Music ID Application

Hi people, thought I would share a new application I found using "Omarket", for those who don't know what it is, its like windows market place but most of the cabs are free ware and actually made by some guys round here. Its pretty cool. The music identification application is called "Midomi"
I was using MusicID but this linked in with Shazam and so eventually it expired and wanted cash- aye right. Anyway I found this this app and I`m very happy with it. Basically, "hum a tune" or let it listen (grab) a tune for 10 secs, it then tells you what it is but ALSO gives you a preview of the song just so you are sure. Really am quite impressed with this and want you guys to get the benefit too. You may have heard of gracenote - similar thing.
Have tested it using TV and radio songs so far 100%, however it will never get my weird 60's psych stuff or my bad singing voice :/

It's been out for around a year now, and yes, I agree it's a good bit better than Music ID.
Hi azahoth,
Thanks for the heads up.
very nice app...
tested it with about 10 songs, and some of them arent really famous
but midomi found out every song
really useful and good to delete discussions at the tv, when everybodys asking "what song is that?"

weird, i just tested with billie jean by michael jackson and it came out as weezer - spider.
does ambient noise affect the results significantly?

Did you sing or play it?
Ambient noise may interfere but bear in mind what it is actually doing; its cross referencing the results with like a million formants or "peaks" of millions of songs it can give strange results sometimes. Sing "yellow submarine" by the beatles, that's a good example of how it does work with general tracks. Not sure how it would stand in a club but better the microphone, better the results imo
I use Shazam Encore. Works pretty good.

check out my evo gaming video

i made a video at work the other day and i thought i would share.
youtube muted my audio so i uploaded it to my facebook page.
i have 3.29 stock sense rom and kernel.
its my first video editing experience and its definitely not polished in any way, but i still think its good enough to share here.
basically i run through some games that i like and added a bit of tunes. some of the games show the potential for android gaming on the evo, and some are just fun.
the music has a bit of many genres but "PARENTAL ADVISORY: CONTAINS EXPLICIT LYRICS.
let me know what ya think, if i get alot of feedback maybe ill make more stuff like this and spend more time on it. the sky really is the limit.
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=459830833236&comments&ref=mf
oh, meant to mention, the video that i made is smooth and the video that plays from the link gets choppy from time to time as if my evo is having a hard time with the games, it really just is the video coming from facebook that is choppy not the evo.

[Q] Couple Questions

Got teh A500 for my wife for mothers day and am trying to load up some stuff to personalize it for her before I give it to her, and plus gives me a chance to play with it.
Is there a way to personalize the backgrounds with pictures of our daughters?
Is there any trick to using the gps or do you have to have a wifi connection?
Any really handy apps I should download, for free?
I have an Ipod touch so android is very new to me but seem like once I figure out what I am doing, it should be a great product
Also whats up with the speaker when recording? When I talk while I hold it i can hear myself perfect, but for the person I am taping I can barely hear.
Thx in advance
For pictures of Kids just plug that baby into the computer when she isn't home load some pics to the device just open and past in photo folder or gallery.
As for good free apps well if she uses FB download that, Pandora radio so she can listen to some music. O and the angry bird collections my mom loves that and there free and the kindle app if she enjoys reading books

What music app do you guys use?

Just curious to see what everyone's running. I was using Google play Music until it started disorganizing my music a couple days ago in ABC order instead of actual tracklist order. So now I use nice player! What do you guys use?

I mainly use google play music because I have most of my music stored on the cloud, but for local I used to use PowerAmp which was awesome and sometimes I use Maple - it has some really cool features like pitch and speed adjustment.
but I think theres already a thread on this somewhere, in the apps section so you should probably look there
I hate how Google Play music makes it so hard just to get to the All Songs list. I think it requires at least three or four button presses, which I might be doing wrong but it's annoying to do if it really is that way.

I agree with this. I wish Google made the music app similar to those in TouchWiz or Sony xperias. Although I don't like the UI of Play Music, I'm kind of forced to use it due the N4's limited storage and Play's free song upload feature.

It's either been locked or disappeared forever, like this thread will be.
Shuttle+ is the best on my opinion, design, options and functions.
There is a thread made in themes and app section for all you guys.. It will help you all for knowing yhe various Music app people use..:good:
I use power amp and think it's totally worth the money. And yeah what other people said, there's a thread about this in the themes and apps forum where you can read about it there.
I personally went with power amp because the other media players annoyed me with the wrong album art work and would display the same artwork for all songs even though the artwork was completely irrelevant

Play Music. its simple and doesnt eat a lot of battery compare to 3rd part music apps -_-.
Play Music + Viper4android as my equalizer. Doesn't eat a lot of battery and it makes your 10 in ear earphones sound like Hi-end headphones.
I use Google Play Music now since I subscribed to All Access. But if I was using local files I'd be using PowerAmp.
