I used a script on my Note 2 using Gscript. I could link a directory from internal memory to a usb stick! But...
...on my Note 3 it doesnt seem to be working although the message i receive after running the script is a clear OK and mistakeless. Using my file explorer though, i cant fin the link i supposed i have made between the 2 folders.
The script i use is:
mount -o bind /storage/UsbDriveA/test/ /storage/emulated/0/test (test folder for example)
and the paths are just fine, otherwise i would receive error message.
Any ideas?
PS: I do not want to use an app for that because of battery drain i experienced on my note 2...

...it doesnt support usb bind and that was the app that caused me a lot of battery drain... Thanks anyway!
Try foldermount? It's the best one out there imo and also works for the note 3

Hello,
I need beta testers running Mac OS X to test a new application.
This application is for people who are either uncomfortable or unwilling to use Terminal and ./adb for pushing files to their device.
This first beta version is just to test how it works on different computers. It pushes the file to the sdcard of the phone using ./adb. The only input needed from the user is to select the file.
Later releases will let the user choose which folder on the device to copy to, but the next release will probably just involve pushing .apk to the /system/app folder.
Please let me know the results.

Beta 2:
http://derekcwilkinson.com/Push_File_Beta_2.zip
Change Log:
Added option to choose the location that the file is to be pushed to.
Added Recovery application
Added Reboot application.
Planned Updates:
Pull File - Ready
Device Backup - PM me if you know a good way to backup with ./adb (mine is taking too long)
Device Backup w/SD - PM me if you know a good way to backup with ./adb (mine is taking too long)
Install .apk - testing
Uninstall .apk - testing
Restore Backup - going to take awhile (need to get device backup working first)
Restore Backup w/SD - going to take awhile (need to get device backup working first)
Flash ROM - testing
is this an actual program or a script?
Works fine for me

It's a program that runs a script
It's just a test to see how it works, I will turn it into a more "real" application later.
I've updated it to Beta 2

Ah, you're using a different language. That could be the problem. Is the folder path still /Documents/Android/SDK/tools on your computer?
Also, when you run it in Automator, where does the error occur?

The folder path in my iMac is /Users/Rainbow/Documents/Android/SDK/tools
the error occur after a few seconds after click OK after choosing the file to be sent to MemoryCard
Okay, if it doesn't occur until then, that means it sees the device and android SDK. Is the SD card mounted on the computer? are you copying to /sdcard/ as the file path?

excited.
Sick of windows..
I am so sick of using a windows computer to do anything on my Hero so as soon as I get home tomorrow I will be trying this out on my system. SL 10.6.4 and I will be so happy to do it..
404 File not found. I'd love to help test this - can someone please re-upload the zip?

I'm using root explorer so this isn't really necessary for me anymore.

I'm a bit confused--PushFile is for pushing files from your Mac to phone (in other words, a computer-side application), while Root Explorer is a file manager for the phone (a phone side app), that, unless I've missed something, does not replicate the functionality that PushFile attempted to provide. Am I missing some cool new feature of Root Explorer that lets you easily transfer files from your Mac to your phone?
Im new to forum but Ive been trolling for the past couple days. I currently rooted my Vibrant with One Click GalaxyRooter. Then purchased Root Explorer to view the hidden files and folders that I need to get to in order to remove some of the stock .apk and odex files.
Im currently in the /system/app directory and the first thing that I want to remove is that avatar icon and files. I long press the file in root explorer to delete it and it allows me to. Only problem is that when I go back or refresh the directory everything is still there even when I reboot my phone.
Any suggestion.

When using Root Explorer, on the top part of the screen, press [Mount R/O] and try again. I think that might solve the issue. Post up the results!
Why didn't you just uninstall the files via titanium backup?

Forget what I said, use Mater's method. lol
I do see the Mount R/O in the top right hand section of the screen and I pressed it but it seems like it didnt do anything. It just shows my memory used / free and r/w [ Mount R/O]
I tried deleting a file still was there when I came back into the directory
How do I access the file directory in Titanium Backup

You don't access the file directory. Titanium Backup will show you a list of ALL apps installed. You simply click and press uninstall. Simple, no fuss. You can even make a backup before you uninstall it in case you need it later. Done.
Use Titanium Backup like everyone said, I also had the same problem with other Root Explorers. Also be sure to delete the .zip file because it might cause problems later. Also do you know what trolling means? I think you meant lurking, because trolling implies you've been trying to get people angry.
I didn't even notice he said he had been trolling LOL. Get back troll! My brain automatically assumed lurking.

Your system is set to read only.
Follow the instructions found in this post (forgive me i'm too new to post links, and i want to give credit to the solution):
hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8643744&postcount=6
Code:
$ mount -o rw,remount -t rfs /dev/block/stl9 /system
Run the command from terminal, and you should then be able to delete the files that you want.
Here do this I had this happen awhile back this worked

Did you SU in the terminal first before you ran the command?
When I exit the file to save my changes it gives me an error and doesn't allow me to save it. Anyone know how to fix this?
Pushing and pulling through adb is a bit annoying.
Make sure you're mounting /system as read/write before making changes!
Another option is to use esfileexplorer (free in the market)and watch this excellent vid on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOZFBqiUvUI
It explains everything you need to do to edit build.prop using esfileexplorer.
Hope this helps!
When I try this method it gives me an error when attempting to save. Any ideas?

Great to hear that! Glad to help when I can!
I am still having trouble with this and hope someone can help. I have never had any problems until this latest flash to cm7 nightly ~138 (not sure exactly, nook not on right now).
I mount system R/W and it says that it worked but when I use es explorer to open build.prop and edit it using es note editer, it says error and I can't save it. Any ideas?
Hey, has anyone got directory bind or file mount to work on the note 3?
I used directory bind on the hd2, note 1 and never had an issue.
However on the note 3 i set up my directories identically to how i did on my previous hand sets. The directory's have the green icon to show they are selected and i have root enabled in the bottom corner. However when i try to run games or apps the data files are not present and start to re download from the server back to the phones internal memory.
i never here of file mount until i had this issue with directory bind. When using file mount out of all my games and apps 2 of the directory's work perfectly fine but the rest do not.
no idea what's going on, but if anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated
Hey, is there a way to make whatsapp save media to sdcard instead of internal storage?
Whatsapp does not support external SD card for storage.

If your phone is rooted, you can make a link from the normal whatsapp folder to the sdcard
make a whatsapp folder on your sdcard, move all of your content and delete the old one and then in console or adb as root type :
ln -s /storage/ExtSdCard/whatsapp /storage/sdcard0/whatsapp
reboot your phone and that should do it.

I tried using folder mount but all it did was move the files and after that I couldn't open new media that came to me.
thanks a lot

If you want to enter the command in the phone directly you'll need to download a terminal emulator from the play store and enter the same commands on the phone, while on the fodler where the original whatsapp folder was located at.

Are you sure this will work? Linux doesn't normally allow cross-device symlinks. Does android behave differently in this regard?

soft links work on linux, it's hard links that are restricted, and even then, since the whole storage procedure is now emulated in android, it shouldn't be a problem
however, you just made me think of something, he'll need to re enable 3rd party write access to the sd card or he'll just keep getting I/O errors, that's disabled on KK by default, i used "NextApp SDFix" from the play store to do it on mine.
