I recently dropped something on my Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight and created a "hole" in the light guide layer :crying:. I have found a way to minimize this distraction and thought I would share it here. I have my Nook rooted and have AIReader installed. I noticed that if I use white text on a black background the "hole" in the light guide is much less distracting. It seems the bright spot from the "hole" appears much smaller when the light does not reflect off of a white background. With the Glowlight off the defect it not noticeable, so reading in normal light is fine and when I have the Glowlight on switching to the black background doesn't seem so strange because the room is dark anyway.
I suspect others have this all too common problem, so I hope this information helps someone.
Do you want to look into trying any of these products? I found them a while ago and I was thinking perhaps the uniformity tape could reduce the glare properly and finally be a fix to the glowlight issue. I looked into other light guiding films to replace the entire screen "protector" but it looks like it has to be specifically designed to distribute the light evenly.

Hello
I purchased G1 with broken display on eBay from other user, hoping I could fix it.
G1 works good, its rooted and running cyanogen rom. Digitizer works, display is readable but colors are upside down. For example in settings screen text is yellow, background is blue arrows are somewhat gold. App menu background is black text, blue, attached pictures should tell more, one is home screen and other one is flashlight app with half intensity.
I dissembled the phone, searching for any signs of damage or anything, everything seemed ok. I am not sure if I should buy new LCD screen or Flex Cable. Did anyone encountered similar problem?
I was wondering if it is common to have a little color bleed by an edge of the screen on the nook color. On a completely black screen, I have a little bit of a green color shadow to the left of the nook bottom. Is my nook defective?
I think I know what you're describing... I get a little bit of that on the bottom of my nook when it's showing a black screen. Someone else will probably chime in, but I assumed it was "normal".
Yep, a faint greenish glow just above the n button. Hadn't noticed till now. Only barely visible with a black bacground and a dark room.
K, mine is a little more noticeable but not a big problem. Looks like it seems to be a common trait for the nook. Thanks for easing my mind.
So I've noticed a very slight, but annoying issue on my Fire. When I'm reading with a black background and white text, I find the whites on the left side of the screen is bright white, then gradually fades to a duller white towards the right side. I flipped the screen to make sure I wasn't crazy, and then the whites were on the right side.
Is this a manufacturing defect, or an issue they all have? Granted, it's subtle, but still is starting to distract me when I'm reading at night and don't want the bright white background.
As an alternative, is there a way to adjust colors in the native reading app (besides the three preset)? I've sideloaded Aldiko, but the right sides of text cut off.
I broke my screen a few days ago and had it taken in to be replaced. A few hours after receiving it I noticed the LED was blinking, but in strange colors different than those I set in Light Flow. The normally white notification is now cyan, yellow is now green, purple is blue. Red however doesn't display at all, so it seems that the red portion of the RGB scale is not functioning. Does anybody know what during the screen repair process might be causing this to happen? I'm almost certain its not software related as prior to having it repaired the LED was working correctly. Thanks!
There's a kind of filter for the LED on the display, not all replacement parts come with it and it's pretty easy to overlook.

There does seem to be a blue hue around the notification light area when held in the light... So could it be that this filter was mistakenly left on the old screen, instead of transferred to the new part? Or is it something attached to the screen that can't be moved from one part to the other?
It wound up being a damaged LED light
Hello,
When I checked my phone today, I noticed that on left and right side of the screen, backlight seems to be different than on the rest. This causes screen to have different colour on the borders, like a little bit brighter. Is this a common problem? Anybody else had this issue? Any way to fix this, or should I replace the whole panel?
Mine has screen bleed as well. And every P8 that i saw had an amount of light bleed. So the chance to get a new screen with same screen bleed is high..
Mine has a little in the bottom left corner, unnoticable though unless I install the Backlight Bleed Test app & run it.
I was going to ask you to post a screenshot to see how much BLB there is on yours (would've posted mine too), but it doesn't show up in screenshots.
