[Q] Moving content to SD - Galaxy Note II General

How do I go about Moving content to SD?

I general you'll need some kind of file manager. The stock samsung one (My Files) works ok for most things.
If you go into All files you'll see SD memory card and Device storage.
Choose device storage, find the content you want to move and check the box to it's left. You should then see a menu option in the top right of the screen. From this menu select move.
This should pop you back to the screen that gives you the choice of SD memory card or Device memory. Choose SD memory card.
You'll then see a list of all the folders on your memory card. open the folder you want it to go in and hit "move here" in the top right of the screen.
This should work fine for APK files, music, films, music...most things realy,
The only other thing you might have to do is create a folder for your content to go in if you've not got an existing folder you want it to go in.
To create a folder got to...
My files, SD memory card then hit the menu button (the actual off screen button) and select "Create Folder", Name it whatever you want and your good to go.

Storage Card2....Why?

Is it me, or can this forum be a bit hard to search? (using "" or AND doesn't work??) I KNOW I've seen more than one topic on this but I cant find it for the life of me and I'm not getting refined results.
Just encountered that problem where the Wizard suddenly makes a new Storage Card folder and renames the original one "Storage Card2". The new folder has 2 folders to hold mail attachments and a folder for PIE History.
I can see and use all for the files on the Storage Card2 (all of my movies and music and what not) but the associated programs are now looking for them in the new Storage Card folder.
How can I revert this? I can't delete the new and rename the original with the device docked. Getting sharing violation errors..
Anyone have this problem?
Thanks in advance!
Ok so I fixed it....
I took out my SD card.
From File Explorer on the device, I was able to rename the "Storage Card" that was on the Device to "Old". If you now try to delete it, you'll still get a cannot delete Index error.
I did a soft reset and was then able to delete the "Old" folder. I got "system fil" warnings, but it allowed me to delete the whole folder.
I then inserted my SD card, which immediately showed up as "Storage Card", the way it's supposed to.
My programs are now looking for their files on "Storage Card" and finding them there.
If anyone knows why this happens, feel free to pitch in....
I found that this occurred with me if I did any hacks to put internet explorer temp files, Omega One's Journal Bar files or email attachments to the storage card. I expect is was one of the first two that does it on start up and it was rather upsetting at first until you firgure out what to do about it. I've since unapplied those hacks and it hasn't happened again.

Can I put my files on the home screen, preferably in a folder? [fixed]

I want to access my files (photos, docs etc) directly from the home screen instead of browsing the SD card and opening it from there.
Anyone know if this is possible?
Maybe a link to a folder on the SD card? is there a widget that already does this?
edit:
Found out how. Astro can create folder links to folders on your sd card.
long press on home screen->create shortcut->astro->long press on target folder-> enter shortcut name->ok
You can make a shortcut to a folder on your sdcard using Astro and Better Cut. From Better Cut choose Other Available Shortcut and then Astro when creating a new shortcut.

Couldn't you repartition with CWM and make the partition 4GB instead of 2? Not sure on this particular tablet though.
I have a 32gb micro sd installed i want to move all the installed apps to it
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
You could try manually moving them over and making a symbolic link where they were originally. A pain but if its a proof of concept then an app can be made to do it.
From what I've surmized Acer (and perhaps all tablet makers) changed the name and/or file structure from that of normal android phones. App2sd expects to have the old file system. I'm not sure how app2sd works internally but the sym link thing would be a guess of top of my head.

yes your right but i dont have the skills to do it ill have to wait for the app if one ever is developed

for different reasons, I'd like to learn how to create symbolic links to folders. I'd like to place one in my /sdcard folder in order to point to /external_sd, this way I'll see the external sd directly when I browse the tablet with my PC, like it's possible with the virtuous_galaxy rom..
can U help?
TIA
You might try using this simple method which I first posted in another thread and regarding a different subject. It might do what you want.
For anyone who wants to see the contents of their sd card on their PC and be able to copy/transfer files from one to the other, why not give this a try, it is very simple and works for my A500.
Before you start you need your A500 to be rooted and you need "USB Mount All version 1.3" from the Market cost $1.99
(1) Have your PC switched on, don't connect your A500 yet but switch the A500 on.
(2) Run USB Mount All and you will see your sd card as a "Device" named "ext_sdcard".
(3) Press the tab "Mount" next to your ext_sdcard. You will see two messages "Mount has been granted Superuser permission" and "Device successfully mounted".
(4) Press the "Menu" tab in the top Right hand corner of the screen, this opens a small box entitled "Settings". Press on "Settings" and you get 3 options, make certain all 3 options are ticked, ticking them if they are not. (The important thing is to have "Mount on Bootup" ticked"). Press the Back Arrow twice to get back to Home Page or where ever you started from.
(5) Re-boot the A500 and after it is back running connect it to your PC using mini usb connector.
(6) Now check your PC and open Windows Explorer, you will find under your A500 Device most of the folder/directories that are in /mnt/sdcard (which isn't all that relevent to this) BUT importantly you will find a folder/directory entitled "ext_sdcard" which for those of you who noticed is the exact name that "USB Mount All" called your sd card.
(7) Now use Windows Explorer to copy and paste whatever you want into the "ext_sdcard" folder.
(8) Please note that when you start to copy files you will get up a warning box stating "Do you want to copy XXXXX to your device?". You are given 2 choices (1) No skip this file or (2) Yes.
(9) Put a tick in the box at the bottom Left and click on "Yes".
(10) When finished safely disconnect your A500 from your PC and re-boot your A500.
(11) After re-boot go back into "USB Mount All", chose top Right menu and settings box and remove the tick from the 3rd option "Mount on Bootup". Each time you are going to copy, move or delete files first of all put the tick back in the 3rd box and when you're done take it out.
Your Done. If you use any File Explorer to look at /mnt/external_sd you will see all the files residing on your sd card including those you've just copied.
Moved as not development, please read the rules and post in the correct section ONLY.

Cant copy file FROM sd TO internal-phone

ANdroid 6.0.1 S7Edge
Geezuz....this shouldnt require a post to figure out, but.....
Because my good ol' KeepassDroid password app cannot write to a database file on the SD, I must move/copy the database file FROM the sd TO the internal phone storage when I get a new phone..
I plug the phone into the PC.
On the phone I drag down to notifications, select the USB Charging notification, change to "File Transfer"
Now the PC can see CARD and PHONE
I copy the file from the CARD to the PHONE
Disconnect.
On the phone I open my KeepassDroid app, navigate to tell it where the new database file is, and......
....wait for it.....
It shows up ON THE SD CARD
In anticipation of some of your well-meaning responses let me assure you that:
- I'm POSITIVE I'm looking at the file I JUST COPIED to PHONE and not the original file from SD ( I even renamed it in the PHONE location to ensure I wasnt screwin' the pooch there)
-I DO NOT want to get a NEW app because I don't want to re-enter dozens/hundreds of entries.
Its almost as thought Android 6.0.1 is allocating CARD space as "internal storage" space to "help" us stupid phone-users along (to which I say "stop helping")
Any sage advice?

Songs and Videos saved in MicroSd Card disappear

I save Songs and Videos in Songs Folder and Videos Folder created in MicroSd Card inserted in my Samsung M30s.But they disappear after some time. How to keep them secure in these folders?
Maybe you have some service enabled on your phone that wipes memory from files not used for a certain period of time, or moves them to the cloud. You know your phone best yourself. Did you connect the microSD as external memory or internally?
Which might be that services? Can you name some for an example?I connected the MicroSd as External Memory.
Look first in this application, where you have selected a directory in the external memory.
You can also move files to another location on the microSD yourself before they disappear in the location where they disappear.

Thank you ze7zez.First I shall try moving these files to already existing folders in the Sdcard watch whether they are disappearing.Afterwards I shall report the result here.
Do not use directories that the system or applications have posed.
Create a DATA directory yourself and move files to it.
Thank you ze7zez,
As you advised,I moved the Video files to the Movies folder and the Audio files to the Music folders. You know these folders are designated by the Phone itself whien I inserted the MicroSd Card for the first time. Then I watched for a day to see whether the files are disappeared from these folders.I found that those files are there still in these folders. Now I want to know why these files vanish from the folders created by me?
Describe /the actions you perform/name the applications you use/ that place files in directories where they later disappear.
I used File Manager Plus Application to move video files to Videos Folder and Audio files to Songs Folder. These Videos and Songs Folders were created by myself in the Sdcard. And these files were moved from the Send Anywhere Folder in the Sdcard itself. And to my dismay this Send Anywhere Folder itself was also created by myself in the Sdcard. Also the files in this folder remain in tact. They won't disappear.
So did the files disappear from the "Send Anywhere" directory?
What application placed the files in "Send Anywhere"?
The files did not disappear from the Send Anywhere Folder. They are still there since 3 days. This SendAnywhere directory got these files by transferring from another phone using Send Anywhere App.
