Is it safe to install the xposed framework on a stock 4.3 rooted (no recovery installed) Verizon MJE Note 3?
I want to install it and get that Wanam app for customizing, but don't want to brick this thing either.

I'm not an expert, but I recall seeing in the xposed framework documentation that its install process places a file on your external SD that can be flashed in recovery to disable xposed in case an exposed module causes a boot loop. Therefore it would seem that with no recovery installed this might be a problem.
Are you using hashcode's Safestrap on your Note 3?

Without SafeStrap (recovery) installed I would not do anything root related, you're risking a lot. SafeStrap is just an app that you install, then hit install recovery and you're done.
Thanks guys..
I'm use to rom'ing because I had a droid x, Galaxy nexus, then S4 all rooted and romd, but never had to use safestrap. So you just install safestrap app and it can install recovery (twrp or cwm)?
Then I could make a nandroid before messing around.

Safestrap is the recovery. You don't install anything else. If you are on 4.3 then install SS 3.65.

I have a buyer (not sure about selling yet) for my Verizon note 3 be he wants the phone stock and updated to vzw latest official 4.4
I am (kingo) rooted 4.3 jellybean running hyperdrive 7 in slot 1 and stock rooted with updater frozen in slot 0.
What is the easiest way to totally unroot then accept the vzw 4.4 update?
Some have suggested supersu unroot but others have said they were unable to boot into stock rom (or any rom) after using supersu unroot.
Thanks

Ive never done an odin but I do have the files. So using odin do I need to uninstall safestrap recovery first?
Sent from my Hyperdriven Note 3
not necessary, heres a guide:

Make sure to backup your data first, so you can transfer it to your new phone.
Has anyone here tried supersu unroot to do it?

Is rom toolbox capatible with Verizon Gs5 SafeStrap. Is it even compatible with Verizon gs5? If it is, what type of recovery should I select in the options?
Anybody that has even tried?
What is your goal for using RT? You cant flash a custom recovery unless you have an unlocked bootloader Dev edition phone. If you try to flash a recovery on a locked phone you may brick it.

Yes, but it is not the same thing as simply installing a custom recovery on your phone. Just install Safestrap from the thread you referenced.

I have installed right now. So I should just keep away from Rom Toolbox for now?
It depends on what your using rom toolbox for,if your trying to do anything that's recovery depend ( flash roms/zips or recoverys) don't use rom toolbox use ss but for anything else it should be fine at least I haven't had any issues with the s5 or other phones with locked bootloader (dx2 & d2g) but as with everything UEMV, backup ect. and I am not responsible....

Since we now have root access, has anyone found how to enable wifi hotspot? Right now I'm using xposed with moto tether. I already added the wifi hotspot notification button to the quick access panel.

Hasn't this done by removing the tether provisioning checks in the custom ROMs?
I'm not running a custom rom. I'm staying with the stock rom. Do you know what to change to hack the entitlement

I used this mod but I can post the file if you want. Are you on NI2 yet?
Yes, I downgraded to install towelroot and then upgraded back to NI2 kernel.

This should do the trick. Flash this in SafeStrap. I pulled it from my ROM.

Yes. VZW S5
Sorry if this has been explained, but what's the advantage of modifying the framework vs using the xposed module?

Other than not having to use xposed probably none.

Thanks. I've always wondered if there was any advantage. I don't use safestrap or custom roms since a combination of wanam and xposed pretty much gets me what I need.

I'm the oposite, I like to mod the apps and don't like xposed. Nothing personal against it but I always seem to run into problems with xposed.
Thanks. I'll give it a try. I'll Uninstaller xposed then install safestrap and install the zip.

You will need busybox to install safestrap. The files are here under How to Root NI2... and in the root.zip file for easy access. You should be ok with xposed installed.
EDIT: Here is the root.zip
Works like a charm. Thanks for your help. Now I don't have to use xposed.

I have this mod downloaded. Do I just flash the "framework-res.apk" in Odin (I have busybox and safestrap still) to get this to work, without Xposed?

Don't unzip the file just flash it in safestrap. Copy it to your extSD or wherever you can find it and select it with the install button and flash. It will install itself.

did you check whether its properly Rooted using SU or Root checker?
Also not all Kitkat compatible Xposed modules are working with Lollipop (esp in Touchwiz)
And what recovery have you installed to flash ROM?
i checked it with root checker app get it through play store... it shows my device is rooted but still i am not able to install omega rom. i rood my mobile with ( CF-Auto-Root-ha3g-ha3gxx-smn900) with odin BASEBAND N900DDUEBOB1. & STILL IT SHOWS STOCK RECOVERY MODE.
You need to flash recovery separately.
If you read instructions in CF Auto Root, they'd have mentioned as Outcomes as (Root + Stock Recovery)
Flash TWRP or Philz after that

Hello
Quick info
I have Samsung Note 3 n9005 ,stock rom 5.0 , rooted with chainfire root , twrp recovery installed. I really need to hide my root from banking apps. Or at least be able to install xposed on my rom so I can use rootcloack apparentlty xposed isn't compatible with Samsung phone using Android 5.0
Any help?
delete wrong answer
Google.
apparentlty xposed isn't compatible with Samsung phone using Android 5.0
Have you asked on the xposed forum ??
I'm also looking for a way to hide my root from specific application.
I already "googled" it as Dejan Sathanas suggest, and solutions like temporary disable root are not good for me.
Thanks,
Look for app Magisk for hide root

Search and you will find working Xposed. I had used Arter's Xposed version (number I forgot).
I used Xposed with 5.0 AryaMod (stock based ROM) for more than 1.5years.
And then install Rootcloak and things should be fine.

I tried this once. Magisk then systemless xposed, it only got me in boot loop. Have you tried it yourself?
