No. It shouldn't fail. You're probably trying to flash the entire firmware package. THAT won't work. You need to flash the modem related files ONLY

There is no locked bootloader...only a secured one. Every L720 I've had to unlock never failed the MDC flash in Odin. Are you SURE you have the MDC modem and are you SURE you have an L720? Check the sticker in the back and in download mode it tells you the model.

Yes i look at about device is L720 with MF9 firmware..
Its correct.. Its no problems using odin 1.85 right? Or must specific version?

THAT might be why! Let's move into the present and try it on Odin 3.07 or 3.09 (I personally use 3.09 all the time because...well its the most recent one).

Try the zip by unknownforce.

I tried the unknown force mk2 modem only and didnt work, it says fail after flashing via odin. As result of the fail, it removed my recovery and when I reboot the phone it has no sound
You should have done some more research. MK2 modem on some MF9 ROMs causes sound loss. Upgrade to the latest Triforce and Odin the modem again. You might have to try several times to get it to stick.

You are on mf9 the boot loader is not locked. And I meant the mk2 modem zip not Odin file.

Urgent Please Need help regarding At&t galaxy s4

i have this galaxy s4 from at&t i have no idea who did this but if you see in the image , you will see different baseband and build version !!
now wifi is not turning on and no sound i don't know about other issue , but how to fix this please ??? should i install mdl firmware and will it fix this as firmware i.e build version is different from baseband and installing mdl stock firmware will fix everything ??
and please when you install firmware through odin , you put the file in PDA right ???
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
You're on mdl firmware. Flash that in Odin, PDA slot
by flashing mdl firmware everything will match i.e baseband is mdl right now , so just flash mdl stock firmware in odin by selecting in pda right ??

i tried flashing mdl stock by odin in pda and it failed , this is the message displaying please help

Ok.bud no worries. Having a different baseband than your build isn't an issue. However it looks like. Your on official mf3 which means your bootloader is locked which is why you can't Odin amdl. flash the mf3 baseband through Odin. Bc having a old baseband can stop your Wi-Fi from turning on. Or Odin the whole mf3 stock rom
The locked boot loader stops you from flashing back to previous builds but it won't stop you from odining the mf3 stock Rom. You have options. Don't worry though bc nothing is broke. It's not an emergency bud.
Worked mannnn thank-you !!! i flashed stock baseband of mf3 via odin , and then fixed everything phone is perfect

Stuck in Odin

I am running stock AT&T 4.2.2 MF3 rooted with Motochopper, I believe.
An OTA downloaded on my device today, NC1 I guess? I knew I couldn't install it because either it would fail after detecting root, or I would potentially brick.
I wanted to update to stock NB1 or NC1 (maintaining or re-establishing root afterward).
The MF3 update threads I have found seem outdated.
Please let me know what the safest way to flash the latest stock that is rootable.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, Sixftsix, I am in the same boat as you. MF3 rooted wanting to upgrade to NC1. Did it successfully work for you? The files say NB1 to NC1 not MF3 to NC1 so I was just wondering if it worked. Also what version of Safestrap did you use?
Thank you very much!

I haven't upgraded yet, I'm still confused on what is the proper/safest method.
I am not sure if we have to go from MF3 > MK2 > NB1 > NC1... or if we can go directly to NB1 with this: "NB1 STOCK -- Get to NB1 Stock from NB1 or earlier... I337UCUFNB1 4.4 Stock Odin Tar & System Dump", then use the NB1 to NC1 method.
Let me know if you attempt anything and the results, I will do the same. I did lot of reading with no clear answers.
If anyone can confirm the best method, I would appreciate your help!

Apparently you need to upgrade to MK2, root, then do MK2 to NB1, and then NB1 to NC1. Its a process. I think I'll just stick with 4.2.2 until a root method is available for KitKat then I'll just upgrade to KitKat instead of flashing because I always have bad luck when it comes to soft modding...
Good luck.

If you want NB1, you can flash straight to it with the ODIN package. If you want root, you can flash to either MK2 or NB1 but going to NB1 adds in the downgrade steps.

Thank you! One question. I use Linux so I wouldn't be using ODIN I would be flashing with Heimdall. Same thing right?

Slightly different. You'll have to extract the partitions to flash from the ODIN file since it doesn't work with ODIN packages directly. Alternatively, you could try JODIN3.

New firmware for SGHI337

I have an unlocked SGH - I337UCUAMDL running on 4.2.2. I tried updating it OTA but it failed. I am assuming it was because it is unlocked.
Is there an alternate version of this that I can download and flash through Odin?

If you have mdl why do you want to upgrade the firmware? You currently can use twrp and flash roms based on 4.4.2. If you upgrade with Odin or ota you'll lose that ability for ever.

In that case, look in the general forum for the nb1 Odin flashable tar file and flash that in Odin. You can then ota up from there.

1. Rootable is just that, you'll be able to root it using towelroot. The normal nb1 is not rootable. The nc1 firmware is rootable with towel root too. So you could flash the non-rootable, then ota to nc1 and root it
2. If you're sim unlocked flash with Odin will not lock it.
