Odin Flash Not Working - Hanging at Get PIT for mapping - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I downloaded an official Samsung 4.4.2 ROM from SamMobile, it is the correct version for my I9505 etc etc.
When I put my phone in DL mode, jump into Odin, and try to flash, Odin hangs at "Get PIT for mapping..." and never gets any further. I can restart my phone etc no worries, but I just can't upgrade.
I'm running Windows 8.1, is this the issue?
Any help would be great.
EDIT: I believe this issue is that I was plugged in through a USB hub, not direct to my PC. Admins/Mods can I suggest leaving this thread to possibly help others in the future?

Try it on other Pc
Maybe the problem with USB Port, Maybe with windows 8
If you have Kies installed, check the task manager for Kies process and End it
I suggest you use Odin on Pc Running windows 7

Plugging in direct to the PC fixed it. Seems it was the USB hub.
Had already checked Kies. Thanks for the tips.

[Q] Using Odin 1.7

Hi guys,
I am trying to use Odin 1.7, but I cannot get it to recognize my tab while in download mode. I can use Heimdall just fine.
I installed the USB drivers, but Odin does not show anything when I launch it.
I'm on Windows 7 and it shows "Gadget Serial" when plugged in.
Anyone have any advice for me?
Bump, can anyone give any advice? I can't get Odin to see that my tab is connected. Heimdall sees it just fine though.
Note, when I try to install the Odin 1.7 drivers, it tells me that the most updated drivers are already installed. Are the drivers for Heimdall the same ones as the Odin drivers?
Thanks!

First you have to sync with Kies to get the right drivers installed. So download Kies, install it, connect youre tab with the pc and let youre device sync once with Kies. As all is ok, then you will see in youre device-manager from youre pc a "Samsung Mobile device' or something simular.
After that turn on usb-debugging. Put youre phone in the download-modus, [turn it off, press and hold volume-down+powerbutton] Start Odin, and the connect youre phone with the pc. You will see in Odin on the left a yellow box with the com-port.
On the end you are allowed if you dont use Kies to uninstall it. Leave the Samsungdrivers as they are.

I didn't think that Kies recognized CDMA tabs. Is that incorrect? Also, I tried looking the other day, but can you point me to the correct version of Kies to download?
If you use windows 7 it already has the drivers, but you have to connect to the pc, and go to network settings, usb, then copy files to pc, then disconnect, then you can reconnect the tab when it is in download mode.

How to get odin to read phone

I am trying to get odin to read my phone but it won't im running ea28 trying to flash eb01 and ive already installed drivers
[Deleted].....
Sometimes Odin doesn't see my phone but I just restarted.
Try using a different USB cable...
Or maybe you could try reinstalling the drivers and restarting your computer.
Make sure you have the latest drivers installed
Open Odin. Remove battery from phone. Hold the volume down button. Put in USB cable.
Is that the step you took to get into download mode?
Edit: As Rich says above, make sure you have latest driver and correct one (32bit or 64 bit) installed.

Odin Cannot See Note 4

So I'm attemping to use CF AutoRoot on my Note 4. I'm familiar with the process as I've used it on a few Samsung phones at this point. I went through the steps verbatim (installed Samsung Driver, Kies 3, start Odin, select firmware, power off phone, power on with vol-down/home/pwr, select up to put it in "downloading ..." steate, and then connect to USB). However, it never shows up in the ID:COM section. I thought it might be the cable, so I tried 3 different onces. I thought it might be something on the PC, so I tried 2 laptops and a desktop (2 WIndows 7 and 1 Windows 8.1, all of which I have admin on). Tried starting Odin as an Admin too. Rebooted all of the machines. Took out the battery on the phone for a couple minutes and booted in to the loader again. No dice.
Anyone know of any other way I can get this phone to show up on the PC?
Thanks!
Does your device detect by PC in explorer ?
May be your USB pin is faulty. Many times I have seen device can charge but can't connect to PC bcoz of faulty USB socket
And try with the stock cable. Sometime the aftermarket ones don't work as expected.

You need to make sure that KIES is not running (press SHIFT+CTRL+ESC, click on Processes, find the KIES processes and kill them all by clicking on "End Process").
Actually, KIES is completely unnecessary and does more harm than good. All you need are the Samsung drivers, which can be downloaded from here:
http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117
The thing is: if KIES is running in the background, it won't allow Odin to recognize the device, so that is why you should either kill it or (preferably, IMO) uninstall it and keep the drivers. Then you run Odin.
It was the cord on mine.
I dont have the stock cord.
I first plugged it in and it found hardware and started searching and installing drivers, even though I had installed the samsung drivers prior to plugging it in. There were 4 drivers it installed.
Then Odin wouldnt see it. So I tried another cord, with no effect, then a third cord and when I plugged it in, it found and installed 2 more drivers..
Then odin was able to see my note 4.
Hope that helps.
If u are using windows, install samsung drivers in compatibility mode. Right click on drivers icon setup, select install in mode compatibility eith windows 7, and follow the instructions. It must work. Saludos

If the phone won't turn on at all you might be boned.
Odin and all that obviously require you to be able to boot to download mode.
Are you positive the battery is good? Could you find another battery to try?
Does the charging light come on when its plugged in? Are there any signs of life at all?

I think it does turn on because the phone does continue to heat up but its just a black screen also i can put it into download mode and it stays there without being plugged into charge. I'm not sure about the battery ill have to check that out. ill get back to you.
It sounds like you dont have recovery or a rom installed at all.
To fix that you need odin. If the PC wont recognize the phone that is a problem. Did you try a different USB cord to connect to the PC? They are not all created equal.

yes i have used both the original one that came with the phone and the s5 one that my brother has, i have had no luck.
my phone shows up as "msm8960" or mtp usb device also it it device driver software was not successfully installed.
[UPDATE] i have found something similar to odin called JOdin3 that connects to my phone, through this i will try to flash a stock firmware, downloaded from sammobile, and see what happens.
Odin doesn't work without the drivers, and since you had an issue with the drivers that would explain why Odin doesn't work yet JOdin3 does.

No it still wont connect to either but the computer does recognize the phone.
MTP is built into Windows, so the fact the PC detects the phone is a good sign. The entire problem you're having seems to hinge on your PC rejecting the Samsung drivers, which are absolutely required for Odin to function. Those drivers should have no problems installing, and I have successfully installed them on both Windows 7 (x64) and Windows 8.1 machines so I know the installer does work.
There could be many reasons as to the source of your problem, such as a corrupt file or registry entry from when the phone soft-bricked. You want to take a closer look and do some detective work here. Uninstall the drivers if you haven't already done so. Clean out the PC with CCleaner. Even attempt a reinstall of the drivers in the PC's safe mode. Regardless of what you choose to do, if you ever wish to use Odin, you'll need to get this resolved.

yeah ill definitely try to fix the problem because odin is such a great tool. i have uninstalled and installed the samsung drivers but i'll go search the net and what not to try and find a fix. odin was working before when i flashed the stock rom and changed something to mtp and adb (i think i put in an ussd code or something (*#0808#) and through that i was able to use odin) but because the wifi wasn't working on the stock rom, i flashed a custom rom to fix the wifi problem but was once again greeted with the odin problem.

Help trying to install stock bootloader

Hi people,
Long time ago installed TWRP on my samsung galaxy s5 SM-G900f so i could install a custom rom but never got around to it. Recently have realised that i can't update the OS on my phone due to having unauthentic software (or similar term) installed. While trying to reinstall the stock bootloader for android my phone got stuck on a loop of the TWRP logo and will only let me boot into download mode. After researching online I found out that i can stop this by installing CWM which will replace TWRP. Installed odin and everything on my laptop only to find my phone now won't be recognised by my PC and I am therefore stuck on what to do next?? (it would connect before this happened)
Any help will be hugely appreciated, thank you in advance!!
Get a stock ROM from sammobile .com firmware section, put the phone in download mode, and flash with ODIN 3.10.7

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the advice, I have tried that but my laptop won't recognise the phone. I believe i have the correct drivers installed as it used to connect fine. I can put it into download/odin mode but i can't even locate it in the device manager let alone ODIN 3.10.7. If you could link me the correct/official drivers it would be much appreciated as all the one's I've tried have the same result.
Grab KIES3 from samsungs site, that installs the drivers, although windows always seems to install them for me automatically when I connect the phone
http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/
You can try fixing the phone with KIES before ODIN too if you want (Firmware recovery)
Phone has to be in Download mode (Volume Down & Home & Power) to flash from ODIN
ODIN will show a port number at the top when it sees your phone, as seen here with COM6 in blue
http://i-cdn.phonearena.com/images/...samsung--galaxy-s-iii-I535VRALHD-ROM-ODIN.jpg
I've just installed kies and tried both ODIN and emergency firmware recovery but still neither recognise the phone, on Kies3 i get to a menu stating "list of devices requiring emergency recovery" and the box is blank (phone always plugged in, in download mode)
In odin no COM port is recognised, no text in upper boxes
Use a different PC / Cable
Tried both, used 3 different cables and 3 different pc's (2 windows 10 and 1 windows 7) after installing kies and odin on both still got same result as on my laptop. Although on windows 7 after i waited several minutes for the box to light up in odin a message came up from windows saying that no device driver has been installed for "unknown device"? thank you again for your help!
Seems strange that multiple PCs can't see it, there are some samsung drivers kicking about you could try, if I can find them I`ll link here
