[Discussion][CallingDevs] Enabling ART on kitkat leaked firmware - Xperia Z General

Hi folks. Recently I flashed leaked kitkat firmware by @DooMLoRD and it works awesome.
I'm just curious after reading this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2550478, he managed to enable ART setting,
I did pretty much the same steps as he did (decompile settings.apk using apktool) and found the result on a ttachment.
Yes, pretty much the same but I found some formatting differences. I wonder if devs can help me to achieve this.
Thanks

I have added the option but switching to ART cause bootloop

Thanks for your effort anyway. I appreciate it!
Can we just swap the art library .so and edit build.prop to enable ART? i read it somewhere AFAIK.
btw, this build is blazing fast even without ART..especially the touch response.
Are you going to release something soon, @niaboc79?

It won't work, What I have added is the automatic selection, so when you are changing runtime in settings it reboot and create ART or Dalvik.
Of course something is coming, but no ETA

Sony fw's arent built to support ART.. Hence all ART libraries need to be added manually.. I guess niaboc will be bringing it in his eXistenZ v8.. :fingers-crossed:

So if its enabled, is it being implemented or not?

But what is the purpose of the attached screenshot?

Wait on the official 4.4.2 then we all can look into it ^^

I have added the option.
But even if all requested things used by ART are in the Sony firmware it doesn't work. There is an incompatibility with some Sony feature I guess.

I am not sure what region-specific changes could be in a kernel! Guess I will need to download and have a look. I wanted to add some governors to the kernel -- lulzactiveq mainly, from Gokhan's sources, because I was getting great performance with that on the S3.

Sorry to disappointing you, but codeworkx (Major CM developer) has publicly announced that he's not going to do anything with Exynos based devices because Samsung didn't release a proper documentation for it.

From an AOSP perspective : This means that if anyone is willing to take the effort it should be possible to have a CM10 build up. Unfortunately, the kernel is not the only thing needed and the CM devs are disillusioned with Samsung.
Don't hold your breath, but actually the learnings from S3 which has a decent working build should help if someone wants to do it.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
If anyone is trying to compile the Samsung source drop, a heads up: the Cypress touchkey drivers are missing from the source. Use the driver sources from the I9300 update 5 (/drivers/input/keyboard/cypress). Works fine with that.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
So I don't really understand anything about sources, I have to ask: Is this the Exynos source that devs have been upset about not being able to access?

was able to flash to my P3113 and it works like a charm. I used Mobile Odin's everoot feature and did not flash the recovery nor the kernel. After flashing with mobile odin the tablet did not pass beyond the Samsung logo, however, I went to recovery, flashed kk-boot kernel and the table booted fine.
Everything works except for the microphone. I even installed the smart remote app and the IR seems to be working also.

[ROM] ProjectAOSP N7105 Test Builds

Project AOSP
Most of you here know about my ProjectAOSP rom so there isn't any need for introduction. I had several requests for making a version compatible with the LTE variants of the phone. As such I have made a port following Madmacks steps, seeing that I can't rebuild the rom from the ground up without a device to test on. For this very same reason, I decided to post a test build I made here, hoping that someone would be brave enough to give it a try. This rom is ported to the N7105, however from what I understand (I might be wrong), N7105 build also work on the other variants of the phone such as the T-Mobile and AT&T one. These build haven not been tested at all as I do not own the device so I'm relying on the feedback I get before I post in the the development forum.
THIS IS STILL UNDER DEVELOPMENT AND CAN SERIOUSLY DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE. I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE
Status:
N7105: Not Tested
T-Mobile Variant: Not Tested
AT&T Variant: Not Tested

It's a bit more complicated than that. For each version that I have to do for the N7100 I end up testing several times and that already takes a long time. Having to upload each test would take forever. The rom has been ported to other variants of the Note 2 so it should be possible to just port it

Android runtime, it's an alternative to dalvik machine. Somebody can correct me if I am wrong.

I've added the 2 (as far as I can tell) ART libs (libart.so and libart-compiler.so) to /system/libs. The switcher shows up after a reboot, but I can't switch to ART because it ends up in a bootloop. I've tried both libs built for the n7 2012 (from an AOSP rom), and from the nexus 5 port for the nexus 4.
My guess is something is missing, but I can't tell what.
