres this app that have lots of info on battery..
thx guys for adding your experience
i hoped moded kernels would've reduced that amount as they should have necessary drivers for wifi which was somehow got messed up but from your reply i guess i've to look somewhere else
idk how to put this, well this isn't a solution at all i actually didn't start working on it yet just thought to share what i found so far !!
so it's just a reference for any one whose luck was bad enough to have a wakelock like that !
1st of all in most cases neither the device nor it's battery are at fault *you need to understand that*
faulty battery doesn't show up kernel related wakelocks instead they drain without a reason so i hope ppl stop accusing battery in every battery drain thread!
2nd after understanding that you'll have to deal with the environment your phone is used in
to put it simple it's your router and all devices in your current network !! (idk though why not all devices get affected by that or why it just started now, tough luck yea)
those threads may help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31975007&postcount=2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/getting-rid-wlanrxwake-wakelocks-t2519294
what i'll try to do is add an old access point to my router and connect my phone to it as i don't have a replacement router right now!!
i'll let you know if things were improved !
hey guys
i thought to share what i did so far and before i go on there is a bad news and a good news !!
i would start with the bad news first !
-no rom could solve this issue so you don't really need to format everything and start from scratch especially if you didn't mess around too much and you found it started suddenly like here, i've tried couple of roms including latest CM13 build it wasn't that bad but it didn't solve the drain that much either !!
-now some ppl may see this bad and some may don't care (which means good!!) google services are the ones responsible for this drain
well man you didn't come up with anything new and i see you've got a problem getting straight to the point besides you talk too much
i'm sorry
now you have to sacrifice your google services background sync including "GCM" if you are using any services similar to pushbullet or notification mirroring you'd understand why it's important
anyway if you are good with that you may install and yea it works with latest google play services
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playfulgeeks.gservicefix
and do as instructions (and believe it'll work if you did steps right)
if you prefer manual way then you'll need "app ops xposed module" and deactivate every "wake up" permission from google services
this guide may help but remember we don't have tools natively in our roms so don't bother downloading "shortcut maker" and go through your settings app to find "privacy guard" or "app ops" we don't have those natively like them
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-google-play-services-battery-t2832525
i'll share some ss from stock battery stats
i'm sorry for my long post and i hope it'll help someone with same issue
idk if it solved issue completely but things are stabilized a lot now and i just lost 1% over night not 20% or 30% like before !!
and i'm using lollipop now so i guess it's not that bad for what i heard about bad lollipop battery since it's my first time trying it !!
and btw real SOT should be +40 mins so the real SOT is 2H-47M cuz i restarted my phone to apply that fix and for some reason battery stats doesn't stick between reboots !!
if anyone interested in trying that rom it's for D800 only btw and thx to @Swetnes for his work rom feels pretty stable and solid :good:

Graphical corruption and random (frequent) app crashes?

Hi everyone,
So I have a really really strange issue with my phone lately and that is: I get a lot of graphical corruption and random app crashes (any app, including system apps like the Samsung or Google ones), I did in the past do some overclocking but that was way more than 6 months ago and this issue just popped up about 1 month ago and my battery life is now also really short and the phone can show 40% and shut down or show 20% and shut down and then when I plug it in I get the battery charger indicator with 50%+ battery left.
Now here's an even weirder thing: that is not specific to any ROM and happens on more than one, any TW 5.1.1 ROM I try and even on CM13.
I do use multi-boot but I did test the ROMs even without a multiboot environment and those things still happen.
So I was thinking that it might be that my battery is dead (although apps say it's healthy) as I've seen phones doing that when the battery is close to dead but since I can't really purchase a new battery in my country I would like to ask if someone has an opinion on this?
Could this be a hardware defect or something broken in my "hidden" Samsung-specific partitions or is it just the battery, has anyone else encountered this?
I really would like to know how big of a chance it is that my phone is somewhat of a brick before wasting a lot of money to buy a new battery from an other country.
As you can see most of the photos I took have either missing letters or strangely colored letters but that's because that's the graphical glitches I get most, the worse ones have big parts or even half of the screen totally black, UI elements extended awkwardly with gray outlines, strange colors on-screen and missing whole UI elements.
Sorry for the potato quality....took the photos with my Redmi Note 2 with CM12.1 instead of MIUI7 cause I am too sleepy to wait for it to reboot into the other ROM (and I think I wiped the whole cache+dalvik on my last CM update so the boot would take a long time since it would need to do the whole optimization for MIUI7 as well).
Also a photo of Settings crashing, all I did was just open it, saw the settings list and after a second crash.
NOTE: I am on a 100% clean install right now (wiped EVERYTHING including internal storage) and I barely even managed to get past the setup wizard since it kept crashing.
Thanks for any help/opinions/ideas.
No one knows anything?
How can I get it
Sent from my Q510s using XDA Free mobile app
New battery and did a full odin reflash (with SEA pit file), even updated to 6.0, bugs still here but way less frequent, crashes not here anymore after update to 6.0 but still here before even with a 5.1.1 reflash and clean install, seems like the phone is as good as gone, will try to send it to warranty to see what happens but don't expect much since "Knox Warranty Void=1".
Lesson learned: if such bugs start popping up for any of you guys even if the battery is not in a good state you'd end up better just buying a new phone since your note 4 is quite surely done and gone.

Downgrading, Upgrading, Disaster, But a beautiful phone. And Some Crazy Questions...

DOWNGRADING TO LOLLIPOP:: --- B151 from B331
I got it all sorted fellas.
Went to the 5X Repository. Downloaded the Stock 1.51 firmware. Placed the "update.app" from it under "dload" on sd card.
Opened up SuperSU on phone and went to settings to remove root and reboot.
After reboot hooked phone to computer and adb flashed the stock 1.51 recovery found in the repository. "same method as flashing twrp, only use 1.51 recovery.img instead"
Reboot phone again and then powered off.
Hold Volume up/down and power to restart and it updates form the 1.51 stock firmware on the SD card WIPING ALL DATA.
Now fingerprint and all factory settings are restored!
Thanks to all, and hope this helps others coming back from Marshmallow or CM13 like i did.

Figured the above was an important surprise for some of you... OP still valid
Hello Everyone! Im new to the whole Honor 5x thing, coming from an m8 now, and before that a nexus 6, and before that a z3 then before that an S4 and before that an HTC Evo 4G LTE... Along with some minors, LG Risio, Moto E, S5...
Im just happy to say that so far I really enjoy this phone! Within the first few days of using it on Lolipop, i was getting 1d 15h type battery life which if youve looked at the phones ive mentioned so far... Really..really..wasnt what I was used to. A Day? For sure, the htc would be at 18% getting back on the charger... and it would die at 10%... with how long id had it. But... A Day was doable.
Ive been looking for a phone for SOOooOOO long now that had good enough battery to last a day at max brightness... Tweaking kernels, and Installing various ROMS (all of them per device)... Crack Flashing, as some would say. It just became a hobby... Ive noticed many weird things about the community, to those reading... let me list them now...
1. People all of the sudden(within the last 2 years?) prefer stock android over anything, regardless of what additional features are being added... Such as battery life improvements, Multitasking improvements, theme improvements, usability improvements... People like stock android... hmmm?
2. People want to be nexus so bad they will theme other UI's to death, just to make it look like stock, generic android... hmm..
3. Battery life, while a common complaint, seems to be indifferent to how frequently people update their phones.. (note: Marshmellow EMUI has a multi core battery bug, listed on XDA under mods..) or what ROM they choose (note the most popular rom being one with significantly worse battery life than stock)
4. Security improvements are completely unnecessary to the community (note the most popular rom being one that hardly supports the fingerprint sensor)
5. No matter how many bugs (even those listed in OP) people will always flock to the latest update of android. And then subtly complain to the developer about the bugs they already know about..
Such a strange mixture of people...to be sure.
However what ive noticed here, is a complete lack of readily available information, so i am hoping some of you might be able to assist me.
TL;DR
So I succeeded in downgrading my phone from MM to LP, as the battery life thing is a legit problem for me, as much as it may not be for other people. However the fingerprint sensor has been disabled, and no longer exists in the settings list... nor is it part of the startup. (confusing to be sure, you would think it would be there, and just FC when clicking on it were there to be a bug, or if the OS didnt detect the sensor or something... it should still be there yeah? If i understand how it works...
Also I cant seem to flash a B151 rom at all, being on B33...3? <- marshmellow... and im assuming at this point that means i wasnt supposed to be able to downgrade... (oops)
So i got TWRP installed (whats up with all the random errors twrp is throwing? Assuming thats normal...?) and am awaiting a BMarshmellow rom to finish... Which leads me to...
Where are the Emui ROMS? Unless its closed... but if this rom maker can do it... ?
and also, is the fix to the battery life on marshmello noticable to those of you who also care about battery life at all?
Marshmallow battery is really bad compared to lollipop.. we had a BIG.little concept that worked great. But Huawei decided to make it a 8 Core CPU even when idle. If someone could make a kernal that activates the 4 BIG cores only when needed it would be approciated! Stock it runs almost always with 8 cores and the highest freq. This phone is really let down by poor software..

Well there is a fix for it in the mods section that fixes battery. Finally got this phone back to functional lol..
Anyway, the fix for the moment anyway looks like it works, just has to be redone every reboot but really isn't that hard. After applying mincores mincpu 0 the big cores only light up when necessary. So far its helping a lot with battery life at least noticeably. Listented to music the whole way to work this morning and was still at 97% when I got there (I have an hour drive) , and that's using Youtube Music over 4g.. Not too shabby.
Yesterday I got to work doing the same thing on marshmallow at about 85-90 so it is doing something, and watching Kernel Auditor shows the big cores turning off when not in use. Worth checking out, applying the settings that are mentioned there don't do much im afraid, as I cant get them to stick through a reboot yet.
Currently writing an init.d script to make that happen every boot.
For now to my knowledge though it is working. Though I think lollipop was for sure better apps on screen off actually worked properly -_-; which im noticing more and more it doesn't anymore. Its more like a Doze control which is annoying because Doze is not near as good as stock lollipop control. I cant seem to revert back to lollipop and keep the fingerprint sensor though, if anyone figures that out please let me know!
TL;DR
I cant seem to revert back to lollipop and keep the fingerprint sensor though, if anyone figures that out please let me know! Id much rather downgrade than continue to fix marshmallow.
Though for those of you wondering, Viper|Atmos//Sony Beats the audio mod works perfectly on this phone
Just finished Init.d for Mincpus to fix the whole Big Little problem Super good stuff. Phone now booting in the big little mode you were talking about. super easy stuff.
Anymore u tried? I posted that script but still EMUI is an heavy OS im waiting for CM to be abit more stable. U can revert back to LP using a local update though dload. I did it aswell when my phone was bricked. Fp is not working because u miss the firmware
I also lost fingerprint when going back to lollipop. I'll let you know if i come up with any fixes for it.

@Demian3112
So Dload for lollipop will revert back from Marshmallow and keep fingerprint reader? Interesting... Does the Dload relock the bootloader? Sorry for the somewhat noobish question, new.
Just looking through sys at the moment to understand the language used for big.little, seems to be a comma separation for them. Wondering if I can set min max this way and keep cores 4-7 at min freq 200000. Also looking for a way to get all big cores to disable when not in use, not just 3 of them which is the current.
Swap set to 0 in marshmellow, seems to speed the phone up a little.
testing Xposed here in a bit to get a few different features, debloated the phone, mostly normal stuff. Playing with other CPU files at the moment in root browser to see what I can do regarding the power draw from the CPU...
set SElinux to permissive to allow for proper audio playback through Viper//Atmos//Sony//Beats...Found Multiwindow, enabling that soon, don't know why it was ever disabled?
Otherwise mostly enjoying the phone at the moment, still above 80% battery with all this that im doing and im half way through my day. the CPU thing really helped with the battery draw.
You should try CyanogenMod 13: excellent battery life, USB OTG and gyro working, much better CPU & RAM management...
FP reader is working, but you must upgrade to MM first (to update trust zone and radio firmwares).

Oh of course, I loose data all the time anyway so im used to that flash far too often to be healthy.
I reverted via a twrp backup, used emergency data recovery to factory reset using stock recovery, then it let me boot into lollipop, just missing that all important fingerprint reader//navigation tool. Will most def do that soon, at 60% :/ not sure where the random drain came from. just an hour later and lost 20%? Has to have to do with Screen off app closing. Huawei probably did the lazy thing and just changed over from their own tools to doze I guess that helps while its on your bed at night? And then never again?
As for CM13, im fairly apathetic to the topic... Not to be annoying, or rude, but ive heard the excellent battery life claim a million times about stock android, and while ive noticed its improvements over something like...say, Sense, or Touchwiz... Ive never seen it beat the z3's battery saving tool (before marshmallow), or as of the day I got this phone, Huaweis non-debloated lollipop.
Ive never seen a phone still be at 30-40%, at the end of work, the day after the day I charged. Until this phone. The Z3 would make it a little past lunch if I barely used it on day 2, but this phone played pokemon go for 2 hours the day I charged it, I spent the day listening to streaming music, browsing for various small things, watching a few youtube videos, a little navigation... And it had 40% when I left work the next day lol at 100% auto brightness. Id love to see some screen on vs idle drain comparisons between this phones CM13 and Stock, at that point, ill believe a battery claim.
It played pokemon go at 60fps and the game is a known battery/gpu hog (s7 plays slower than this phone, likely due to lack of gyroscope?)
other than some various laggy UI glitches, the phone was pretty much what id been looking for (I Prefer Miui over stock android, this phone is similar)

What buildnumber and Custom version/Cust do you have? Might be able to link you the right firmware.. twrp backup doesnt backup firmware that explains that you dont have a finger print, is the H from Honor at boot logo Red also?

Your Reply has been added to the OP for those concerned with Downgrading. Figured it might be nice to stumble upon the directions that, after reading many posts throughout the various roms, many people might actually be looking for. Will likely try this tonight when I get home, battery is much better with the battery fix, but not as good as lolipop
Great.
Hope to help others that were stuck the same way
@igotlostintampa flashed CM13 today.. Im sold on this device i would suggest you to upgrade aswell.. Everything works no bugs so far and its smooth as hell. Battery is insane.. Every core has a task and with normal use it doesnt even scale above 800mhz and the other 4 are offline all the time only when needed they get activated.. Since 1PM i lost only 20% battery (Im on 23 now) while i was installing CM also.. Deffinitaly recommended

Alright so question for you, im interested in that CM13 seems to be using the big little concept we have been speaking about...
((Marshmellow Big.Little Fix does not function properly. It resets without reboot being required, just takes longer to apply than the core modifications under smart power saving, init.d through kernel auditor on smart battery saving mode does not run script on boot, must be manually executed))
Does the CM13 Fingerprint reader allow you to pull down notifications? Will likely check it out, interested... Also, how about a screen off task killer? Is that present... Looking through its forums.

No fingerprint pull down.. No gestures for it yet. No off screen taskkiler but thats fine its stock android you will have enough memory spare.. Got 10 apps open right now no issue and u can instant change to one. CPU is tweaked already with kernal adiutor u can turn off cores manually and tweak it to what ever you like.. Day 2 of using battery is better.. ALOT smoother u can switch from app in a instant no waiting time at all. If u have any questions just ask it. Rom is stable enough for daily use no bugs so far!

Ah see im not worried about memory usage, I never run low on a stock rom in the first place. Stock android has this problem where it allows some apps to sit open eating battery life when the screen is off. Instances of this include facebook, Google maps, general overall "Wakelocks" not present inside of the stock Huawei rom, that prevent the phone from going to sleep even though they aren't doing anything. The off screen task killer is there to close apps hogging battery life in the background that should have turned off when they weren't needed but didnt, after your screen turns off. For the most part this is the cause of the smoothness that you feel inside of a rom. Its going to be smooth because none of the apps are ever turning off, its a balance scale.
Not a big problem, I don't mind fixing that its really easy lol, just curious. As for the gestures that's a little disappointing.. It just seems like I may have to add a bit, but I can try it before I run over to lollistock, ill test it out today. You've convinced me with a claim of good battery though lol, and your previous comments about marshmallow, don't let me down!
