Hoping someone can help me ASAP. I was running sacs v3. I started getting issues when I opened up settings on my phone so I tried to dirty flash over the same ROM. Did that then had no network. Looked into that found it said to reflash NAE modem did that. But then I got a blue android guy. I am able to get into recovery when i try to install ROM it goes really fast then I reboot it says to fix root I say yes. Then it stalls on samsung galaxy S4 screen. Help please

Can you ODIN back to NAE stock and see if that fixes it? Then try your ROM of choice after going back to complete stock?

Hello guys,
I installed the ROM under this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288531&page=13
The flashing of the ROM was successful but the only thing that it's not working with this flash is that I'm unable to turn on my wifi feature.
Is there a way to fix this without remodifying the ROM?
Any help will do. Thanks guys!!

First just an FYI questions go in the QA section. This will be moved there by a Mod so just giving you a heads up. Were you on MDC or MDL before you flashed the rom?

That's what I was thinking. That Rom is MDC based. So you have MDL Firmware but MDC System. If you want to stick with that rom here is what I would do. Make a backup. Odin the stock MDC tar twice, don't ask just better this way . Install custom recovery back on. Restore only the system. You should be fixed. Or you could probably get away with just installing the MDC Kernel. You can find the tar and kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256514
Flash a custom kernel and your Wifi will work.

That's a great suggestion there crawjr. I will try the kernal suggestion first if anything. Even though i feel uncomfortable messing with the kernel system. Sorry for the noob questions I haven't been on this page for ages since the G2 was first released lol. :good:
I activated my S4, and I 'thought' I had taken the MDL update before I rooted, apparently not. My WIFI will not come on and I get the nag notice every time I try to open. Upon looking at my About Device screen I see that that my baseband version is L720VPUAMDC but my Build number shows JDQ39.L720VPUAMDL.
Used CF-Root and it seems to be holding according to Root Checker. I am currently downloading the stock MDC restore in an attempt to correct this problem. My hopes is a flash back to stock and starting from scratch will fix my woes. Am I wrong?
No custom recovery installed.I did a factory reset when I saw things were going bad. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend flashing the stock MDC firmware and starting from there.
Here is a link to "[HOW TO]Install Latest Stock MDL Firmware & Modem w/Custom Recovery & Root"

There is step by step info on flashing the stock MDC firmware, upgrading to MDL, rooting, and flashing a custom recovery if you are interested.

The first 2 links on that page are to Odin and the Stock MDC firmware.
There are step by step instructions listed on how you will use Odin to flash the Stock MDC firmware.
I am currently downloading the SPH-L720_MDC_STOCK_RESTORE.exe file I found from another link. Do you think that will pose a problem? I would really hate to stop my current download and start all over.

ok i had the sprint gs4 but traded it for the htc one.. but i dont remember how i did it.. but he is still on MDL and he wants to be on MF9.. i rooted his phone months ago put twrp on it and flashed freegs4 rom.. i just went to his house to try and update it for him and i flashed the firmwear update in odin everything went great i looked in about phone and its still MDL?? so how do i update him to MF9 the rite way>? thanks
Grab the full Odin frimware tar and flash that. It'll bring it up to MF9 completely stock. Then use CF Autoroot to get root, install goomanager and install twrp or cwm.

The baseband shows as MDL still?
Or the software version does? Or both?
If you're on an old version of freegs4, it's probably based off of a MDL build, and the software version would still show MDL.
Check the baseband.

Its better if you just flash him straight mf9 stock rather than just flash an mf9 rom. Could save him and you from any troubles. Like the one your encountering now.

I think leader builder had the best solution then. A full reload of the MF9 firmware then reroot with chainfire.

Hello,
First off I am very new to this. I always try to be as careful as possible and do as much research as I can. I follow all the steps as directed and ask questions ahead of time before screwing things up.
My problem now is I accepted an OTA update to 4.3 from what I thought was a stock 4.2.2. Apparently I was wrong and the superUSER app was still installed on my phone. I no longer have the ability to use my WiFi- (I switch the toggle and it just stays off) I have tried to reset and restore. I have tried to delete all data and re-install. I have tried everything I'm comfortable with at this point. I dont know if I should try using ODIN to flash stock since I probably have a knox bootlocker and dont want to do more damage. I am posting photos because I noticed my naseband and my build number don't match up. I am afraid im stuck in between 4.2.2 and 4.3. I would greatly appreciate any advice or even a push in the right direction. I have been searching trying to find a solution for over a month and the most I can get is... "your an idiot, dont update OTA while rooted, etc etc" Hindsight is 20/20. Thank you again for your time.

I am not an expert but from what Im seeing your on a 4.3 rom but the modem did not update. Your modem is still mf9. I would flash a 4.2 rom and go from there. I don't want to give the wrong info hopefully someone can chime in that knows more than me.

Yeah that is what I was noticing as well. I have soft bricked my phone twice now trying to use odin and going back to a stock 4.2. The flash says fail everytime. I am wondering if KNOX is blocking ODIN from flashing the new ROM. Thanks for your quick response and I guess this means I am on the right path. Now I just need to find a way to flash a stock 4.2 on my fluster clucked half 4.2 half 4.3 phone.
I do know that once you're on MJA there's no going backwards. Try odining the modem. Make sure you turn your phone off...then boot to DL mode. Don't just boot to DL mode seems to work better that way.

I would suggest first trying to reinstall your mf9 modem via odin , if that doesn't work I'd try to install the mja modem via odin. You can find the links to files here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42954149&postcount=2
And a thread about a similar issue so you can get a better idea of what you need to do.

I was interested in upgrading to Kitkat, and when I used Odin to flash it, it all went smoothly, said complete, then when it restarted it only gets to black screen after the samsung splash. I'm not sure what to do from here, was hoping one of the wizards here would know.

Are you trying to update to the rooted 4.4.2 build by Beanstown? If so you have to be rooted on 4.3 and flash his odex or deodexed build with safestrap 3.65. Then boot to download mode and flash the firmware with odin. If you tried to just flash the firmware it's not going to work.
Follow the direction in this threads op.

You're going to have to install the VRUBMJE .tar.md5 file through Odin with your phone in download mode (hold volume down, power and home with the device turned off), then reroot with Kingo 1.1.6. You do not need the PIT file for Odin.
