Hello!
Yesterday I received the 4.4 OTA and I was impatient to try out the performance of the new runtime. Unfortunately, under the developer options, I found no menu mentioning the runtime change.
May it be it's *another* exclusive for Nexus 5?

Nop, nobody reportedly has art on their nexus 7 device

ART is not limited to Qualcom devices, there are AOSP ROMs for the Galaxy Nexus (OMAP4) that allow ART to be enabled.

Sorry about ignorance, but what us ART?

That is correct only ART will fc so much that it is not yet useable on the 2012 Nexus 7 but the option is available
A friend just updated his 10 and it's not included in there either.
Why is the right door always locked?

Android runtime, it's an alternative to dalvik machine. Somebody can correct me if I am wrong.

I've added the 2 (as far as I can tell) ART libs (libart.so and libart-compiler.so) to /system/libs. The switcher shows up after a reboot, but I can't switch to ART because it ends up in a bootloop. I've tried both libs built for the n7 2012 (from an AOSP rom), and from the nexus 5 port for the nexus 4.
My guess is something is missing, but I can't tell what.

That's about right. They're experimenting this on everyone for 4.4 and i've heard good things about speed results, but not all apps are compatible yet.

Same here.. I thought I was the only one. Lag in animation and opening app is horrible.even after oyodo kernel , fsync off and other ext 4 tweaks . the tweaks made it better but not was the device is suppose to do

it's a lot of people. i've been on CR4 w/ faux kernel, greenify, seeder for awhile and it's been the best for me.
updating multiple apps is excruciatingly slow sometimes.
4.4 stock is a little laggy for me too. But cm 11 is fast, lag free and it has ART(with PA odex gapps).

Rooted 4.4 and getting Google+ FC's when I try to access Play Store. Does this have something to do with ART?

I'm enjoying Ingress, but interested in trying out a new ROM. I'm currently eyeing Minco (http://minco.mobi/), but I wanted to know if anyone knows if they will work together, or how I can tell if they work together.
Thanks for your help.

Ingress is a game. What does that have to do with Roms?
Yes minooch and Franco are working together to develop the minco ROM.
Make sure you download the mako version.

To be honest, I'm new to android, and thought that for some reason, custom ROMs could cause problems due to bugs, or some sort of block since it isn't an "official" and "trusted" build. Thanks for the answers

Minco is the best rom for stability/battery
For customization go with ParanoidAndroid, AOKP or CyanogenMod
Is the new miui v5 gonna come to the nexus 7? Any developers willing to port it to the nexus 7?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Only if it had tablet ui.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Not like the Nexus 7 really has a tablet interface that's much different from the phones.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
It deserves to have a different ui than a phone.
Sent from my SGH-I927 using xda premium
It did not show up as an official port this time around, nor are there any unofficial ports shown on the MIUI forum. I loved using MIUI on my Nexus One and G2, but I think I'd have to pass on it for the N7; as said above, until tablet interface (whether phablet or full tablet, I don't care personally) is added to MIUI, I can't stand to use my N7 like a giant phone. Also, V5 is based on 4.1.2, and I'd really like to not downgrade when we've had 4.2 for months now.
Sorry if this is off topic, but you should check put Chameleon OS.

Are you sure this is the right updater-script? Its 1:1 like that one from zip.

Well I integrated that updater-script with the rom and flashed. Still the same error. But maybe its my TWRP... I dont know. Or something is messed with my internal memory. I can install rasbeanjelly but It doesnt have lockscreen and some minor issues.

I have a Mi-2 and running the latest dev build of MIUI V5 and loving it. Good to see people trying it out on the n7, so if you want the looks but not the hussle, here is an alternative: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.miui.mihome2 (does require some mods before using it)
or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fsproductions.theme.miui.v5 for your 3rd party launcher

I flashed the mplus kernel last night and so far it's looking good. I am using PSX ROM
Currently I am using Franco's kernel r181. I have gradually tried some other kernels but I always end up going back to franco's.
At the moment this build has given me 1 day and 6 hours (including 2 hours screen on time) and I still got 50 % battery left - in my opinion it's pretty awesome
I'm using Purified kernel with Carbon Rom and after trying every kernel I'm staying with Purified.
Wasn't impressed by Franco kernel or Matrix for that matter.
I would suggest either AK kernel or Purified if you want battery and performance
franco r181, seems to be the best one for what I need.

Flashed it and my whole phone had errors. System, NFC, phone all apparently stopped working ... So I flashed cm10.2 again and back to its stock kernel.
i like Purified.Kernel its the best for me fast and battery smooth
Just upgraded manually to 4.4. No "select runtime" option appears in Developer Options. Really think that the version of KitKat that is being pushed to other devices besides the Nexus 5 is "Kit Kat Lite".
No google experience, no ART, pretty lame update IMO.

Yes. Unnofficial CM11 build have it.
Is this possible?I tried it but it wont boot.
I haven't ran Franco yet on my 6P personally (although I was a big fan of it on my Shamu), but I do know Screw'd is an AOSP ROM. That said, it may have something to do with the ROM's new implementation of CM Theme Engine, and may require the use of the CM compatible modified Franco Kernel by apascual89.

Did you reflash su 2.66 after flashing franco? I believe if it will work, then that is how you fix it.

Flash this first, then Franco Kernel and then SuperSU 2.60 or newer
