Hi All.
I've been trying several solutions, in order to see and connect to ad hoc networks on my phone, however none of them has worked so far.
The phone is a Samsung Galaxy I9305, using Jelly Bean 4.3
The problem is, that the solutions giving on different sites, somehow disable my WIFI rather than making it Ad-hoc compatible. Replacing the current wpa_supplicant file, with the provided file on the sites, no longer allows me to enable the WIFI.
So I was wondering, if anyone had succeded in finding a solution for this particular phone, or just for Jelly Bean in general?

As we know, sgs2 by default doesn't show ad-hoc networks. I have rooted my sgs2 with simple root and original firmware. Is there anyway we can modify the wifi driver so that it shows ad-hoc networks? My other phones running cyanogen mod connects to ad-hoc networks without any issues.
Hello everyone,
I am running CyanogenMod 10 (Android 4.1.2) from Tezet. The exact version number is 10-20121228-NIGHTLY-milestone2.
I just switched to the French operator Free Mobile. They offer access to their "FreeWifi_secure" wifi network in the plan. The authentication method is known as EAP-SIM ; it connects using information in the SIM card. However, this option is not given when you try to connect using the "Settings" app in Android.
So I tried to connect to the FreeWifi_secure wifi by modifying the following file :
Code:
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
This method is explained on another thread of XDA : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660397. I managed to follow the instructions but still cannot connect to the wifi network. FreeWifi_secure is correctly displayed as a favorite network, however, when trying to connect, it never goes past the "Connecting…" step.
Do you know whether the Milestone 2 is hardwarewise compatible with EAP-SIM ? Or is the incompatibility due to a limitation in CyanogenMod ? Have you personally managed to use the Free Mobile wifi network ?
Thanks a lot !
I contacted Motorola's customer support and they told me that none of their phones were compatible with EAP-SIM, unfortunately.
Hi to all
I have a N7 32G 3G 4.2.1 rooted , unlocked bootloader, rom, kernel and launcher STOCK
i wanted the option to create hotspot wifi
As you know this opttion is not naptive
And so i installaed this [MOD][4.2.1/4.2][JOP40D/JOP40C] Tethering/Wifi Hotspot for the Nexus 7 3G that can be downloaded here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995737
After the installation i am able to create hotspot wifi, set its password, connect to N7's hotspot wifi several other devices (phone, smartphone, PC, etcetera) but ... i cannot surf internet with they :crying:
It is not a matter of kind of profile of my SIM provider (Telecom Italia Mobile = TIM) because i tried to perform the same thing using as hotspot producer an Ipad and ... NO PROBLEM : the same devices connected to IPAD's hotspost wifi can surf internet !!
Have you any idea in order to fix my issue ??
Many thanks
Paolo

SPECIAL NOTE for all my Italian fellows!
After you unlock/root/custom recovery your nexus 7 and then flash the tethering .zip as suggested by other users in this thread, you would recover your tethering functionality. IF it happens to you to subscribe a Internet 3G carrier like "TIM" (Telecon Italia Mobile), it would also happens that all the devices that you try to connect via wifi tethering to your nexus 7 would do that BUT you without the possibility to navigate properly.
Apparently the problem is specific to the nexus 7 (no problem with apple devices for example) and consist in the "blocked" APN provided by TIM. This app seems to resolve the problem (surely worked for me and other users around italy).

Hello.
Since Android 4.3, Bluetooth 4 is supported if the device supports it as well. The i9500 has this ability.
As I am a running addict, I bought a compatible heart rate monitor belt with dedicated ability to be connected to the s4. Link:http://global.mobileaction.com/product/product_i-gotU_HRM-10.jsp
Unfortunately, I can not pair it with my s4. The device is simply not recognised. I followed the connection instructions but failed repeatedly. I don't have problems with other Bluetooth devices (most likely Bluetooth 3).
I debloated the stock rom mj8 and am not sure if there are particular files ONLY for Bluetooth 4, which I might accidently deleted. I can not imagine that, but maybe somebody can enlighten me.
I9500, stock 4.3 mj8, rooted
Thanks for your help in advance.
Edit: Due to the fact that 100 viewers but no reply to this post: Did anybody EVER successfully pair a BT4.0-device with the S4?
hi guys
I have an s4 i9500 and would like to know (sorry the ignorance) if on this set i can have hotspot for regular wifi connection and not only with network connection.
When i try to create a tether setting the phone automatically shuts the existing wifi connection.
Is there a driver that will allow to create an option for hotspot on wifi. I saw a video that creates something similar on a 9505 odexed. my issue is is there such a file for the 9500, also i believe i saw a file but for a very old rom version. Currently i am running i9500xxufna6 on android 4.4.2
the file i saw was for an older android version and i am not sure it would work on 4.4.2
Can anyone point me in the right direction, i need to tether my tablet to the phone but i want to use my home router rather than my phone company.
Any help will be greatly apprecited
thanks
