A few months back, I broke the digitizer on my AT&T G2, and the bottom 5th of the screen stopped registering touches. Which sucks when you have on screen buttons. I was on CM11 at the time, so thankfully I was able to unlock the screen just fine and use screen rotation (combined with the Rotate app) to do almost everything I needed. One time I even did a wipe and clean install of CM11 and was able to use screen rotation to re-set up my phone to how I needed it.
Today I did a clean wipe and flashed CloudyProII 2.0 onto my phone, assuming I could do a similar set-up. Everything went well until the first screen, which has a next button at the bottom and doesn't rotate. I'm not able to pull down the menu bar, and since this is a clean install, ADB is off, and my google account isn't set up. So I decided to just reboot to recovery and re-flash CM11. Only for some reason the LG G2 button combo to reboot to recovery isn't working (maybe CloudyProII removed my custom recovery?), though the Download Mode combo is (and confirms I'm rooted still).
So now I'm stuck with a phone I can't use, and I'm sure there's an easy solution that will get me up and running again. If anyone can offer any advice, I'd be tremendously grateful!
EDIT: I was able to get into recovery and all is good now! Nevermind!

My G1 aka dream will not boot with the slider closed. If I open the Slide and force boot it, I will see the std Tmobile G1 graphic then then the CyanogenMod boot screen. and all is well. I can use phone.... Until I close the slider and it goes to locks. then then I cant unlock, cant get screen response other than the back light and the keys will light up as if they are being pressed. but no output to the screen
If I then open the slide and press End, back and menu (2x) it unlocks and phone works fine.
essentially the phone is dead when closed.
I have gone back in mods, I have downloaded and currently have the Std HTC developers build on here and it is doing the same thing.
Help, I am a Newbe @ this and can do basic flashes, but right now I cant even get the phone to recognise in fastboot. so I don't know if I have a half brick or what.... it's just weird that it works fine when open
Ok. There are no half-bricks. It either is or isn't. Firmare runs or is broken. With that out of the way, your first step is wipe/system reset from recovey, wipe sdcard partitions and reflash cyanogen. Some things to look into (search function in these forums): fix permissions, reroot. Amon_ras recovery. If its not resolved by sofware, something may be wrong with the hardware, in which case go through t-mobile if you have a warranty through them or if your phone is less than a year htc has warranty coverage.

Hope this helps.
I just bought my A500 a couple days ago. I received a couple OTA updates but the last one froze up. After powering down my tablet and bringing it back up the touch is unresponsive.
I've found that if I unplug the power from it I am able to press the power button on and off and that seems to make the touch part work.
However, once I'm in the OS it constantly resets to a black home screen with "Android System" up in the top left corner. Next to that is an icon with a big gear and a small gear with a green belt around them.
The tablet is full stock and I can't enable USB debugging because settings always resets as soon as I get into that area.
I've tried flashing many ROMs using the Power/VOL + recovery mode but none of the ROMs work.
I am assuming that I will need an official ROM in order to actually restore the tablet.
Can anyone help me either track down a stock ROM, ie "update.zip" or help me figure out a way to restore this tablet another way?
Ok, when I plugged in my tablet just now it said USB Debugging was on.
What are my options with pushing an update to the tablet? Are there any methods that would work for me in this case?
Would I be able to root the device at this point and have more recovery options?
Same thing happened to a friend of mine. I followed the directions on this page to fix it:

Basically you are just making it revert to a earlier version.

You are awesome! I've been looking and looking for an image that would work and the one at the bottom of that thread worked like a charm!
Thank you so much for your help!
This rom is not rooted correct? I need to go back to factory to return for warranty.
So basically my phone was stock but rooted and modded slightly with volume boost, camera mod, and the multi window mod as well. Other than that its all stock and never flashed a Rom on it. The phone ran smooth about 90% of the time but there were little quirks here and there that kind of bugged me. For example, every once in a while the screen wouldnt wake up after being locked via button or double tap. Wifi wouldnt respond randomly unless I reset my phone. Things of that nature, but anyhow I decided maybe hard reseting my phone might clear up some of these issues. I got into TWRP from AutoRec, and checked off everything except internal storage. I believe they were Davlik, Cache, System and obviously it didnt work out for me. I feel like me checking off the system is what did it because it wasnt considered a basic swipe at that point. Anyhow I cant get to recovery, download mode or anything of that sort. Everytime I hold down the power button it just resets and brings me back to the LG logo and just sits there while the led lights keeps rotating colors. Is my phone done for?
edit: Oh yea one last thing, I remember when I went to reboot it I somehow ended up being asked if I wanted to install SuperSU and I said yes. And than at that point it went to restart my phone and got stuck.

You wiped system. That's your rom. Don't wipe system unless you plan on flashing a rom. You should still be able to get back to recovery. From phone powered off state ( hold power and volume up when lg logo is on). Hold power and volume down, when lg comes on, release both, then hold both again. You should now be at the factory reset screen. Press power three times (it's not going to factory reset). You should be in recovery. From here, restore your backup. If you don't have a backup, you just found out the reason why you should always have a backup. If you don't have a backup, you're going to need to install a rom via adb or otg (assuming your recovery is up to date). You can also tot or kdz back to stock (wipes sdcard though).

So I recently bought a Verzion version of the LG G2 from some guy and it was working fine. After I had it activated Verizon was downloading a Software or System update and after it installed, my phone never booted up to the main screen. Turns out the phone was rooted and had flashed ROMs and what not. I don't really know what it exactly means but I'm starting to understand more and more the more I try to fix it. As of now the only thing my phone does is boot up to the Team Win Recovery Project v2.8.1.9. Not knowing what I was doing, I wiped everything from the phone so the only thing on the SD is the TWRP file. When I go to the reboot option > Power Off I get sent into the screen "Swipe to power off" Above the swipe It says no OS installed. Once I swipe I get put into another Swipe screen but this time it's swipe to install. "Your device does not appear to be rooted. Install SuperSU now?" When I swipe to install, the phone's CMD shows for about a second then it reboots. Note* When I go to the factory reset screen(Holding Vol down and power button) The top left of the screen says rooted. Again nothing besides TWRP files are on the SD card.
What I have downloaded:
LG G2 driver
KitKat_Baseband_VS980
ABD and Android Studio with SDK manager
I was searching on all sorts of forums and they're saying CloudyG3_2.1 is a good way to get the phone working again so I have it downloaded as well.
Also just downloaded ioroot
I tried sideloading it but couldn't really understand how it worked. I couldn't get the files into my phone. ROMs don't really matter as of now because I can't even use my phone, I'm really just trying to get my phone to factory settings as if it was never Flashed/Hacked. If i do manage to recieve help and fix my phone I wouldn't mind added the cool stuff but as of now I just want my phone back.
Please Help!!
So, yesterday my father said his S4 had just shut itself down and that now it only reboots itself and he can't boot the phone.
He asked me to see if I can get it working again and if not try to get the internal data of it, and we tried all evening to see if I could get it working with no success, we tried everything from changing to his second battery and I can't remember what made it work, but all of a sudden it was alive again and it worked for about 3 mins before restarting itself over and over again.
So now he has a phone that is stuck on the first logo screen (The screen that says "Samsung Galaxy S4") and I've tried to flash TWRP to see if I could get MTP to work for moving the files from the /data partition to my PC with no sucess.
He had decided to use his phone for a few more months before he would get a new phone but because of this he have now bought a S8.
So I want some help to see if anyone knows how I can get the files from the hard-bricked phone.
The phone was and is on stock Lollipop 5.0.1 and he hasn't touched the system in anyway until I tried to flash TWRP which did pass in Odin but it got stuck on the "Booting Recovery" until it restarted itself again. The weird thing is that the phone stays on in Download mode and doesn't restart itself there which leads me to think there isn't any hardware error.
Any help is much appreciated!
Just tried to reflash the system, got a little further but then it got into the same problem. It boots which is good, but after a a few seconds it restarts itself, I will attempt to move the files in this short period. But if anyone got a better idea, please tell me.
*Edit: It restarts way too often, sometimes (About 1/10 times) it manages to boot into the OS but then almost immediatly restarts. I've read that it might be the power button that has some dust inside it or something. Seems like after all it must be the hardware? But the weird thing is that it still can stay on inside the download mode, and when I'm holding the button there it shuts down, but not automaticly. I can get into the stock recovery but installing TWRP doesn't work.
If you tried installing TWRP 3.2.0-0 it has an issue with the S4. Use 3.1.1-0 or 3.1.1-1 instead. From there, you should be able to get the data off the internal storage. Once you do, give the side with the power button a firm whack on a table. If there's any grit in the power button, that may loosen it and restore the button to operating condition. Of course, you could get a replacement button but it may not be worth it despite the button being inexpensive and relatively easy to replace.

Not sure how I feel about whacking the phone (Even if it's firmly) on a table. But yes, I tried TWRP 3.2.0-0 so I'll try 3.1.1-1 later today. Thank you for the tip!
Well, I'm not saying you should bash it hard enough to break the phone, but it can't be a light tap either.
I didn't originally come up with the idea. I just promote it as a quick fix. A more permanent solution is to replace the button.
