The S5 (like all Samsungs) have really low volume output. It just is not that great of quality. Anyone have any idea or workaround on how to actually boost the volume output from the headphone jack?
Haven't noticed that, seems annoying. Did you try the volume booster apps at Google play?

The volume is terribly low. Is there a way to access the system settings and increase the volume levels.

go to settings>audio
Or press UP on the volume button?
(Hint, it's on the right hand side between the L & R shoulder buttons)
Make sure you press the right way or you'll make the volume incredibly low!
Thaks guys but I know how to manually turn the volume up. My fone is preser with a limit to as high to volume can go. Im trying to bypass that limit.

Take a cover meant for a bigger battery and put an amp in there picking up the signals for your speakers and sending them amplified to your speaker. If you need a starting direction, look for cmoy amps.
Make sure the you have the media volume up to. Other then that idk what to tell you. I think the play is the loadest phone I've had. If its a ringtone that you think is quiet. I can take your ringtone and make it much loader using audacity.
I dont think the Play is that loud either, the quality of the sound is good, due to the stereo speakers.. But I would also like a way to increase the limit of the maximum volume if there is a way

Yeah, it is a phone, but Sony you think it would be cool if it could be used as a stereo too?
Besides, my previous phone, Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, was much louder than the Play. The Play just isnt as loud as you think

It's called headphones
Heck my old env was louder. I the alarm doesn't wake me up and i never hear txt or calls. I work in a loud place and all mh other phones i could hear 70% of the time. Great quality low sound

The maximum volume level is set for a reason.
Any louder & the speakers would distort.
I think in call loudspeaker volume could be much higher.

Do I just have a bunk device or does the speaker on the back just suck a large amount?
Maybe bunk? Mine's fine. It's louder than my old S2 and no distortions or anything.

Same as above, speaker works great, better then my S3 for sure.
Check out Fauxs kernel and his app Faux sound if you want to improve it even more.

First, i apprecuate the responses. I downloaded some music to my phone with different bitrates abd they all sounded good. Its only YouTube videos audio that is constantly distorted. Anyone know what that's all about?

Have googled and searched here and while I can find some volume tweaks, I have found nothing that works with the sprint S4. My hearing sucks and even with hearing aids it is sometimes a stretch.
Does anyone know of any program or mod that will actually work on the rear speaker? Viper for Android appears to only work on headphones or audio output?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Nexus 4's loud speaker volume isn't so high compared to other phones, as you guys already know. I know that there are apps that can increase the volume. But how far can i push it? I don't want to ruin my speaker. And yes, there is a mod that increases the volume of the nexus 4 , but unfortunately it doesn't work on xylon rom, which i'm using.
Thanks

I don't see any reason to push the speaker. The quality of the sound isn't normally great. By increasing the volume, quality will decrease even further.
Try increasing the volume with about 10%. That shouldn't damage anything.
I don't care about sound quality really, i just want to hear the song lol. And i dont know if 10% makes it better.

Hi,
I don't think, at least no issue for now, the mod is tweaked for volume boost but at a secure level.
I use it and I have not encounter any issues.
