I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 MDL That I tried casual on and it "kinda" worked.... I did my TWRP backup but I can't do a three button recovery to TWRP always rolls back to stock recovery. I tried reroot with motochopper and it IS rooted switched from superuser to superSU without issue and uninstalled superuser. Loaded CWM from rom manager and it works fine...still no three button custom recovery but can load to recovery fine from CWM app. Running Goldeneye 6.3 smoothly for now... why cant I bootload a custom recovery???
Why does everyone think it is 3 buttons....
with the phone off, hold down power+vol up, hold until it vibrates, immediately release power button only, while holding vol up, it will go into recovery...
A good test would be, from inside goldeneye, does it have a recovery menu option when shutting down, and I know it does, I have ran that rom, what happens?

All my root required apps work fine....
SuperSU, Titanium Backup shows full root, ES file explorer, and ROM manager (only for CWM).....
and like I said CWM loads fine on reboot through ROM manager but not using the buttons...
what happens with other recoveries?

Those are the only ones I have attempted....
Here are the exact specifics my phone shows:
SAMSUNG-SGH-377
Ver. 4.2.2
Baseband I337UCUAMDL
Kernel 3.4.0-Adam-1.6+
Build Goldeneye 6.3
SELunix Status Permissive
http://www.android.gs/how-to-enter-samsung-galaxy-s4-recovery-mode/
"Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously."
I can confirm that this worked on my phone, but I'm on MF3. I believe it worked on my last S4 while I was rooted and custom rommed
HI
I have the i9505 samsung s4.
I managed to root it via odin, and flashed the Team win recovery as part of the process. I downloaded root checker and it shows that the device is rooted.
However, when i turn the device off and then try and boot to the custom recover I am finding it impossible.
I hold the volume down, home key then press the power button and keep them pressed. THe phone keeps going to the odin download mode and no further etc. However, I can get to the custom recovery via rom manager. What am i doing wrong??
Using rom manager is fine, however if something goes wrong during a custom rom flash then i will need to use the buttons to boot to custom recovery
Please help
Manny

Hi that's what I did but I don't see a blue logo at any point ... Just goes straight to the Odin download screen. Strange that I can get to recovery via Rom manager

If you flash Philz recovery you can boot only when you turn off your phone and by Hold and pressing Power+Volumeup . Im Guessing your asking the Extended Power menu Option by Pressing Power and choose restart > There should be Reboot Option IE Reboot,Recovery,Downloadmode. Mate is your phone rooted? If you want an Extended power menu option try to install WannamXposed , and Enable it from there, Make sure to follow hes Tutorial. Have a nice day.

hi it is the same with both custom and stock rom. I am now running paranoid 4.4.2.
The issue is that I need an option to get to recovery using the buttons. There is no issues getting to recovery from the power menu once the phone is running
It is really annoying me now
Thanks
Hi guys
Some help please.
I am returning my s4 to stock due to a dodgy home button and I have run triangle away, flashed a stock ROM
the current binary is Samsung Official &
System Status is Official.
All the counters are set to 0x0
which is great.
The problem is the phone does not boot, it stays stuck at the boot screen.
I've tried to boot into the official recovery to reformat the phone, but I can;t get into the recovery either.
Any help is appreciated!
Cheers

Hi,
The way I get into recovery is:
1.remove the battery
2.replace the battery
3.hold volume up + power button
4.as soon as you see the blue writing in the top corner , let go of everything and tap the volume down button.

- Point n° 3 procedure IS ONLY FOR I9505 (qualcomm)
in case of I9500 (sammy core) the 3 buttons combo is the only way to get recovery or downlad mode.
The Op didn't state about his S4 model.
Cheers guys
3 button combo worked on i9505
So I bricked my note 3. I get the Samsung Note 3 boot screen and it stays there. If I do the three button combo I get the blue words "Recovery Booting" along the top but then it just sits there. Is there hope for me and if so can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!
hi
how did you bricked your phone?
if you can enter the downloading mode home+vol down+power flash a stock rom
How? I ended up flashing a less than complete file setup in Odin. I'm a noob...
I kept hitting vol up, forgot about vol down... I'm still in trouble but at least I have something...
I have safe strap installed and was working on putting in Knoxraid. I will play with this and maybe get myself back up.
Thanks, I got Knoxraid installed in mere minutes once you pointed out using the vol down to enter download mode... Thanks!!!

So basically, im a noob. i tried flashing stock lollipop on my galaxy s4 from CyanogenMod with odin, but it says not responding everytime pda is clicked. Now, when i try to boot up the phone with recovery mode (vol up home button and lock) it says "Recovery Booting" in the corner and vibrates twice. Then it tries to boot normally but of course fails with the cyanogenmod splash screen eternally spinning. PLZ HELP :crying: :crying: :crying: i have no other phone

Odin doesn't work. When I click PDA/AP it freezes up. I've tried waiting it out for more than an hour before, so it doesn't work...
First, have u closed all kies procceses at task manager?
Second, does the pc recognizing the device when it in downlad mode?
If it does
Try 2 things:
1) redownload the stock rom. And try again
2) download a differenet version of odin
If not recognizing install the samsung usb drivers first.
