So, after I updated my Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 (international) to Android 4.4.2, the Micro-SD card directory changed and now no apps can recognize it at all. I've tried flashing different roms such as the Google Play Edition rom, AOKP, Cyanogenmod, and none of them fixed the problem. The new directory is:
/storage/sdcard1
instead of:
/mnt/media-rw/SD card
Is there a way to move the SD card directory back to /mnt/media-rw/SD card? If there isn't, is there another way to fix this problem?
I'm rooted and currently running AOKP. Sorry if this is a stupid question.
Thanks!

Hi,
I don't think it's Galaxy S related so if it's the wrong place, it would be great if someone could move it to Android general.
So, I own a Samsung Galaxy S (international) and a micro SD Card Kingston. This morning, I tried to modify my GS (get root access, use voodoo lagfix, ...) and now, I have a problem.
When I start the GS, everything works fine, I can see my SD Card and my music on it. If I connect the GS on a computer (Gentoo or Windows, doesn't matter), the OS doesn't detect the 32GB SD Card.
When I turn off the USB connection, my SD Card disappeared, I can't access it from the GS anymore.
I have the external SD Card that is a perfect copy of Internal SD Card (~6GB) => Settings -> SD Card and phone storage.
If I want to get access to my 32GB SD Card, I have to reboot my GS.
By the way, I did a backup with MyBackup (I removed the 32GB SD when i did that) and the app copied the backup in /mnt/sdcard/external_sd which was empty.
So now, here is the /mnt/sdcard/external_sd :
Boot (32GB activated) :
/mnt/sdcard/external_sd = 32GB SD Card content (music, movies, ...)
After connecting the USB and change the GS as mass storage device :
/mnt/sdcard/external_sd = MyBackup's backup (6GB content).
Another thing, If i reboot the GS and connect it to kies (not mass storage), I can find my 32GB SD Card and when I close Kies, it's still okay in the Galaxy S, I can still use my 32 GB SD Card.
It's strange.
Can someone help me with this ?
Thanks.
I had a similar problem with my sgs some time ago with stock rom. Samsung support suggested me to hard reset.
After flashing a new firmware everything worked flawlessly.
Kies might be the problem.
Dont know a lot anyway.

Hi,
thanks for the answer. I'll try another ROM.
Btw, I read that Gingerbread is coming out in March. If I use a custom ROM (Darky 9.2, Insanity, CM7, ... whatever), could it be possible to get the Samsung Update (after a factory reset for example).
For the moment, I have a voodoo lagfix with recovery mode (e2). Could it be broken after the update ?
Thanks.

No you will need Odin and stock rom or a custom rom .
Kies upgrade path requires correct product code and firmware and hardware codes .

Hi,
are you sure about that ? I tried another ROM called Darky Rom 9.2 Resurrection and I had a wifi problem (couldn't get IP address : if anyone can help me with this because I really did like this ROM). I was bored trying so I connected the SGS to Kies and it installed me Froyo.
After that, I still had to use Voodoo kernel but my SGS is working just fine.
Hey folks,
Big issue here, after installing Liquid ROM 3.0 on my DX running the GB OTA, my SD card is set as Read Only, and I don't see a way to change it.
I can't change permissions from Root Explorer, and now I can't even download things to the card.
Anyone know what to do?
Thanks.
**Edit** Fixed - went to Settings>Storage> Unmounted then remounted card.
Hey all. Just picked up my s4 yesterday and I immediately rooted and flashed slimbean. It's a beautiful thing but I'd really like to find a bug free DEBLOATED touch wiz ROM just for sh*ts and giggles too. I'm hoping someone here can suggest one. Please, bug free and debloated.
Secondly, question about 4.2.2 and flashing ROMs. Is there still the issue caused by the multi user support which leads to a bunch of directories within directories on the internal SD card? Coming from the s3 and the note 2, I know that was an issue. After flashing a few 4.2.2 ROMs, you'd have all your SD card contents moved within a new "0" directory a bunch of times. The way I worked around it was to copy all the contents of my internal SD to my external SD. Then before flashing I'd wipe the internal SD card. Finally after flashing my new 4.2.2 ROM, I'd copy the contents back from external to internal.
Thanks in advance!

I have searched a similar problem in this fórum for some hours, but could not find.
I have a 64GB sandisk microsd card in my Galaxy S5 (I9505). I started using this card when my phone had jelly bean 4.2.2. Everything was fine, I had filled more than 30GB of it with music.
Then, around 1 month ago, I decided to update my phone to kitkat 4.4.2. I did this, then rooted it again. After this, I read that kitkat does not accept apps to write in the sdcard, so I installed the kitkat external sd card patcher, which changes the permission files so that the card can be writable again.
But even doing so, I can not write (or copy or even delete) anything in this sdcard. I tried to format it in Windows, DOS, and also inside the phone, but I do not get. I can read all the files (play all the musics) in it , but no write operation.
Any suggestion on how to proceed to fix this? How could this happen?
Thanks for any hint...
Try to update your phone to the latest update android 4.4.2.

It's already updated to Android 4.4.2; this issue with the sdcard has happened after the update to 4.4.2.

Try to run this APP and tell me if it works. Good luck
Hi Joku1981, I tried this App, but it did not work. The problem is in the sdcard, not in the Phone. It started when I updated from jelly bean (4.2.2) to kitkat (4.4.2).
I recently upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow on my Moto X Pure (by flashing a rooted stock ROM).
I noticed that my external SD card (microSD) is now mounted in /storage/ABCD-123/. I want to use this external SD card as just dumb storage (for movies). The problem is that a lot of old apps from Android 5.1 and earlier expect to find the content
Is there any rhyme or reason why Android 6.0 now mounts it as /ABCD-123/? Any way to put some kind of friendly alias / pointer / link, so that I can reference it as /storage/extSD/ or a similar friendly name?
same here..
now i am not able to save downloaded file to specific folder in SD card for Apps Like Uc browser or tubemate
I'm hoping to figure this out, too. I just installed Mashmallow on my HTC One M8 and can't get the external sd to be writable either. I tried the old KitKat/Lollipop Xposed module fix but that didn't work. Looking for other solutions now without having to resort to 'format as internal'.
This might be a long shot but have you properly formatted the card with ext4 or NTFS (or your choice)?
