OKay..
Check which radio mode your phone is in. If it's not in CDMA mode, then the MMI code you are entering will not work.

Ha ha ha .. LOL...:fingers-crossed:
The same problem here. I can't access my voice mail service. Anybody found a way to unlock these codes on verizon?
Already tried unlocking hidden menu...
Tks!
I found a way to run some codes, at least now I can access my voice mail.
The way that worked for me is to use the + symbol after *, like *+2211
I cannot post links because don't have enough posts, so I copied the webpage below:

5 Ways How To Fix Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code
Posted on July 2, 2014 by Chevy Powell in Gadget with 0 Comments
While here at Technobezz, we had covered a lot of Solutions for problems on almost all Mobile Phones. The Samsung galaxy variants being the very popular device, we have wrote some of the simplest and helpful solutions for issues facing on them. While there are a plenty common errors on the Samsung galaxy. The Invalid MMI Code error is seen to be a prominent problem, most people cannot make calls or send text messages . One of the problem that really caught our attention and which was found to be the most difficult of the many was Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code .
A user complaint :
Hello i am having Connection problem or invalid MMI Code.”. I am unable to send or receive calls and text messages, and i cannot recharge airtime
You normally see this error when you are about to check your account balance , Topping up, Recharging or performing any function designed by your sim service provider, like adding voucher to run a ussd code.
WHAT CAUSED CONNECTION PROBLEM OR INVALID MMI CODE
While different country cell phone provider varies, it still defined to be the same operation like 124# , *1359# are operation functions use to execute a task. But if you are getting “Connection problem or invalid MMI code” This error normally occurs because of issues with service provider and sim card authentication. The Invalid MMI Code error is found on mostly dual sim smartphones, such as the Samsung galaxy S Duos.
HOW TO FIX CONNECTION PROBLEM OR INVALID MMI CODE
How To Fix Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code
How To Fix Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code
Method 1
I am listing this solution first because users has less attention to this, yet it is the simplest and most effective one. App Disabling - there are a lot of user who have found deleting an app which may have being causing the MMI code error. However, this may not be the case for most people. To find out if there is any app that may have be causing you to get this error, you simple need to go into safe mode on your phone. In this guide we will be using Samsung Galaxy.
What is Safe Mode?
Safe mode is very similar to a computer’s safe mode. It do not load any Apps. Basically it temporarily disabled all pre -installed applications and services that came with the phone and the one’s you have downloaded
How to Enter Safe Mode On Samsung Galaxy
To enter safe mode and to find out if there’s a culprit app that may be interfering with network operation of your phone, kindly follow the instruction below . Apps Like FX Camera is seen to be a treat in most cases. However, to enter safe mode:
>Turn OF your phone
>Hold the Power button
>While holding the power button keep tapping on the menu button, this is the button left of the home key
You will be greeted with a safe mode logo at the bottom left of the screen.
Now it’s time to test .
>Enter the same Prefix code you were trying before within the dialer and see if it works eg “*135#
>If it works then there is an app is causing the Invalid MMI Code error on the android phone .
>Reboot your phone and remove any recently installed apps
Method 2
Another simple and effective way to fix Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code on android phone is to add a comma at the end of the Prefix code.
For example
>If your Prefix code is *2904*7#
>Then adding the comma at the end would do just the trick
> *2904*7#,
OR
You can use the + symbol after *
Like *+2904*7#
By adding the comma it forces the operation to execute and overlook any error that’s in the way
Method 3
Please also read :Secret Codes For All Samsung Galaxy Variants (S2/S3/S4/S5)
To Fix Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code on samsung galaxy , this method is simply entering into device information mode and activating Radio and Turn on IMS over SMS
To Enter information mode :
>Dial *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer
>Navigate to Device/Phone Information
>Click on “Run Ping Test ”
After the Ping test is performed
>Click on “Turn Off Radio”
then
“Click on “Turn on SMS over IMS”
IMS :IP Multimedia Subsystem
IP :Internet Protocol
SIP:Session Initiation Protocol
While this setting is off SMS is sent or received over a period of 1x(times) the circuit switched connection
Finally reboot .
Method 4
Restarting your phone several times can do the trick. Basically, turn your phone on , navigate to network settings. Then hold the power and the home button together until your phone turns off. then Turn it back on.
Method 5
On Technobezz there are always more than one ways to solve a problem and here we have a collection of solutions, These links below are articles for different problems. But, most of my users has found a solution by applying the same principle.

Cannot run 4636 code
Thx for sharing. Tried it, but I cannot run the *#*#4636#*#* on my SM-G900V (Samsung S5 from Verizon) Already unlocked the hidden menu and can run some codes, but the 4636 won't work. Wanted to access because I need to change my SMSC number. You got any ideas?
Tx.
How were you able to get it unlocked ? I also have a SM-G900V Verizon and I'm frustrated with this damn thing.

I've just bought a second hand omnia 7, i put my sim card in and went straight on facebook so i assumed it was fine.. i then realised i couldnt make calls or send texts, and none of my calls went through. i tried it on a different sim and had the same problem.. HELP
I also have this problem any help? I cant make/send calls or texts but can get on G and browse the internet, could this be a problem with the setting on the phone? APN's maby? done 2 factory resets and recieved a text from windows phone saying welcome but thats all it will do....
I have the same problem, after some time. Messaging and calls stop working...
Has anyone come up with a fix for this?
I have full signal on an unlocked Omnia 7 but it is a simple case of not being able to make any calls or texts (or receive them for that matter).
Maybe they tamperd in Diagnostic Tools. I messed aroun and had a hard time restoring the radio settings. Look for diagnostic codes here you find a toon if codes to use. Hit this in your dial pad and you install and start the diagnostic tools.
##634#
You need to find the codes (cant remember em im afraid) that gives access to gsm/3G section.
Just had to look =P
- Hit *#32489# and you get to Cyphering. Mine is on
- Hit back once and you can press [5] RRC (HSPA). Mine is set to REL6
- If you back to the side where we could find the above [5]RRC option, you have below a Dual Mode setting. Mine says "Not ACT"
- When you type in *#32489# you can press back 2 times. There you can select option [7] Network settings. In there you can look if stuff is in automatic modes. Like...
[2] Band selection, mine is in automatic.
Well, there you have it. Something to compare to a working device. A hard reset won't put these values to default so you will have to look for your self. Now be carfull in there, you can do more damage if you dont acctully read what the pages says. If you understand what im saying, there should be no problems. Check out your settings and compare to mine. Se any diff just set it like i given advice on. Hope this helps..
Cheers for the advice but it hasn't helped as I have the same settings as you, another thing to add whenever I do try to make a call it comes up "00:00 Call Ended". I hope that may help someone in diagnosing the problem.
Have you tried downloading the Samsung Network Profile tool from Marketplace and then changing the Active profile to your SIM card?
Hvae you tried putting an unbranded ROM on? (even an old one as Zune will update with the unbranded ROM!!)
Same problem tried different ROMS but still have "Emergency Only".
The SIM is OK.
anybody found a fix for this problem ? im also suffering but the phone will receive texts and voice-mail on the orange network, it was on orange before i got it unlocked.
thanks hope there is help out there
update : This procedure is no longer required, you may now go through Ting's official activation procedure and have a fully working device.Got the S4 working on Ting!1 - get the phone out of the box, run through setup but don't customize anything yet because the phone will factory reset once or more than once during the process. Also, Ting recommends that you don't root or reflash the ROM until your activation is complete.2 - hands free activation will appear. When asked if you are swapping this device for another on your Sprint account, tap "no".3 - go tothis pagesign into your Ting account and select the "bring your own device" option. From the BYOD page, select "samsung" > "my phone is not listed" since at time of this post the S4 is not officially supported by Ting. If it is listed, then do select it from the devices list. Then, enter your ESN under the battery(18 digit number) and basically just follow the prompts, but do not port a number from another carrier this causes all types of unnecessary delays, just get a new number4 - go into the dialer on the phone, and dial ##scrtn#5 - hands free activation will appear again. This time, you shouldn't be prompted about Sprint, and see the message "activation is complete" followed by a factory reset. Go through setup and continue. If you are prompted about Sprint again, are prompted for an MSL after dialing ##scrtn# or activation fails, skip to post 2, fix your problem, then continue on with these steps.6 - go into settings > system update7 - click "update profile" and wait for it to complete.8 - click "update PRL" and wait for it to complete.
troubleshooting and known issues
I ran into various problems during activation.
prompted for MSL :
method 1 : call Ting. They can provide you with your MSL.
method 2 :
for when Ting's phone lines are closed
1 - type ##rtn#
2 - at the prompt, type in any random six digit number.
3 - put phone into USB debug mode
4 - connect phone to computer
5 - at the adb shell, type :
getprop ril.MSL
the displayed number is your MSL
6 - now type exit to get out of ADB shell
hands free activation appears over and over again, and asks if I'm swapping this device for one on my Sprint account :
Did you try to port a number over from another carrier? If so, your activation request is stuck so skip down to the "if all else fails" section below.
If not, try some of the following codes :
first, dial ##scrtn# a second time and see if it works.
If not, dial ##rtn# and enter your MSL, phone will reboot, clear network programming, and reset user data.
if all else fails :
Simply open a help ticket with Ting. To do this, send an e-mail to [email protected]
in the e-mail, be sure to tell ting what the problem is, what you've tried so far to fix it, and give them both your ESN and ICCID. You can find your ICCID in settings > more > about device. You will receive periodic e-mail updates from their support team.
confirmed working by me :

Hello. I will be receiving my Sprint GS4 in the mail in a couple of days, and I was hoping to be able to activate it on Ting when it arrives. I currently have a S3 activated on my Ting account. Are you saying that I won't be able to keep the same number when I activate my S4? That wouldn't be a huge problem since I make all of my calls through Google Voice anyway, but it would be a pain to have to get a new number every time I get a new phone. Also, why do you say that LTE may not work? Are you not in an LTE area and cannot test it? I live in an LTE area, so I will let you know if it works for me.
You're already a Ting customer, so avoid the entire number porting nonsense. Get your eighteen digit ESN, MSL, and ICCID ready and call Ting at 855-846-4389
If it's a weekend and you need to have your phone working as soon as possible, delete your old device and follow these steps, getting a new number of course. The LTE thing was from Rob Lake at Ting customer service, and the data roaming thing was from my own testing.

I don't use MMS that much, so wouldn't be able to tell you if it works.
I'm running CM10.1 right now on my S4. Again, not totally tested yet. Voice works in both directions, data seems to work, not sure about SMS or MMS. however, and this is important, you must be on stock for an activation to work properly else you will run into all types of problems.

I saw your post about porting your Sprint Galaxy S4 to Ting.
I'm about to get a Ting Galaxy S4, and had a couple questions.
They're no longer allowing Sprint's S4s to be activated on Ting due to some MMS problems. Have you noticed any problems with texts/MMS on your S4?
If I get Ting's S4, I'll want to flash a custom ROM, but I'm wondering if this will cause any text/MMS/other problems. Have you tried a custom ROM on Ting?

I got everything working using EL29 temp boot, but when go back into CM/AOKP based Vanilla Rootbox, I can't dial out anymore. I can receive calls on the Ting line, but the dialer just gives me a robotic female voice saying the call could not be completed.
Any ideas on what could be causing this? I really don't want to have to use TW, and on the other Sprint mnvo i was on (credomobile) this was not an issue..... there must be a way....

Samsung Galaxy S4 (Sprint) & Ting Service
I have a new galaxy s4 from Sprint but I can no longer add this phone with Ting Service since they stopped the BYOD for this S4, I tried in the Ting page but the ESN is not accepted, called Sprint several times and its a clean ESN, also had the phone unlocked but that still doesn't work. Called Ting and apparently they have problems accepting S4's not bought through them.
Is there anything I can do to my S4 to be able to add it to Ting Service?
Thanks
Anyone confirm this still working? Im about to trade my galaxy note for a gs4. but the last post was kinda concerning!
no you can't use S4 or HTC One with Ting. They won't activate. The only Sprint MVNO that will activate S4 or HTC one is Ringplus.net
You can use the One on Ting...

- My IMEI is not blacklisted! It comes up on screen when typing *#06#.
- MY PHONE connects to the 4G perfectly! I get internet to surf from my SIM CARD! It means the phone is actually connected to the phone. BUT why dont it connect to the operator so I can call?

I think you will have to change the SIMCARD.
*COUNCIL: Try your current SIMCARD in other device for know if works ok or not.
My friend, its not SIM CARDS fault. I have two Galaxy Note 3`s and my SIM CARD works fine on all mobiles. The simcard has no damages or anything. It is a system failure I think. My phone connects to my network operator in like 5 seconds and go off when I change between Network Modes.

1. Root your device and flash Custom Recovery (like TWRP).
2. Make a nandroid backup to your SDCARD (data, system, EFS, boot, cache... ALL).
3. Wipe all (wipe system the last).
4. Reboot in download mode and reflash the stock ROM via ODIN: HERE.
5. Root your device again, flash TWRP and restore the backup (selecting ADVANCED BACKUP in TWRP) and select what you wanna restore.
6. Done.
I did that, still not working.

I don't know where you got that idea, but it's absolutely not true. Just look around: There are countless threads about solving this or that problem. Going through the manufacturer for repair is usually a last resort option.
As morningstar said. Going to Samsung to repair your phone is the last option. I am searching for help to solve this problem and you are coming here with your "lol" trying to help with some useless and not true information.
"try and try one day you can fry" never heard off that.
Just to check, the IMEI doesn't happen to start with 0049, does it?

No, my IMEI is correct and matches with my phone. Its the same as back off my phone when I pull out my battery. This is really strange, because I can see that people who are facing this problem have a blacklisted/corrupt IMEI, but mine is correct.
*Four years later...*
Got a fix? I have this problem now.
I've seen a few threads about this in the past for AT&T and call forwarding/google voice. I guess they never fixed it.
I tried setting it up via the google voice app, but it failed. I then tried to change it in call settings, but it fails, "Failed to read data", "Forwarding number change failed". I try going into More settings, "Failed to read data", "Network or SIM card error", and finally I tried to enter the MMI code, and all it does is say "MMI Code Started" and nothing happens.
I've rebooted, I've tried it with wifi off, all sorts of stuff. I guess I don't understand *why* I've seen threads back to the S2/3 with the same problem and why it isn't fixed.
I have been told by AT&T conditional call forwarding is enabled on the line.
Has anyone else gotten this to work on their S7? Is it just me?
Google voice works for me. I installed google voice app and use Hangouts as primary method of listing to my VM.

When you installed Google Voice, I'm guessing it configured your voice mail for you? Did you have to use the MMI code, or did GV handle it all?
I'm thinking there is something messed up on my line. About a month ago, my line was transferred to my work account. I didn't verify if GV was still working after the transfer. And then I got the new phone, which required a new SIM. I don't know if it is the new phone, sim, or the line transfer that is the problem.
Do you get any errors when you go into the phone settings, and do more settings so you can see the forwarding details?

I recently switch to Cricket, 5gb for 45$ a month with autopay. I getting the same errors. Good thing I also have a att prepaid Nokia lumia 635, I inserted sim on this phone and able to setup call forwarding, after you done, move sim back to s7 edge.
maybe get a used Nokia lumia 635 and give it a try? the phone is really cheap so give it a try. no guarette it works for you but it works for me.
So, I tried the SIM from another S7 (not edge), mine is edge, and it was able to go into the call forwarding settings on my phone. Previously I would get a Network or SIM error, and call waiting would be disabled. With the other SIM, these settings worked. So we know it isn't GV or the phone.
After an extensive conversation with their level 2 support, we found the 2 lines are provisioned with the same features. But, we found that the IMEI that was associated with my line was my old phones IMEI and not my new one. I was skeptical that this would solve the problem because we put a different SIM (from a different phone with a different IMEI) and it worked, however, I was assured that it is more of a 2 systems on the back end not validating things correctly due to the old IMEI.
They had to escalate the IMEI change and I was told it should be changed on the line within 24 hours. So now I wait.
Background: My coworker and I got our phones on Monday, 3/7. When we attempted to have them activated, the AT&T rep said she couldn't do it, that it was too early and was having problems. She created a ticket and put the one line on the ticket, and my line as a note on the ticket. My line started "working" that day, but the other line took 3 days to activate. I guess it took 3 days for them to properly activate because that is the one with the SIM that worked. Mine, that started working on 3/7 has all the problems with call forwarding and waiting.
Hopefully the IMEI thing on the back end will solve the issue.
qw
It is now working. For whatever reason, getting the correct IMEI in the system for me fixed the problem.

resetting APN under mobile networks fixed it for me
I have a G930U on AT&T and it took me about a week to realize missed calls weren't going to voicemail (had an AT&T S5 previously) I kept getting MMI code errors when using the **004* code provided by GV, and the GV app was unable to update as well. I was able to fix the issue via an AT&T support chat.
Per the Google Voice support page (click the "Additional help for AT&T customers" dropdown): https://support.google.com/voice/answer/165656?hl=en
If you are having trouble configuring Google voicemail on AT&T, you can make the switch by contacting AT&T Support live chat:
Ask your support representative to set up call forwarding for the following HD Voice settings: Busy, Unanswered, Unreachable. Confirm that they don't set up call forwarding for Always Forward.
The representative should set the forwarding number as your Google Voice number.
Before disconnecting with your representative, check that your voicemails are arriving in your Google Voice inbox:
Call your phone and let it ring until it goes to voicemail.
Call your phone and reject the call.
Turn off your phone and then call it.

Works like a charm now.
I bought VS995 phone slightly used. Upon getting the phone I used the Dirty Santa Root and Bootloader unlock method. I finally got around today to going to VZW and getting a new SIM and activating it on my current line. Activation kept failing. It was at the point where everything entered fine on their end , but on the phone it took about 5 minutes before giving the activation unsuccessful message. Has anyone encountered this issue? Rooting and unlocking the bootloader before activating it with a new SIM card? They were having problems with their activation servers this morning and said that since it's a new SIM it could be getting hung up with their server issue. I'm going to try tonight from my house. But was curious if I need to take any extra steps to get it activated. If my note 3 had a nano SIM card in it, I would have just been able to swap without an issue.
this should work, talk and text will instantly activate once you manually program, then its just getting it to update for lte / data
reference to documentation via Google

Reference for my post to manual activate the V20 ( sprint and vzw )

youll be searching for .iot.vzw_only or just iot.vzw
this should allow you to manually put in your ptn and msid, thus getting talk and text wokring, data should be off the lte sim.

When I go to the search function in the shortcut app, it yields no results for iot.cdmasettings.

Nothing maybe. Try a diff one. You would need root for this app also if you didnt know that. But click on each one that's likr the iot.cdm one or look for the NAM programing one directly. What your trying to do is launch the hidden menue app and get into manual programing. Do you have the sprint one's on your phone? Type SPRO .. Anything show up?

I do have an option that is checked under my apns in the networks menu for VZW internet. But obviously can't edit it. I assume that is ultimately where I need to end up.

Ultimately your trying to remove the programing from phone.. And or re program it on vzw. Did you try calling *228?
I was finally able to restore my phone to stock via uppercut and LG up. Got it activated on VZW today as well. Tomorrow I will set out to root again amd unlock the bootloader again. Thanks for your help. Have you encountered any Bluetooth issues with the phone? For some reason the phone won't recognize my car. Its a 2016 Honda. The phone will recognize other Bluetooth devices though. Just curious.
