[Q] 720p playback stutter in MX Player - Omni Q&A

Hi,
my device is Galaxy Nexus Maguro. Been using Cyanogen nightlies for ages, 720p mkv's have been working without any issues. (SW / HW+ custom codec armv7 NEON modes)
On Omnirom, playback stutters (which ever nightly version of the rom since it's been available to maguro device)
Can anyone confirm (on this device / any other) / help me out please ?
I suppose it has something to do with HW accel....
thx in advance

CM10 + 4AI.1.7 kernel video/MP4 hardware acceleration broken

Installed on my Kindle Fire [09/16] CM10 STOCK + 4AI.1.7 KERNEL [STABLE]
MP4 files that used to play were broken, even after clearing cache. The video player (MX Player or Gallery) would just hang.
I was able to bypass this by disabling H/W+ decoder in MX Player and enabling S/W decoder.

I have the same problem on slightly older CM10 version, so i believe it's the app problem (MX Player)

Bump. Has anyone found a player that worked under HW yet or we're all waiting still?
I'm currently using twa-priv's ROM with SGT7 (CM10) and no problems trying to play an .mp4 file. I just veried that it'll play them I don't know what video player it is.....I never installed one and just accessed it through Quickpic.
Have you tried VLC
Google nightly builds.

[Q] Hardware decoding capabilites and codec ?

Hello everyone,
I can't find any way to have a video decoded using H/W Decoding with any player, video, nor custom roms.
With official Roms, I used WMP to transcode and send videos to my MB526 via MTP mode, which resulted in wmv files. This way, MX Player was able to play videos using hardware decoding (how ever, as far as I remember, the quality was sloppy).
But of course, that solution does not work anymore with custom roms, as MTP, wma and wmv are gone.
Right now I send .avi or .mp4 files using ftp; but I can't figure out a way to make them play using hardware decoding. All I got are insults like "can't play using H/W Decoder" (S/W works just fine, as long as I simplify the work for the chip : lower quality and mpeg2; but even then I think that HW decoding would spare the battery)
I tried :
- Different ROMs : Quark's CM10 roms, and White Rabbit (CM7) roms (among others)
- Different Codecs : MP4 (h264), Mpeg2, aac audio, mp3 audio, etc.
- Different Resolutions and Qualities : 854x480, 320x240, 25fps, 15fps, etc.
- Different Transcoders : vlc, ffmpeg, ...
- Different Players : MX Player (with or without armv7 codec), VLC, stock
Even in software mode, I have to decrease quality of the video to (150Mb for 20 minutes in mpeg2) to be able to run videos smoothly.
I searched everywhere in the forum but couldn't find any answer (I saw people complaining they can't play 720p with HW decoding, but I can't even play anything with HW decoding).
Do anyone knows what I did wrong ? Or how I could get a workaround ?
Regards

[Q] MX player issue (H/W+, H/W or S/W)

Folks,
Having issues playing mkv files with the H/W or H/W+ decoder. I installed the latest purity ROM, and have been having issues playing the videos since. The files will only play in S/W decoder. I had a different ROM earlier(can't recall) and the same mkv and other video files would play in H/W and H/W+ decoder.
Could someone please explain if this is a ROM issue or do I need to do something else to fix this?
Thanks

HD Video Help-Question for JPSports 10.2 Build

So I am running JPSports' Unoffical Android 4.3 / CM10.2 JB ROM from the development page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2426942) - I am on Build 1 and am very happy, OC'd at 1.5, and very stable.
Only question is, I now have an issue playing 1080p HD videos from WMV fromat that used to play just fine on ICS 4.0.3 (stock).
I use MXPlayer, have the latest ARMv7 codec from right here on XDA, but I get choppy/half-speed playback of 1080 WMV's - 720's seem to play just fine.
Any ideas/suggestions? I have tried a couple other players but they may not have been 4.3 compatible because I had constant crash issues and removed them.
Thanks in advance.

h265 hardware decode

Hi
is the phone capable of hardware decoding h265 videos?
please try http://www.libde265.org/hevc-bitstreams/bbb-1920x1080-cfg06.mkv ( dowload it first)
with mxplayer in hw or hw+ mode ( not sw mode)
does it stutter ?
you can also try http://www.libde265.org/hevc-bitstreams/bbb-3840x2160-cfg02.mkv , but it is a 4k maybe too heavy for the phone
thanks
I'm unable to play the first file with either mx player or bsplayer.
HW mode black screen, HW+ extreme lag. SW similar (maybe 0.1x speed).
Thanks
It is Strange.. look at this http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2mETT1RlX38

We probably need to download that codec in the description and point MX player to use it.
The first video works in VLC - better than on my Core 2 Windows even - but still get slow down in many scenes.
H265 hardware support will be hit or miss for a while, and sadly may never catch on due to the patent holders starting licencing shenanigans. See the article in the link

Please ,
import this codec to mx player and try.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/mx-player-custom-codec-dts-support-t2156254
thanks
