I have Sprint Wi-Fi calling on my Galaxy S4 Spark. The voice quality is unuseable.
I was glad to get the OTA download because I have had no bars in my house for three weeks. I used to get 2-3 bars.
Wi-Fi calling would be a viable solution if it worked. But the voice is so broken all I can do is call back from a land line.
It's not my network. I have 30 MBs and Skype does video calls perfectly.
My service is in Cedar Park, TX (North of Austin).
Does anybody else have Wi-Fi calling? How is the voice quality? :crying: :crying:

I had similar issues with the WiFI Calling update. Check your router and turn off IPV6 worked for me.
I'm afraid that won't help. My router is pre IPV6.
It's updateable, but I never had a reason to.

I just rebooted my cable converter. It's much better.

So i had setup and tested both apps at home over WiFi and the talk quality seemed perfectly fine, but I was a bit disappointed when I went out on a work day and tried to make some calls over 3G, it did not work out so well. It also does not help that I live in such a rural area with lack of coverage in some areas, but I can say that voice calls on my phone come in crystal clear. I've had either static, echo or bad delay time in voice transition.
So I'm wondering what other people have experienced trying to make VOIP calls over 3 G instead of WiFi, and if anyone has any tips, other than just use my phone.
I think the apps need better compression for when they work on 3G.

It really just sounds like a carrier issue. I use groove IP with att grandfathered unlimited data and when I'm at work call quality is considerably lower because of spotty signal. When you say phone calls come in clear do you mean a regular cell? You can have a strong cell signal with bad data connectivity

i am considering project Fi.
But where i live there is not tmobile signal, my friends come here with tmobile homes and they dont get signal(they live half a mile away).
Sprint coverage map says that there is "fair" signal.
so i was wondering if with project FI i dont have signal at home, the nexus 6p will switch to my wifi network and i will be able to receive and make calls?

I activated my Project Fi sim earlier in the week. T-Mobile is not strong around my house (I had to switch to an AT&T sim when I was with StraightTalk) and I'm not sure about Sprint. So far, while I'm at home, the majority of my calls are using my home wifi. I haven't had the chance to test a continuous call as I'm driving home to see if it switches to wifi, as Google indicates it will.

Yes, Project Fi uses WiFi for calls and texts when you are on WiFi.
Honestly tmobile wifi calling isn't even that great also. I am only able to get edge in my house with them and wifi calling enabled. I tried calling my phone 15 times and 2-3 times it didn't go through (it actually RINGS but my phone doesn't ring or indicate someone called, and the phone I'm using it rings and goes to voicemail) Wifi calling is at it's infancy I feel like.
I had a tmobile lte booster installed in my room for a year and it BARELY made a difference, still got 0.3-0.5 mbps speeds on their "lte"
Fast forward to last month they finally came out with a lte booster that ACTUALLY works, the previous one came was trash.
If I were you, I'd get tmobile and get the NEW lte booster, because the old one gave me 0.5 to 1mbps at it's best and the new one gives me around 7-10mbps on speedtest. Sprint has horrible signal, I would think their "Fair" signal means horrible reception.
Or just go AT&T and verizon, you get what you pay for..... they are much MUCH reliable than tmobile and sprint.

Note that T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling has nothing in common with Project Fi Wi-Fi calling, which works perfectly.
I seem to only have had one wifi call at my house with Project Fi that I've actually noticed / remembered. I have no idea why all of them don't come in / go out that way. I have a good cell signal too. But, my wifi is strong on 5 Ghz and my bandwidth is about 88 mbps down / 12 up. I only noticed that one time I got an incoming call that said something to the effect of "using wifi network name." I've confirmed the settings in the phone app are set to use wifi calling too.
WiFi calling works perfect at the house. Have very limited cell signal with every provider, so I put on Airplane mode + WiFi and zero issues?

Yeah I was just mentioning how bad tmobile is in some areas. But if you have their new lte booster, it works great. The older version barely made a difference. Came from 0.5mbps to 7-10mbps consistently
I mentioned it also cause they told me to try their wifi calling last year and it was jist decent, I still missed calls without knowing people actually called
When I try to place a video call in the built in phone dialer, it says "Video calling is currently not available. Call connected as voice only." But when my brother tried calling me on his S7 edge, it works fine. I tried turning off the feature in call settings and turning it back on but still doesn't work.
Any one have this problem yet? My best buy order came thru today.
I think it only works between AT&T phones. I've only tried between my S7 edge and my girlfriends S7 edge...both on AT&T. There were a few times she missed the notification to do video and it ended up being audio. The other side definitely has to pick it up as a video call.
Yea, my bro has the S7 edge also and we are living in the same house. Some reason mine doesn't work. When you press the video call icon, the front camera suppose to kick on, but on mine it doesn't. My brother's does...
They had it (HD Voice feature) disabled due to me calling back in October complaining about bad reception around my house. They just reenabled and all is fine now!
I'm having the same issue and att Tech support couldn't figure it out
Call AT&T and have them enable HD Voice feature on your line. Should work then. Make sure you're on a 4G network possibly with LTE as well.
I've tried this a few times with me and my wife's phones. Every time I get the message that its unavailable and audio only. But when we call audio only its HD voice. So not sure what the issue is.

I wanted this on mine and my gf's phones, after multiple fails I started researching. We live in a country rual area, while we still show 4g LTE and great signal. The HD network isn't available everywhere. It shows both phones have to be on the HD network not WiFi and good signal. I recently traveled to new Orleans and we made multiple video calls to each other. After coming home it no longer works. We defaulted to using hangouts and with our unlimited data and good signal strength it works great. [emoji3]

I had that problem the first date I upgraded my S6's software to MM. I called AT&T and complained that I could not make video call between my S7 and S6. The next day both worked, both on WiFi and LTE...
1. From your home screen, press the Phone icon.
2. Tap More on the top right corner.
3. Scroll down and tap on Settings.
By default, VoLTE should be enabled if your Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge was first used with a carrier SIM that supports it. If your phone was unlocked and subsequently transferred to a carrier SIM that supports VoLTE, you may have to enable it manually.
4. Tap on VoLTE.
Make sure that Use VoLTE when available is checked.
Note: Some versions of the Galaxy S7 may show this setting in a different spot.
Worked for me!
Just a tip, I did some research on this. Att requires both phones to be on their 4g LTE enhanced network. So if one of the callers is in a rural area or low signal, it won't work. I have a s7 and my wife a s6, if one of us is around her parents house (very rural but still 4g coverage) it won't work. However if we both in town or at home, no issue. We started using Google duo when she would visit her family and att video any other time.
Since I got the S8 and enabled wifi calling I've noticed some issues...
Half the time I look at the wifi icon the WiFi calling circle isn't there. No matter if I'm on my 5ghz or 2.4ghz wifi. Same at work or any other wifi. It seems to come and go. Sometimes resulting in messages taking forever to send because it's trying to send over WiFi but it's randomly dropped wifi calling.
I had the same problem on my att S7, so it's not just this phone...
HOWEVER, my TMobile S7E will kick wifi calling on the second I connect to WiFi and will STAY on the entire time I'm on it. I could even turn on airplane mode, then Wi-Fi while I'm at work and not worry about missing anything at all. If I do the same with my att S8, I get flooded with texts I didn't get when I turn airplane mode off and reconnect to cellular.
Anyone else notice the wifi calling is flaky??
Wifi calling works well on my device may be its isp problem

Again, TMobile works on ANY wifi. Any att phone I use it comes and goes or doesn't work at all.

My s8+ and s7e and note 5 WiFi are working fine on any WiFi network. No problem at all. Maybe you got problem with hardware.
On Edge of Galaxy
It only works when the signal reception is poor and turns off automatically when the signal is good.

This is indeed how it works on AT&T and it works a treat. Hand over even works very well when going from inside a building to outside with cell signal.
Except when you don't realize a message didn't send because it doesn't know how to send it or when you turn WiFi off and get a bunch of texts you should've received hours before.

I have not experienced this, sorry.
I am having the problem too.
Maybe enable aggressive handoff in Dev options?
So I know Wi-Fi Calling helps if you have little to no reception on a place, so you can use the Wi-Fi to receive and make calls...
But I live in a city where there's good 4G signal all around (even in the metro); so my question is: Is there any point on turning it on?
I'm just curious because it feels like it drains the battery of my Pixel 4 when I'm at home with Wi-Fi calling turned on (could be a placebo effect)
Anyone who uses Wi-Fi calling who can give an input on this will be greatly appreciated!

I too live in the city where my T-Mobile signal is pretty good in most places. I set WiFi calling option to "cellular as a priority" and if there is no cell service and there is WiFi connection, then phone would use WiFi calling ability.

You have that?? My provider doesn't even give me that option; it will always use Wi-Fi calling whenever I'm connected to any Wi-Fi and then Cellular when I'm not.
(EE, please provide your customer more options lol)
Thanks anyway!

Yes, T-Mobile in the US has few features that work on many popular brands of unlocked models. For example each mobile operator sells their own versions of their branded phones but not many of these operators would allow unlocked phones to take advantage of the features(wifi calling, VoLTE, video calling...)
