How to hide nav bar when typing - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I tried every exposed module that offer immersive mode, but the on-screen keys are persistent and don't go away when typing. Any idea how to hide them only when typing? I tried force immersive mode on Swype but our didn't work.

I desperately want a way to do this. I wonder if it is possible with Xposed or Tasker or something to that effect. To just hide it whenever the keyboard opens. I hate hitting home when I'm going for the space bar!
Edit: Ultimate Dynamic Navbar functions well enough, although I would still prefer an alternative!

Hide navigation bar?

Is there a launcher that can hide the navigation bar on the home screen?

No. Why do you only want to hide it while on the home screen?
Edit: If you just want to hide it period, you can use this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1243352&d=1344188251

You need a custom rom like PA in order to do that.
Or use lmt so which is pie, so you can now hide the navigation bar buttons in expanded mode.

You can also use gmd gesture control if you want to stay on stock but quickly hide/unhide navbar using gesture, even on custom roms its faster than having to hold power button and clicking expanded desktop

This is a great way to permanantly hide navbar but keep notification bar on stock but there is 2 problems i encountered with this method, 1st prob was the 3 dots would dissapear from chrome etc and on 4.2.2 i encoutered a flicker problem quite often but it sounds like the OP wanted to just hide the bar on home screen which im not sure why lol but if thats what he wants his best bet would be gmd gesture control or custom rom with expanded desktop mode

Agreed gmd gesture looks pretty cool.

All other app hide navigation bar and notification bar. I'm developing new root app that will allow to hide just navigation bar and replace it with auto hide status bar replacement :fingers-crossed:. No system files modification and no reboot required, but root is still needed.
Try it here and let me know what you think.

[TIP] Onscreen Navigation [/TIP][Root required]

So if you're using your Ouya with a mouse and keyboard the way I do, you have to rely a lot on keyboard shortcuts. But what if you can have onscreen navigation buttons to?
With an app called "full!screen" you can have a home and back button on the corners of your screen. Turn down the opacity to make the buttons transparent and you're left with what are essentially 'hotcorners.'
Home/Back are default. But you can customize which buttons you want displayed. You can also assign long-click and swipe action to the target area --though not sure how well swipe action would work for us.
This app also has it's own version of PIE control, if you like that interface. Works great.
Bonus: Works with Ouya launcher. (just checked it since my default is Nova Launcher)
Bonus 2: I had a previous tip to get notifications with a different app. You can set one of your actions in this app to show notifications. I just installed it. So not sure how well this feature will work.. and it's not exactly automatic notifications. It just allows you to pull up the notifications bar to view existing notificationss.
full!screen is free from the PlayStore.
cheers.

Any way to have a button on the keyboard that makes the navbar appear?

I like immersive mode and find it much easier to type when in it but the problem is swiping up to make the navbar appear often inputs text that persists when I reopen whichever app I'm in.
Just wondering if there's a way to have a button on the keyboard that either functions as a navbar within the keyboard, toggles the appearance of the status bar/navbar akin to a swipe down or up from the screen edge or simply minimises the keyboard.
Not very interested in using 3rd party keyboards. I like the look and feel of stock/AOSP keyboard so would prefer to keep it for the moment.
Thanks.
When does the keyboard go into full screen mode? I've never seen this happen and always retain nav button functionality. Couldn't you just slide from the top as usual?

I have tasker enable immersive mode for me in some apps. The top of the screen is always so far away. Something at the bottom would be nice.
Maybe do expanded desktop through the power button and back to normal after using the keyboard

You need to download Secure Settings. The toggle you need is 'Expand Desktop'. It's easy to just list a load of apps that will toggle this.
Lastly you need to add an exit task to disable immersive mode.

Anyway to force apps into full screen mode?

Do t really need a status bar if you have that second screen. Some apps have an option to hide the status bar. For those that don't, anyway to force it?

I think k there is a setting for it somewhere. Doesn't work with all apps but it's there.
Where? I've seen a setting to hide navigation keys, but no setting to hide status bar.

Status bar no. Nav keys i meant. Sorry. Think the app needs a full screen mode like games or have to wait for xposed to catch up.

Immersive Mode

Someone knows How we can enable immersive mode (hide the softkeys) on the Device?
Thanks in advance
Download gmd immersive on the place store. If you purchase it you can eliminate the color bar. As far as factory from samsung I don't think there's any way, but could be wrong

I would like to know as well. Maybe a way to hide in certain apps and have it out in other apps?

You can use ADB to hide the nav bar and notification bar as well.
As for using on certain apps, it's a little hard work, but it can be done.
