V2.2 Released! Grab It From Download Area. Also release v2.1 in Odex
Finally Working Download Booster, may work for other variants as well! Thank you to all who assisted in this project and to all my testers. If you're a developer and want to use my MOD for DBooster, PM me. Don't just use without permission.
Carriers thought they disabled it for consumers to not use, I don't believe in restricting the promised features Samsung said were included. Power to the Users!

Edit 4/16: WIP, still testing to see what may work. Any info towards file on variant where download booster is enabled would be appreciated (ie, extracting file from T mobile version and posting on forum). Will try to work on it. Currently looking into the S4 forums towards the path and edits needed to make it work.
EDIT 4/18: need framework-res.apk and SecSettings.apk from phone variant that has download booster as an option so I can try to port it to our device.
EDIT 4/23: so Ive gathered the T mobile versions of the apks and decompiled. Ive managed to get the download booster in Sprint Variant settings as of now and easy enable from touchwiz (see screenshot). Still working to fully enable.
EDIT 4/26: see post 30 screenshot, need to find this file location.
EDIT 4/26 #2: after help from miked63017 pointing me to a post by eyecon82, along with what I've found from various ROMs and Db files/etc, I have enabled Download Booster in the Notification Panel drop down (see screenshot). Now to get it fully working.
EDIT 4/28: after decompile of SystemUI, NWBooster actually has many places within, mostly smali edits needed to enabled under Network Controller. The Network Booster is actually related (by searching the SQLite Editor->Settings Storage->Settings.db->system->search for "Smart") to Smart Bonding to the Quick Tile for NWBooster. Also, through decompile of the SystemUI, under Network Controller, I noticed a ro.config.combined_signal (still deciding what this actually is based on file).
EDIT 5/4: I've linked the download booster (aka nwbooster/network booster/smart bonding) to WFC (also called Wificalling). By noticing that smartbonding (under settings.db from SettingsProvider) that Wificalling AND Download Booster both tripped the smart_bonding to become 1 from 0 (showing enabled). I looked again into the Settings.apk decompiled and found that DBooster is linked to WifiCalling, meaning we get one enabled, we get both. I also know, that under /System/framework that TmoWfcUtils.jar exists which does have functioning into why T-mobile has both the Wificalling and Download Booster enabled. I believe this jar has something to do with Dbooster and it being enabled. If you'd like to assist in this project, please PM me.
EDIT 5/6: Possible fix may have been found, need testers to confirm. Requires root (obviously), custom recovery, and LTE signal in area for test (3G will not work). If tests go good, I'll release a flash zip for all download booster fixes, settings and all. Hoping this works.
EDIT 5/7: WORKING DBooster, now going to finalize files for flash zip to allow everyone to use as well. Going to assign credits and make sure other threads for other variants get it as well.
EDIT 5/7 #2: Think I may be on to where the Download Booster Restrictions are and may be closer to removing them so all Downloads work (possibly). In theory, by removing the ratio needed for DBooster to work (which is LTE:Wifi ratio), it should in turn work via 3G as well as LTE since no parameter to either speed determining the other. Have to see tomorrow when working on it, midnight here and need to be up early. Just glad progress in it being enabled haha.
EDIT 5/9: Believe I found restriction points for DBooster and need to remove them. Will beta test once done.
EDIT 5/13: Faster/better range/more available spots for it to work.... I present NWBooster-v2. I also have now a flashable zip for Sprint settings so you can easily switch back and forth to update PRL/Profile (for now until I can get fully MOD settings with both built in)
EDIT 5/16: Version 2.1 Release, small changes/fixes with DBooster and SecSettings Addition (added Mobile HotSpot App to appear in Launcher and few options, check it out!) Wificalling option in More Network settings will FC, this is option for upcoming MOD (hint)
EDIT 5/28: v2.1 Odex release. Also, still working on hotspot mod to work with DBOOSTER, not playing well together. Still in beta.
EDIT 5/29: v2.2 Released, 3G working for myself (may be certain sites but see screenshot in statusbar). Will not show in Notification Area as LTE (which reads 0 since its 3G, no worries). SecSettings should work now BUT see my post for v2.2 release POST 229 for details on what has to be done, follow Specific or it may not work.
Special thanks to ram9200 for framework file, to my beta testers as well.

Even though enabled, apparently, somewhere in the framework/settings, it's disabled from working right yet, trying to work on getting it up and going hopefully for Sprint variant then all other variants who don't have it (assuming sprint doesn't release an update for it, not counting on that though yet).

I don't get why people care about this even. How many of you regularly download files over 50Meg? I rather have the one less app eating CPU and RAM power.
If I am on Wifi my download would be almost instant anyway lol.
It's a neat concept but for mobile phone no practical use. Now a laptop with built in 4G and WiFi might be cool to use if doing huge transfers.

Yea but if you're already on WiFi an 700-800M rom isn't going to take long enough that an extra few Mbps would help lol.
When I am at home on my WiFi it downloads the rom in around a min. Grant it my connection is prob faster vs. most but still.
For the few times you would use it the trade off is CPU/RAM being eaten even when not using it 99% of the other time.
Just my thoughts though.
I can't imagine you downloading a Rom multiple times a day to be useful. I understand at first maybe to try new ones as it's a new phone but I just thinking more long term I guess.

I don't think you know what you're talking about because DL Booster can be turned off when not in use. Plus you could possibly double your DL speed, so how could you possibly rationalize that it wouldn't help...

It's possible IMS Settings could have that purpose, I've seen mention of it in regard to some T-Mobile devices however IMSLogger+ has no known function whatsoever, it's simply an app called logger that has access to everything you do and everything your id does in relation to your device. As far as I can tell there is absolutely no cost in disabling this application so until someone can identify a function that requires this to be enabled, it's simply common sense to do so.
Further, and I have no idea if it's relevant or not, but even it's naming convention is different from the other associated applications:
com.sec.ims 1.0
IMS Service 1.0
IMS Settings 1.0
com.sec.imslogger 1.20150211_LDM
I understand I'm offering an incomplete picture here, but our corporate 'benefactors' have a long history of being as shady as they possibly can be until they are caught and then they just try something else... Our data is a commodity resource to these people so they'll do what they can to acquire it.
In the end it's a question of trust. I don't, so I uninstalled it, but I wanted to pass on the information should anyone else want to do the same.
Another NSA feature for the American fellows.

If your country or carrier doesn't have VoLTE then you won't have it enabled on your phone, that's why you can't find it.
EDIT:
You can check here if your carrier has it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VoLTE#Deployment
So far it's only launched in Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, and USA. But even in those countries, only a few carriers have it.
Good old NSA must have had something worked out with Samsung. I bought mine in Hung Coc* as well and it too came with this IMSlogger as well that has and asks for every permission you never even thought about. No uninstall option either.
Every permission possible has been ticked by developer.

Silent Logging is not turned on by default that's why it's safe to disable.
From the looks of it, it logs diagnostic info from the cell modem. I think it's only ever used for diagnostic purposes though and is not ever turned on normally. You can enable in Service Mode or if you set system property dev.silentlog.on set to "on".
If you don't have any of the log files at:
Code:
/data/log/Slog_ril_xxxxx.log
/data/log/Slog_main_xxxxx.log (where xxxxx is the time the log got saved)
Or the config file at:
Code:
/data/slog/SilentLog
...then you don't have Silent Logging running.
As for IMSLogger, it doesn't look nefarious. It is for VoLTE though, so has anyone tried if VoLTE still work when you have IMSLogger disabled/deleted. Mind you, VoIP or Skype or any other IP/SIP over wifi or LTE is NOT VoLTE (VoLTE is specifically optimised for voice using IMS whereas none of the others are). So to test, make sure you are actually using VoLTE (and that you have it enabled in your carrier plan) and not some other VoIP solution.
It's LMS Logger
And it stands for LetMeSpy I found it on my phone as well
IMSLogger+ is used by Samsung engineers to get the processor logs and interfaces logs from the phone for debugging purposes. In Engineering firmwares it can export the IP traces in PCAP format and it has a nice interface to see all the VoLTE/SIP messages in real time. Basically it can log all the calls signalization, excluding the voice packets.
It's launched from the IMS Settings application that is used to customize VoLTE/VoWIFI/RCS parameters for each operator.
By default the IMSLogger+ doesn't log anything, Below you have a movie done from my rooted Samsung S6 Edge G925F that shows how to launch the application. I'm sure IMSLogger+ can be disabled without any impact to VoLTE. Maybe Samsung should have done it from the very beginning.

Mobile Data on/off toggle is missing in the quick toggles when we pull down the statusbar. I want it back. Anyways to do that?
+1 This for sure. I pre-ordered my S7 Edge and I love this phone, but what blew me away was when I noticed this right off the bat after walking out of the AT&T store. I tried to turn off my data to save on my plan unless I absolutely needed it, and the toggle is nowhere to be found. I switched from a Galaxy S4 Active SHV-E470S and the toggle was always there even after the OTA update. This phone is brand new. WTF Samsung?
One thing I did notice is that the "Usage Manager" app that is pre-installed from AT&T has a data toggle built into it that turns off the data, but it seems more like a modified application to work with the phone rather than a system toggle that could be linked somewhere. Very odd.
Anyone with an answer or any ideas on this, your help is tremendously appreciated!
EDIT:
Here's a screenshot of the AT&T Usage Manager app I mentioned earlier, not sure it will be of much help but we have to start somewhere.

That's weird, I have my data toggle switch right here. Been there since I got the phone.
http://imgur.com/08wb0xl
Same here no mobile data toggle option. Also with my s6 before, i tried the Quick Panel Restore app on galaxy app store, and it works. But i couldn't fine it anymore.
@sindre2104 what is your carrier? And when you click the edit option in the toggles panel, does it give you the option to add or remove that toggle? That's very odd, half of us seem to have no toggle while you and likely a few others do have it. So the S7 Edge does have the data toggle ability.
The question now is, how do the rest of us without that toggle enable it?
AT&T removed it, it's not Samsung's fault.
I have an AT&T S7 Edge, no mobile data toggle. I've tried the quick toggle restore, and the quick toggle manager. I don't believe they work on Android M.
That's strange. Well, I guess for the time being everyone on AT&T will have to stick with the "Usage Manager" app to be able to somewhat quickly toggle mobile data, without digging in the settings app. Talk about an inconvenient change, I haven't the slightest idea why they thought it would be a good idea to remove it.
Who knows though, maybe there will be an update or patch for it soon, or a compatible app that can fix the issue. It's such a common feature, removing it was a horrible idea.
Anyone else having this issue outside of AT&T?
No toggle on my Sprint phone either.
So it seems to be mainly a U.S. issue, I'm guessing (though @mathrania is in India and has the same issue). @sindre2104 showed that he can use the toggle right out of the box, but his carrier is Telenor from Norway.
I'm also noticing a lot of subtle but noticeable differences in each device screenshot presented, for instance my device says "flashlight" rather than "torch" in the toggle window, among other things.
I simply can't figure out why they would remove the feature in certain countries while leaving it there in others. There's no viable explanation for it
I just emailed Xperiacle Apps about this, they're the developers of the patch app released to fix a nearly identical issue that was present in the Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge models called "QuickPanel Manager". The app is $1.48 in the Play Store, linked below:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xpe.app.quicksettings.manager&hl=en
As for the official Samsung "QuickPanel Restore" app released for the S6 and S6 Edge here, I'm going to take the risk and see if it can work on the S7. If not, it's back to the drawing board from there.

No usage app. I have to go to settings/data usage/ to turn off mobile data.
EDIT: I do have a similar app under Settings/Smart manager. That shows battery, storage, and ram usage.
Downloaded the official QuickPanel Restore APK file from the XDA thread and installed it. Lookout registered it as "riskware" so I had to temporarily disable security and unknown sources before the install. It looks nothing like it does on the S6 and S6 Edge, it was just a plain button in the middle of the screen. When tapped it brought up a toast notification that read "no toggles to restore". I checked my toggle window and nothing changed. Seems like we'll have to dig deeper on this one.
Hopefully Samsung releases a similar app for the S7 and S7 Edge to patch the removal of this and other toggles. I'm out of ideas for the moment.
It seems that both the S6 and S7 international versions have the data toggles enabled out of the box. Maybe the software really is engineered this way for the carrier-specific models alone, though I don't know why. I'll post back if I find out anything new, but it's starting to look like they designed it this way intentionally.
I've got the toggle on exynos version purchased direct from Samsung.
Sneaky move is carriers have removed the option from quick settings.
I bought it from Rogers Canada... Why the hell they removed it?
Using international version. Toggle is right here
Using the Canadian S7 Edge (bought from Samsung store but simlocked to Fido) and no toggle. I hope they make an app that lets us restore it soon.

I do not have Enhanced Messaging as an option under my Messages settings at all. Is it there for you? What does enhanced messaging do? I don't have it but I can request a delivery report. Is that the same thing?
Not sure if this is just true for Verizon's variant or if it affects all S7 models, but my device has the old KitKat-style persistent notification whenever there is an active VPN connection, which was something that got removed from AOSP with Lollipop. An unpleasant visitor from the past, for sure.

I've been looking for it on and off today honestly. Wanted to use it for a tasker profile. But it's no longer a settings activity named smartbonding. Been scouring activities all through relevant system apps to try to find something that I think would be it with no luck.
Honestly I havent tried super hard. More just in off time when I remember it, or notice my booster turned off again. (on tmobile so I have the switch in settings to turn it on and off)
But ill keep you posted if I find it
International unlocked 950f model and i have it here. Just search for it
It's disabled and hidden on this version

Your carrier disabled it.

Carrier disabled. Not removed from the system though.
Were trying to figure out the new activity name for it.
Before even when it was disabled, you could use Nova launcher activity to find it in settings.
Use to be called . settings$smartbondingserviceactivity
Okay so from what I can tell there is nothing referring to download Booster or smart bonding in any of the activities. I believe it is part of an activity menu of some sort now and no longer called bonding. I've checked in every activity sub group.

You and me both. I have download booster on tmobile. I feel like they changed it from a settings activity and embedded it so people couldn't do this. What I think i might do later today is debug the phone and see what script comes up when I enable it and report back.
Man. I guess this isn't an issue for most with this device. Is Sprint the only carrier that hid this setting?
Bump...I know someone can do this easily
Still no luck. Anyone else find a thing worth trying yet?
