try "button savior". can be used by non-root units but has limits. root gives you more. has soft keys for power, phone, etc. can have up to 10 buttons i think. you can play around with the settings to suit your screen use.

There are several xposed mods that will enable navigation bar and soft keys. Gravity box and modaco toolkit amongst others. But you must be rooted

thank you .yes ,i have root .

You can enable the navbar adding this line to build.prop
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
And edit the buttons to look like Xperia with Softkeyz app (only aosp roms)
Ps. for a weird reason the navbar doesnt work in dn3 v4, just in case

Don't tweak build prop for soft keys in dn3 v4RC2. . It causes boot loop.
Best app is to use lmt pie launcher from xda... ..or use side control app or use all in one gestures app from play store. ..:thumbup::thumbup:
The bottom navigation bar is a waste of space

It's true... in 4.4 you cannot add soft key bar on the bottom screen. I tried many ways, but the end was bootloop.

Is there a way to activate onscreen buttons?

Like instead of the capacitive and home hardware buttom. A line at the lower part of the screen is used to show on screen buttons

I've always used the line that you add to your build.prop file and it adds it by itself but it doesn't work in the note 3, I tried it and it went into an infinite systemui force close, so I guess it's a no go.
I'm also interested in them as I use the s pen too much and I hate pressing the home button with it.

I'm using Swipe Home Button. It uses gestures for various actions. It's not perfect, but it keeps my pen off the home button. No root required. I have it paired with a "screen off" app, so I can avoid using the power button, too.

There's also Virtual Button Bar, which is more of a pop-up menu of icons (can be set to always be visible). It's not being developed anymore, but it still works, and served its purpose while I was using it.

[Q] possible to change the back button?

Hello,
I have a Z1,but what annoys me is the back button order.
It is on the left, and if i want to go back it is almost impossible to do with my right thumb and mostly i have to use my left hand to pres it.
My previous phone was a X10 and the buttons on that were just ideal.
Is there any way to change the order of those buttons?
Also its a huge mis that Sony didn't place those button on the black area on the bottom of the phone! if they did this right, this phone would be perfect!

Does any mod allow the "pocket mode"?
That is turning on the screen when the phone is taken out from the pocket and there are new notifications.

Change soft buttons position

Hello,
I'm looking for suggestions about tweaking the soft buttons, more specifically I want to assign the buttons on the right to avoid the little stretching I have to do and also to not compromise my stable hold of the phone.
Thanks.

I would love this too!
For now though I've been using LMT Launcher and that's been working just great!

I haven't specifically used it but I think that the Xposed module called "Gravity Box" might have that trick up it's sleeve. It comes in both Lollipop & Marshmallow flavors, there should be a dedicated thread under the Xposed modules here on XDA that you could browse through and ask questions about that possibility.

You are absolutely correct! I should've suggested that too as I'm using GravityBox myself (I'm not hiding the nav bar though).
In fact, since I wrote my original reply above I've had to remove LMT due to some incompatibility and am using GravityBox's similar PIE controls instead.

Good Lock 2019 (One Handed Operation) / System - Display - Navigation bar

Good Lock 2019 is superb from Samsung no doubt about it but in case of System - Display - Navigation bar - Navigation buttons or Full screen gestures AND One Handed Operation which is available in Good Lock...what's the use of having both why cant we disable system navigation buttons or gestures if we ONLY have to use One Handed Operation which in my opinion is super awesome!!
some game options are only on the navbar
