Aux problem - Galaxy Note II General

hello guys,
THE PROBLEM I AM FACING IS WHEN I CONNECT MY PHONE THROUGH AUX CABLE IN MY CAR THE SOUND IS VERY POOR (DISTORTED/CRACKING).
THINGS ALREADY TRIED-
1. USED DIFFERENT AUX CABLES.
2. STEREO OF CAR IS TOTALLY FINE AND PLAYING SOUND FROM OTHER FONES FLAWLESSLY.
3. NEVER HAD SUCH PROBLEM WITH HEADPHONES.
4. CLEANED AUDIO JACK SEVERAL TIMES.
INTERESTING THING IS THAT I HAVE A GALAXY S3 ALSO AND THE SAME PROBLEM IS WITH THAT BRAND NEW SET.
I HOPE YOU WILL REVERT BACK WITH THE MOST APPROPRIATE SOLUTION.

Writing in caps wont help ya

ohhh really...thanks for your kind advice and such a great help...DB..

Same thing happens to my phone now, only when I plug the earphones in a certain way it works, but the lightest movement screws up everything. It's very annoying.
I've done a bunch of cleaning, even went to a tech guy who finally stated me the obvious: It's broken.
I've been using bluetooth earphones so I forgot about it. I think your best choice is to buy an "earphone plug flex", the one of the GN2 and get it replaced.

Thanx Ronaldx,
ya man i have been also told to get the jack replaced but i am amazed that this problem is from the very first day in the phone but i never bothered coz i use headphones most of the time.
Well right now i think i just have to get it replaced, no other choice. This is really annoying on part of samsung, thinking to change the brand.

I might have a fix! I experienced this crackling noise with the headphone jack too. Then found a thread where people were knocking their phones against their knees - and apparently solving the problem.
For me it was just as good to remove the battery cover and applying a bit of pressure front to back over the headphone connector.
I have to repeat this every couple of months but that is it. You can do it while the unit is on and the music is playing, to hear the effect. Hope this helps you too.

[Q] 3.5mm headphone jack

Posting in general since I had no responses in the question sub forum. Recently my 3.5 mm jack has in my opinion died. No matter what headphone, aux cord or newly flashed rom I try it just has extremely distorted and a staticy sound. Super sad because I use my phone for music all the time. Is there any way to replace this part? Is there something I'm missing or haven't tried? Thanks!
Have you tried cleaning the jack out? Compressed air, cotton swab with alcohol, or something?
No I have not but I will definitely try, thanks for the suggestion.

Searching at ebay for "i9000 replacement jack", looks like it's a hardware piece bigger and more complex than one could expect for a replacement, if it's really a match with the i9000 hardware.
Maybe using only a bluetooth phone is an option?
I tried cleaning it, but it's a no go. I'll try to search for a replacement piece on eBay or something. I've looked at Bluetooth aux solutions but they're like at least 50 dollars. Seems expensive for just being a Bluetooth device with an aux cable connected to it.
Found this from my searching, http://www.repairsuniverse.com/samsung-vibrant-t959-headphone-jack-ear-speaker-replacement.html I'll update this whenever I get the part and install it. Maybe I'll take pictures and hopefully this thread can help someone else even though it doesn't seem like anyone else is having my problem.

Help fixing my headphone Jack?

Hey guys I really need some help here, I recently spilled a drink on my phone and after cleaning it off (it was almost all on the screen) the phone worked fine, until today that is. Everything on the phone works well except for the headphone Jack. I'm hoping its a software issue, I've wiped the cache and loaded a backup from before this started to no avail. I can't re-flash my rom yet because I'm not home. Im almost sure its just my phone and not the earphones, I used the earphones on my moms iPhone and it worked fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this? I'm running cyanogen mod nightly #20 (I realize there Is a new one out but I haven't downloaded it yet) I'm afraid to do what I hear most people did and take the phone apart. Is there anything that could remove any gunk from the Jack? I use my phone for music constantly and really want to fix this ASAP any help or advice is appreciated, thanks,
Zack

If this helps anybody, I installed an app called toggleheadset2. This works as a temporary fix for now, however i still really want a permanent fix

Spraying stuff like electrical contact cleaner into a smartphone headset jack is ill advised. You could try it, it might work without disassembly but it is risky.
If you have small q-tips you might try getting the end damp with isopropyl alcohol, hold the phone upside down and gently insert and remove a few times. Battery out of course, let it dry when you think it's clean. That's what I'd do probably. Little risk of damage, controlled amount of liquid entering the device and oriented in a drainage encouraging position.
Good luck and post your results and the method used!

I feel like the atrix headphone jack attracts junk. No other device with a headphone jack has had this much trouble preventing stuff from getting in the jack. Perhaps it's because the phone is in my pocket most of the time with lint etc.
BTW I think alcohol is the best solution. TAKE OUT BATTERY FIRST
Thanks for all the great replies guys, however I don't have any idea how I fixed it. I put the headphones in to no avail. Downloaded that app. Toggled a few times and when I uninstalled the Jack worked again.

Speakers cracking

I've had my nexus for about a month now.
The speakers were fine until today, the just started a cracking sound on certain sounds.
It's really annoying and it only happens when the volume is higher then 50%.
With headphones the sound is just normal.
Is there something I can do about it? I'm not really a fan of sending my nexus back to Asus.
I had my left speaker crackling from day one. I opened the back cover and took off the net that covered the speaker. That solved my problem. You may also try that.

Took the backcover of and discovered it was my right speaker, removing the net had no effect.
Are the speakers sold apart? And are they hard to replace?
Go back to stock using Wug's toolkit. My sound was broken and not playing, I thought it was a hardware problem but I flashed back to stock. I did that and It worked. It wouldn't hurt to try it. Make sure you backup your apps using "My Backup" or "Titanium backup (root)"

They are ridiculously easy to replace. There's an ifixit guide. Haven't seen anyone selling any though.

I had the same problem and researched it. I even unrooted and went back to stock thinking it may have been a software problem. But to no avail. It turns out to have been a blown speaker. I couldn't locate a replacement for it. Luckily I purchased it a Staples and was able to exchange it.

Same here right speaker. I figured out that mine has a tendency to "pop" out or something and if I just push it back in I hear a click and no more crackling.
I finally worked out a solution using tape under the mesh to keep the speaker from popping out like this again and no more crackling so far.

Tried that, no effect.
I guess the only thing I can do is to sent it back to Asus.
Very poor, cause it has a perfect screen without any flaws.
I used the use the app – Volume+ which kicked out awful crackle/hiss.
Deleted now, no problem.

My Nexus was crackling and the headphone volume was really low and distant while running AOKP on it. Back to stock now and unrooted and sound is great.
Maybe a problem with the binaries? I'm gonna reroot tonight and do some testing with sound.

Well if it really is perfect otherwise it might be worth it to just tape something over the broken speaker to muffle it or disconnect that speaker it until someone starts selling the speaker assembly.
Temporarily having mono sound won't be the worst thing in the world. Do you really need stereo audio? Especially when the two speakers are right next to each other on the same side lol?
That's personally what I would do in your shoes. Someone will eventually start selling N7 parts on ebay or wherever. Heh I may have to if my speaker blows out again and I can't just "pop" it back in like last time.

I can wait it out, but I can also sent it back tot Asus while it's still under warrenty.
Sending my nexus back looks like a safer choice.

my speakers blew out the other day. not sure if its one or both but its unbearable to listen to. i saw the guide on ifixit. seemed easy enough so next i did a quick search and found a place they sell them. its called powerbookmedic they go outta stock real quick when they get them in so sign up for there auto email restock notification thing and as soon as they send u a email run to a comp with ur debit card. i got mine coming in a day. i plan on putting these new ones in and then getting some external speakers to use just to save from having to do this again.

Nexus 4 Headphone Jack Lint

I've been getting a lot of pocket lint in my Nexus 4 headphone jack. Its kinda funny, really. I currently have some stuck in there and my headphones still work so I'm wondering if anyone else has this happening to them.
Not a big deal, I'll just shut my phone off when I get home and clean it out with a toothpick or something.
Let me know if you have a simple solution to it or if you find that it happens to you as well.

It always happens with earphone jacks, sort of normal.

There are "solutions" or "workarounds"
I have tons of lint not in the earphone jack, but the ear earpiece!

I know all phones get it but on all of my other phones (iPhones and HTC One X) I would get not get noticeable amounts. This phone's jack has been filling up like crazy.
And yeah, my earpiece does too.

Z5 premium Audio jack failed

I read this somewhere and yesterday my audio jack failed for my Z5 premium. Docomo japan was nice enough to offer me a loan device... it takes up to 2 weeks to fix (hopefully faster as I miss my camera and speed.. my old GS4 feels so slow right now)..

Mine has also broken a month ago. But I did not send it to the Sony repair service yet. I don't want they screw up my phone just because of the jack

Did yours connect and disconnect randomly when plugging in your earphones? Mine did the same if so. Docomo repaired free of charge. The hardware has been disappointing sometimes with this phone. Developing a love/hate relationship with it.

I love the camera... as my last phone was lumia 1020 this is a good replacement... the audio jack is not working at all when I plug in the earphone jack the audio is playing from the device speaker... I am missing it as it's Sakura season and my phone is under repair... there was a sheep running around on my screen after Docomo service staff did a factory reset on my device... I also hope the stamina battery app will reinstate as after the MM 6.0 update stamina app just vanished...

Yeah, I like the camera, just wish I could focus on close up images easily without having to use the zoom.
Sounds a little different to the problem I had. But there does seem to be a weakness with the headphone jack.

I suspect the audio jack is not as secured as it should be... mine was moving... and yes the closeup focus is screwed up... some of my Sakura pic looks great but when zoom in all the center flowers are out of focus... I did not have this issue with my lumia 1020...

Yeah, had to do that in the shop. Wasn't that bad really, all my important stuff was backed up to google. And other stuff was on my sd card. Only really annoying thing was that the f/w was downgraded back to 5.1 when I got it back so had to upgrade it again.
Sent from my SO-03H using Tapatalk
Im still on 5.1 so that is not a point haha
Mine headphone jack stopped working as well & not keen on phone being wiped and have to set everything up from scratch. Helium is a great app to backup your apps & data though as an alternative to Titanium Backup that requires root.
Searching google shows that the headphone jack failing is a common problem with Sony phones. Seem to be a poor connection/soldering as stopped working whilst I was walking and phone was in my pocket.
Not a big deal though as I have bluetooth headphones I can use for now. Will send it off for repair shortly.
It's not a good thing to be happening to your 'Premium' phone brand though. I thought I was getting the best. However....

I broke my headphone jack, now it's moving and it connects and disconnects.
I opened the phone and it moved out from its place despite the plastic piece that holds it.
The flat is now damaged (reconnected, doesn't work) and the jack itself doesn't stay in place, looks like it's locked only by the sticker.
I ordered one new on Ebay, waiting for the repair job.
There is defintly a problem with the headphone jack on this phone, mine like others have reported "moved" slightly... I bought a new jack off eBay and replaced it myself after sony told me that they won't fix an international phone (in Canada).
Mine has failed as well. Sound is intermittent. It's under warranty from the carrier I bought it from so they have it in their repair shop. Very annoying, but at least I was able to get a loaner phone in the meantime.
I put the new jack socket in the phone but it's still moving and disconnecting.
Looks like the spoiled part is in the frame, but swapping the entire phone on a new frame is a nightmare...
I'm very disappointed because I'm a heavy FM radio user and I can't use bluetooth headphones.
I'm thinking about selling it with a discount and buy a new one (I don't like new Xperia XZ and it doesn't have FM radio and microSD slot on Dual version))
Hi,
So it looks like it's possible to repair this ourself either form hardware or software ?
In the meantime, I'm using SoudnAbout to do a manual switch and it's working fine. It's now just not automatic.
Hi,
I have the same problem here. The jack has stopped working for no reason. I think it's a Hardware Problem rather than a Software problem. I performed a Software repair via Pc Companion with no results. The only solution that i found is using SoundAbout application too. I think that the problem is that the phone can't DETECT headphones, earphones, etc. The jack is working, but there is no detection.
I really do not want to send my Z5P to be opened for a jack issue ....

idem but work perfectly with my sony mdr-nc31e helmet
Mine failed as well, but it seems only the detection part of the hardware failed, I installed an app called "Soundabout" from Play store and forced media through the headphone socket and it works fine. This workaround should work for some.
