I think we can all agree after seeing this video that once the single speaker ringing thing is fixed,
there will be no issues with ringer volume whatsoever
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kkk516o52-E
Whats good about it? Microphone isn't even pointing in the same direction. Also, his voice or silence is captured in the averaging of the volume - which actually renders his test invalid.
Even if numbers were accurate (throught that iPhone mic) 3 dB difference is huge since its a logarithmic scale.
Also, he is talking about audio quality which has nothing to do with audio amplitude which is what he is trying to measure.

Are you crazy, he is using a Zoom H6 (http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/h6/) with stereo microphone.
It features a complete audio quality meter, this is absolutely a valid test.

The OP talks of ringtone volume, so according to the test Z2 definitely is louder. At least on the chart.

No its still not a valid test. He doesnt point the mic in the same direction towards the speakers. And also the distance is different. And thirdly he is averaging over a timeframe in which there is silence or talk. The test doesnt say anything. And what does this have to do with ringtones?

His talk is added after the video recording... and I find the distance to be about the same, but if they don't, its certainly an invalid test for sure, but you are assuming here.

What kind of internet troll are you?
Its obvious that that mic-pair is very sensitive to where it points. I bet you move that mic 10 degrees and you get a completely different result. Amplitude of sound drops as 1/R^2. He is keeping the mic way to close to the phones as a small change in distance will have a huge impact on amplitude. Put those mics two meters away and you will have a much better comparison.
This test was performed by an amateur with cool gadgets and it says nothing. And by nothing I mean NOTHING.

1.) If you average something using just 2 data points you are getting rubbish
2.) They are directional microphones. Otherwise you wouldn't record stereo properly. As such, you have to take the distance along the trajectory of the mic, and not the shortest distance from the housing of the mic (if so, you would have been correct).
Yeah, I've to agree here that the test is not scientific at all. And the thing about unscientific experiments is that results are inconclusive and can be interpreted either way.
The one thing he could have done to make this perfect was to keep the microphone apparatus in a fixed location and position about 1 meter away from a phone stand, on which the phones should be mounted one by one.

Anyone using Car Home Ultra on their G2?
I have come to rely on the app on my S4, but am switching to a G2 (arriving any day now) and am wondering if anyone has issues.
I like having the GPS speedometer, MP3 player (I use Mortplayer) and assorted quick dial shortcuts available.
Alternatively, what is everyone using in their car?

I have found many cars' built-in speedometers to be wildly inaccurate (more imports, strangely). No joke.
Unless it is part of a sophisticated nav system, it is a mechanical device. They calculate how many rotations of the wheel equal what speed and it can vary drastically according to whether you have the same exact wheels and tires that came on the car to how much air is in them and how well they are aligned. The precision of a calibrated GPS beats them hands down.

Does it need to be rooted? I'm on lollipop, will it work? Thanks
pretty simple mod, I hate how the ringtone and playback volume are not loud enough, so I changed it
MUST HAVE ROOT.
1.Navigate to /system/etc
2.look for mixer_gain.xml, open it up with some type of editors
3. change the value to 26 and 36 for playback speaker (max before running into too much distortion)
4. do the same for ringtone speaker, but I put 37, just a level higher than playback.
5.save the editor (root explorer will make a back up for you)
6.make sure the file correction are RW-R-R-- (I dont think it would changes but it doesnt hurt to check)
7. reboot
8. give me a thanks

you can experiment around with the value, but I wouldn't go above 37. also if anyone know the name to change for the in-call headset let me know
Pretty sure you have to be rooted for this mod. So this means that speaker and in ear speaker volume is again not loud enough... I had to increase it on every Samsung phone I have ever owned, starting with i8910 running on Symbian. Samsung please, wake up and increase the volume of the phone calls, this is ridiculous. It is a phone in a first place. To the Original poster, on my Note 4 I think I increased the "in ear" volume. I don't have Note 5 so I don't know what they call it now.

Thats pretty neat! But how about using simultaneously two different modules? (B&O Hifi plus + QWERTY/Z pad or a device to use multiple sim cards actively (business, privat, data package etc.) Since LG is allowing third party companys to make their own module for the LG G5 there is the potential for good and useless things.

That HiFi DAC + a different and bigger battery = win.
I'd love to see a trackball module like the one on the good old Nexus One and maybe also a USB host type-A module (although it'll be bulky as hell...)
A landscape oriented physical keyboard of course!!! I would love to develop the hardware and software for this and make it a kickstarter if LG is actually open to 3rd party modules (no idea yet?).
I would love a case that connects to the module with an extended battery and maybe a second screen on the back of it, like an e-paper one. That'd be legit
I'm surprised to see that my idea was already mentioned by @onRecord (great minds...), because I fully acknowledge that's it's... a little crazy (but just enough to work!) I think it would be awesome to have an extended display module. I really like the modularity of the G5, but I've had Notes for a while now, and just prefer bigger displays. I'm thinking that the existence of a module that extends the screen about half an inch or a bit more and also contains as much extra external battery as could fit would very possibly convince me to swap my Note 4 for a G5. Usage-wise, it would be sweet to put the soft nav keys and dock on the extension.
It doesn't seem very likely that something like this will ever exist, but I was just thinking what modules would be cool and that was one of the first to come to mind. In any case, props to LG for releasing this legitimately innovative modular feature!
Capacitive buttons +1
An external gaming GPU ? Slide keyboard and a small trackpad would be awesome! Maybe storage moduel? Game controls?(it could be inserted like a phone case!)
Extended battery would be the best xD specially since g5 has a small battery! I wished it had an internal small battery just to last 20-10s for changing the battery without needing to restartit!
A moduel with full size USBs could also be useful! Maybe a moduel with improved wi fi and phone antenna!
(Sorry for typos I'm typing on my phone)

Found a way to increase the volume.
Settings - sound and vibration - sound quality and effects - personalize sound. Start personalizing your sound. It will ask you if you can hear the sound, always answer no. The result is it will amp up the volume of all frequencies.

Found a way to increase the volume.
Settings - sound and vibration - sound quality and effects - personalize sound. Start personalizing your sound. It will ask you if you can hear the sound, always answer no. The result is it will amp up the volume of all frequencies.

Awesome that worked for me. Btw if you don't mind me asking how did you change the color of your status bar icons? And also how did you change your nav bar to those icons? Sorry for the questions

You are talking about the speaker right? If headphones aren't loud enough for you then you may need a trip to the doctor. Lol.

I disabled the sound alive using package disabler Pro. Downloaded equalizer FX. In settings base about 20% and in profiles selected flat. This makes the speaker on this phone very loud.

I think im an idiot .. I downloaded the apk ... and I cant figure out how to change it
Make sure the possible independent volume on your headphones is turned up. My headphones get way louder than I need them to be. I have multiple different pairs of headphones and they are fine. Also do take care your ears. Don't play music so loud you bust your ear drums. ?

I was using the akgs that came with the s8, didn't try to adjust volume on them independently, I suppose i figured wouldn't make a difference.
However i would love to be wrong

I agree, however after trying a few of the volume booster pro's i was getting spammed with all kinds of other booster pro's.
One was the bass booster pro, which actually did work. Better than the bass boosting capabilities of our stock eq.

Wow totally made a big difference!!
Major volume increase, however i am using the head phones from my htc10 will try akg next workout can't imagine it would be the head phones though.
I can't stand the stock ear buds.. they constantly fall out. I switched to Bose ear buds that actually stay on.
Use customize sound and your BT and Earphones can be loud.. and sound great.
Speaker... it's not that loud..
