Big bluetooth battery drain - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

At first my bluethooth was only using like 3-6% of my battery but now when I saw it takes like almost more than my screen and the thing is I have never turned on or used Bluetooth, how should i fix that I hate getting low battery life

sooo, no one?

Did you find any solution? Are you on KitKat?

That's incorrect reporting in KitKat. You are not actually losing power from this.

[Q] i9505 battery draining overnight

Hi
i don't particularly have problems with the battery life of my s4, but sometimes i get weird drains, like 25% overnight. The weird thing is i deactivate every toggle except for flight mode and battery saving mode. I thought it's rather peculiar that my battery drains in what in my opinion should be like the most battery friendly mode i could think of.. anyone any suggestions on how to solve this? On the first picture i dont really complain about the first 2 drops because that could be caused by gaming, but maybe it's in there too, the last one however is with all toggles off from a certain point (you can see my wifi and screen turn off), but there isn't really a change in steepness of dropping... the second picture is my toggle setup. Any help would be appreciated

I have exactly same problem! Any ideas?
well as always... first check your wakelocks with better battery stats (free on xda forums).
i had a drain over night too. even on my s2.
it was my routers fault... bought a new one and drain is fixed.
but maybe it's just an app for you which gets your phone out of stand by. so check out better battery stats
Same here. Already used better battery stats. Nothing suspicious which could've drained the battery that much

TRy installing greenify it will tell u which apps are breaking sleep state and u can hibernate it i easily reach 6 plus hrs on my device
And try to delete unused samsung bloatware

If YOU are noticing degraded battery life after kitkat update, post here!

Post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708214
I have noticed faster drain. Weird thing is, blue tooth is keeping awake almost half my battery cycle. I don't even use it, it is off, but yet consuming battery. Never did this until I updated, any ideas?
the bluetooth bug is just merely a display bug, doesnt use any battery juice at all based on all the feedback scatters across the forum :good:

[Q] Android Wear App draning battery

Ever since I downloaded the app and paired my phone with my LG G Watch, I went from a full day's use to only 6 hours on my Oppo Find 7a. Its really frustrating. Tried resetting, redownloading and reinstalling to no avail. My phone even heats up now (something it doesn't normally do). I know with bluetooth and constant connection with the watch, battery life will take a hit but never expected it to be this much. Any one else?

bluetooth's problem
Oppo Find 7a must be defective, bluetooth takes very little battery life. I am thinking up until you had a bluetooth device you never turned it on, you finally turn it on and find the phone is defective.
My Note 3, I never turn off bluetooth off and I can not notice any battery drain.
Looked at the screen shop Android Wear is in some sort of wake lock.
Mine Android Wear is not even listed see Bluetooth at 3% but no Android wear.
You have some utility that maybe cause issue? I never use a battery conserving app they do not work.
or the device which I do not know may not be using 4.4?

Who can read Better Battery Stats well?

Here is the screenshot: some weird service: PowerManager.Service.DIsplay eats my battery like crazy.

what rom? what kernel? what special apps? additional modules, if any, are you using???....trust me mate, it is not the phone, just something you did that is causing it...we can sort it out if you provide some additional detail...

That kernel wakelock almost exactly matches my screen on time. They're a few seconds apart.

TruePure 2.4
-- FrankenClark Kernel
That is just after being unplugged. Now when I listen to music via my BT headset there is about 10% or more drain per 30-60 min.
Let me know what else you need to help me find the bad guy

Just look at it and it's similar here as well. Just looked at screen time. Could it be Screen On Time? still I wish I would knew what else is draining the battery so bad. 1-2 minutes of using the phone from 100% and about 1-2% is lost already.

I am running stock rooted but the same service under Kernal is the same one on my phone that is always at the top but I am not have battery drain issues like that at all. Although my thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/help/bluetooth-power-usage-mm-t3282722 details the issues I have experienced with Bluetooth draining my battery at a high rate. I think there is something going on with the BT on this phone as my Samsung GS4 with the exact same app's installed never uses any BT at all unless I am connected to BT. The MXPE uses BT a ton when I have BT enabled even if I am not connected to anything at all. I agree with one of the other posters that something with your device related to an app or kernel is eating up the battery. Not sure about mine being an app or not, but it could be. I just think the MXPE MM load has some bug maybe with the BT. Who knows but I hate having to turn BT off just to get great battery performance.

You really need to look at partial wake locks also. That first on your list in kernel wake IS basically your screen. There are some other items that get dumped into that, but mostly screen. You've got something else going on.

In that section it's always google play services and now since few days ago it's com.systemui. I googled a lot and really can't find a good resolution or even find what is causing systemui battery drain.

Random thought, do you have GasBuddy installed? I know some people who were having trouble with it lately. Apparently it uses bluetooth so pumps can beam you offers.
GasBuddy started hitting bluetooth constantly and causing problems. I'd think it would give you a bluesleep wakelock. Just occurred to me since you said bluetooth seems to be your main trigger.

The image shows the phone was without signal for some time which was about 32% and it will consume power. Don't know the reason behind this, but if phone really had no signal for a long time, then be in another place where there is a good signal and test there. I have seen few times with my old Moto X, that sometimes after using internet via mobile network(without wifi), the connecting would somehow still be open and it would consume battery and the way to fix this, I had to restart the phone.

this is ridiculous ! i never had an issue like this with any of my older phones
best bet do a factory reset and see if it still persists
Same happens to me too. Yesterday I went outside my house and traveling in the city - my battery went from 100% to 43% in 6h40min. I had SOT only 1h. I am wondering if something related to GPS is killing the battery as it always drain very fast if i am moving - but in the other hand it seems that phone radio is draining also the battery a lot. Any advices what could I do?

cell standby is not related to gps and location services i dont think so at least iam pretty sure it is mainly phone network related
Cell standby drains too much battery
I'm using Galaxy S8 Exynos Version (Dual Sim). Facing this cell standby extreme battery drain issue recently. I have tried several options like- reset network settings, restart / power off-on, factory reset and wipe cache partition to see if the problem goes away or not. These things can solve the problem only for 2-3 days. Then after that same cell standby battery drain occurs again. The only thing left is to hard reset. But I don't think this will solve the problem either. These are not the permanent solution. When I first got the phone this problem was not there. For the last 2-3 weeks I have been facing this issue and it is bothering me a lot coz my battery drains too much even when i'm not using my phone. I really need a solid solution for this. Can anybody help? And I hope Samsung will address this issue and solve it asap.
I think cell standby is the worst problem in the S8. It really kills battery. It can make your phone drop 2% per hour.
Same issue here. Didn't have this issue before the latest two updates. Before I had 6-7 SoT and now barely 2-3 hours.
yes, this issue was not pronounced before the latest updates (one or two as mentioned)
Same thing here. After the last update there is a battery problem with standby. Hope they fix it with next release.
same with my s8+ dual exynos
