Hi all, I got my new Gear 2 Neo connected with my Note 8.0 GT1100 (WiFi). I am still running android 4.2.2 (stock).
I did the following to make it work:
1) got latest Gear Manager from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2573200; downloaded 2 apk and placed them on my external memory card
a) got Gear manager: v2.0.14040401
b) and GearManagerStub.apk (placed also on external memory card, not into systems/app as recommended!)
2) Installed both apps
3) Turned on Bluetooth and ran Gear Manager
4) That gave a few error messages but I nevertheless succeeded in connecting to my new Gear Neo 2
Certainly not everything is working (yet)...
What is and is not working (still WIP; just had 30min to test a few things):
Hoem screen styler works
2) Samsung Apps: fails to find any Gear 2 apps
3) My apps
a) emails does not seem to work (again, might tale me some time)
b) Music Player is working (and I can push songs onto my watch); did not try controlling my Note 8 music player yet (PowerAmp)
c) Heart Rate Monitor: working
d) Stop watch + timer working
e) did not try media controller, but I can start the app on my phone
f) Gallery: have not figured out yet how to push picts from my tablet to the watch
h) Notifications: does not seem to work, but then again, I had little time to figure it out...
i) S Voice: detto, could not download it to my Note
j) Pedometer: works
k) Voice Memo: works
l) schedule works: unfortunately I lose all appointments when I disconnect from teh watch...would be really nice if I could store it offline (like contacts, which I have not tried yet)
m) could not get Weather to work in teh short time I tested it
Well, I hope Samsung will soon upgrade the Note 8.0 to KK with a fully working Gear Manager....at leastI got something to play with until then (and can use it as a (cool) watch)....
Good luck guys and let me/us know if you got other apps to work/download.

Update:
I upgraded my Note 8 (N5110; wifi; US) to Android 4.4.1, then I fully hard reset my device. Not much changed and I still do not have access to Gear apps in the Samsung app store, despite Samsung claiming I should. See link: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/wea...SM-R3810ZAAXAR
Here is the text from that Samsung website:
"Samsung Gear™ 2 and Gear 2 Neo are currently compatible with devices that meet the following criteria:
Android™ version 4.3, Jelly Bean or higher
WVGA or higher screen resolution
1.5GB or higher memory"
Note 8 with android 4.4.2 meets all criteria, but still.....
My only 2 options are now:
1) Wait until hopefully Samsung will have mercy and enable Note 8
2) root and change the build ID

Hi, I hope I am at the right place to ask about this device.
I found a good deal on this 7" board, and saw that it shipped with the "new" Android v 2.3
However, I can't access the Android Market with it (is that obvious???). I think that without access to the largest app marketplace, I could as well return the thing. (the "replacement" market on it features zero of the apps I want/need)
I could go with a more expensive Samsung tablet where everything probably works out of the box, but I bought this for my kids to play with, so I felt I had no need for all that 3G/GPS/advanced stuff
Could you please advise me on how to obtain market access on this device, if at all possible? Most of the info I've found is on other/related tablets, with older versions of Android.
Is it possible to:
- install a compatible custom ROM (something that works on a tablet like Advent Amico, but it has newer hardware?)
- root the device and then do some magic with it?
- download some app that magically installs market?
- grab the apk's directly from market and then install them (aka "sideloading"?)
I'd really appreciate help on this!
I did a little research on "point of view pro tab 2" thru Google and came up empty (except for deal offerings).
I, personally, would avoid this tablet. On google I didn't find a single forum/board about this tablet, so atm the developing community is nonexistant, so you're getting a slim chance to ROOT your tablet and get the "Google Experience" TM --> Market, GMail, GTalk, Maps,...
If you really want a decent 7" Tablet then get an Archos A70 or its clone Prestigio PMP7070.
Archos also has 10" Tablets A101 (Prestigio PMP7100C), but Advent Vega/ViewSonic 10S/POV mobii are all Tegra 2 based (dual-core with NVIDIA technology (think GeForce GPUs)).
There are alot of similar models and brands in the tablet world and some are ROOT-able and some are not and not a single of these "cheap" tablets has the Google Experience, because that costs extra money for the manufactuers.
I would strongly recommend to check if the device is ROOT-able before you purchase it, this basically applies to any device nowadays: Routers, Phones, media players, Consoles,...
Update about the apks from the Market:
I installed the Market apk on my tablet and it didn't show some apps/games in the market. So I've installed them thru my SGS (phone) and then made a backup (Titanium Backup, Astro Filemanager, there are lots of backup apps on the market) and then transfered the apks from my phone to my PC and then from my PC to my tablet and normally installed them thru a filemanager (like Astro).
You just need to enable "Unknown sources" under Settings --> Applications and you're all done!
yani2000, thanks so much for your help.
I was hoping that the tablet was common HW, just with a obscure branding!
Btw, here's some info on the board. I was looking at the Archos, but it had less RAM and not 2.3, so I thought the POV was a better out of the box (guess I was wrong...)
Operating system Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Processor Telechips 8803 Cortex A8 - 1.0 GHz
System memory 512 MB DDR2
Storage memory 4GB NAND Flash
Display LCD 7" 800 x 480
Touchscreen Capacitive 2-point multi touch
WiFi 802.11 b/g
Hi there.
The screen res on that screen is very low even for a seven inch tab, you should be looking at 1024x600 as a min. 800x480 is the same as my 4 inch phone. Also forget gingerbread, honeycomb is what you want for a tab. Try to find a POV Mobii 10 inch. Vegacomb will install on that and its only around 250 euros.
PEACE.

hi there!
i'm thinking of buying a presticio 7070c tablet, but i'm unsure if it's possible to root it, or to install any custom rom, or at least change the launcher app. that prestigio's launcher is terrible!
also i'm wondering if it's possible to install regular android market, and then, afterwards to download and install apps from it?
any help is appreciated!

Hi!
You're actually on wrong XDA forum.
To get all the nice treats visit this XDA's sub-forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=875
Gen8 (Generation 8) are the forums for you!
Generation 9 is a good 8"/10" tablet forum with HoneyComb out-of-the-box.
To get more info about ROOT click here.
And here is a guide on how to ROOT.
If you have any questions feel free to ask in that forum.
And for the butt-ugly launcher (I would be ashamed to develop such a launcher), I think you can always install a custom laucher from the market like: GO Launcher EX, LauncherPro, ADW Launcher (I just pointed out few of the most commonly used launchers).
And for the apps+market thing... when you ROOT your tablet you can copy market, maps, contacts, gmail, talk, youtube,... and some other google framework and services related apks to your system/app folder with root explorer and after reboot you'll get the google experience.
Or you can install a custom ROM and let an experienced developer handle all the details.
Well tbh, from my research its based on the ly-f tablet. i'll post a thread when i figure out more.
Also, the tablet comes pre-rooted. just install superuser.apk and rock n roll.
[HowTo] Install Android Market on Point of View ProTab 2
I had the same problem with the Point of View Mobii 7" Tablet ProTab 2 (TAB-7C-4GW-1). After a couple of hours, I found a solution. Here is what I did:
1. Update the firmware/ROM to version 2. Download from Point of View homepage (I can't provide the URL due to forum limitations , but Google "TAB-7C-4GW-1 firmware" and it should be the first hit). NOTE that following the instructions will also perform a factory reset and remove all data. (The reset in the last step means putting a needle in the tiny hole on the back)
2. Configure Wi-Fi and connect.
3. Open the YouTube app and go to My channel. This will require you to log in, so select to add account and provide your Google credentials. (Adding the Google account in the device Settings didn't work for me, at least not under firmware 1)
4. Put LauncherPro and Home Switcher on an SD card, for example by backup up some other device with MyBackup (or maybe transfer to the tab via USB?). Open ES File Explorer and install LauncherPro. Then install Home Switcher, launch Home Switcher and select to launch LauncherPro. Now on the home screen of LauncherPro there will be a Market icon. Tap it, accept the terms - and your're in!
For me this worked on two separate devices with different Google accounts.
i picked up a POV mobii tegra 2 10.1 from my local computer shop for £132. it comes with froyo 2.2 and i installed youtube app and few games on it. im shocked how good the graphics are on games like shadowrun, riptide and jelly defence.
iv did try putting viewcomb 3.2 on the device but there were a lot of bugs, games like shadowrun did not work on it then either. vegacomb doesnt work, it just ends up at the vegacomb boot video animation and goes nowhere. so i went back to stock firmware. shame really since viewcomb had very good scrolling speed but it bricked itself with a usb boot loader message.
still trying to fina a way to get the proper market working with stock firmware.

Did you try any of the custom ROMs that are based on v2.2?
Like Corvus5, Modaco ROM or a Preformance Pack that goes on top of stock firmware.
no i not tired those, although with stock firmware 2.2 everything seems to work fine for me, i dont ge thte scroll speed that honeycomb offers but the 2.2 is more stable.
however i have an issue with motion sensor games where they dont register the tilting on 2.2 firmware but work fine on honeycomb.
odd.

the performance pack is very old, its for v1.08 rom, im using stock 1.10 rom.
corvus5 and modaco rom dont have a nvflash installer so the install method seems complex so i didnt bother with those roms.
me hoping VegaICS improves and works out well, that i would like to be using on this tablet. or who know, windows 8 in the future?

Feel free to move this thread, but I thought I should ask somewhere people know about hardware.
I own a local store which has about 35 stands for each product, and me and my team want to run slideshows (picture+video) in each one.
My guess is that I should use tablets.
Why tablets?
a) Slideshows needs a software to run them. Displays are just displays.
b) KODI (XBMC) app is a good option, as each Kodi would also run a Samba server and I could send the media I need to play to each one from one computer.
c) I looked for digital photo frames, but they don't support any kind of networking, and the few ones I've found are as expensive as tablets.
My questions are,
1) Is it fine if they are connected to AC power all day 24/7? Our local is opened 24hs. Should I take off their batteries? I don't know if tablets are prepared for that purpose.
2) Is there a difference between generic tablets and Samsung Galaxy Tabs 3? In fact, I really don't need high-end tablets, I just need to run the slideshows. But my only fear is the device-life.
When its plugged in it runs off ac power an keeps the battery's charged so as long as there is power you are good it won't hurt it. I can make a app that's a slide show for them if you want just install the app an open it an itll play. The send the videos an slide show pics an I'll work on when I can. 12 hour shifts this schedule

I appreciate your help.
I actually found out a solution to this. Not the best but fine.
I've installed Kodi and configured everything to block everything but the slideshow.
I needed to rooted them. Installed Xposed framework, and a Xposed addon to blocked hardware keys (leaving a combination to escape).
Installed Touch Blocker, to disable touch.
Installed Samba Filesharing app (running on default samba port thanks to root)
Configure Kodi to autostart Slideshow when it opens, and made a custom service-addon to auto refresh slideshow when new media is detected after 2 minutes, skipping if files are still transferring.
That took a lot more time to replicate in all 35 tablets because there is no cmw or teamwin recovery for Galaxy Tab 4 8'', or at least I haven't found, so Titanium Backup and Helium for some other stuff
yo guys
i just connected a magnificent Logitech K810 to my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 AISP Marshmallow 6.0 rom and I installed and bought External keyboard Pro from the Google Play Store.
Now, I'm only somewhat clever so here I am asking, how can I be as Close as efficient as a desktop user? if i also connect a Bluetooth nouse and a chromecast to whatever monitor.
I don't game. I do this for fun, currently a gimmik but you might have some ideas i haven't concidered.
I have Xposed framework installed.
Is it possible to have the enter key send an sms in the native Messaging sms app that's included to send a message after you hit enter instead of a new row, I'd rather have shift+enter go to new row.
So that's an Intel processor inside, I wonder if there are limitations on available apps from the store, or if I will be able to continue using all my preferred apps from my previous Tab.
That would be a reason to buy it or not!
This
Very few limitations. I just scrolled through "my library" on the play store and found only the following without an "install" button (implying incompatibility):
- Starbucks (I think more because of screen issues than processor -- which doesn't really matter for Madrid in any case!)
- MyScript NEBO
- Fast Finder
- Quick Settings for Android
- Do It Later
- MS Office Mobile (a screen-size issue, because Word, Excel, & Powerpoint apps work OK)
- Voice Search
- Adobe Flash Player 11
I can use NEBO.
Getting it set up is reasonably easy.
On my phone I installed it BUT did not activate it because it asked me to write on the screen – I have no stylus for it to recognize.
I then extracted the apk file with one of the free apk extractors
I then copied the apk over to the Yoga book and ran it (make sure you have developer mode set up).
When you run it for the first time a box will pop up asking you to write on the screen with your stylus. With our Yoga Books we have to switch over to “stylus” mode to do that then scribble on the pad. That’s it …. Done and good to go.
I had to do this each time a new update happened. Still doing it actually.
Hope that helps.
Thanks, guys, I've bought it and seems to run every app I need!!
I am unable to run "sandblast protect" on the Yoga Book I recently purchased. It's running the latest 7.1.1 software. It goes through the install process and then I get the dreaded "Protect has stopped" error when I attempt to launch it. Can someone try to install and run this app and let me know if works for them?
My IT department requires sandblast mobile to be running on any android devices that access our corporate email so this is an important app for me... Thanks.
anyone got it like me? any custom rom available or community for tweaks

The camera was the main reason to contribute. What should I say, the quality ist not really good...
... videos are only in portrait mode & the aspect ratio looks not o.k.
I hope we will get an update soon. They promise it. If I do a power off my battery is emty. Anyone the same problem?

I switched off mine, charged it up to 100%, put it away from the charger untouched for 1 day, restart the watch and had 100% battery.

I don't have any charge issues. Just limited functionality. And I haven't had any luck transferring files via Bluetooth. I can link the watch to my Samsung S8 phone, share a file via Bluetooth from the phone, but the transfer always fails. I don't know if it's me, the phone or the watch.

Did you accept the file transfer at the watch? You have to pull down the notification area and have to accept the file transfer.

It won't run on my Samsung Galaxy S8 either.
I hope someone figures out how to install the Google Play Store app on the watch. Aptoide is difficult to use for me.
Also, I noticed that when installing an app, the Install and Cancel buttons are almost not visible at the bottom of the screen. Is there a way to scroll/drag the screen?
Many of the icons are too small for my fingers. Is there a small stylus available anywhere that works with the watch? I installed Chrome so a stylus would help with using that as well.

There are new Versions of the Apps, for watch and Phone. Take a look at
my Postst #2, give them a try. For me it's working now.
Hello Backers,
The first software update is now available and it focuses on the data transfer between the watch and your smartphone app. For those that were having issues with the app and data transfer we’ve updated the software to allow for a better experience for transferring photos from the watch to your phone.
Cloud update services are not available at this time but please follow these simple instructions to update your watch:
1. Enable Bluetooth on smartwatch & phone.
2. Connect them with eachother.
3. Enable the installation from unknown source on your watch. (settings > security > unknown source)
4. Download http://arrowsmartwatch.ml/ on your computer.
5. Once the APK is on your computer, share it via Bluetooth to your Arrow Smartwatch. (if you don’t know, just google how to share files with Bluetooth, it’s very easy)
6. Once you’ve pressed the sharing button, you’ll have to accept the file on your watch.
(Swipe down from the top of your Arrow screen, to open the notification bar. Now press on the Bluetooth notification and hit the accept button.)
7. Now go to the file manager and search the Bluetooth folder.
8. The APK is in that folder. It’s labelled Arrow2
#9 is for ANDROID users only and this is your new Arrow Smartphone App. Please download from the following link.
9. Download this on your Android phone http://arrowsmartphone.ml/
This watch update was tested by a few beta testers within the backer community with good results. It should allow many of you that were having trouble to start transferring photos and videos from the watch to your phone. The next planned update will focuses on connectivity, apps and notifications.
As for the remaining Arrow inventory we continue to wait for Chinese customs to give us an answer on the status of our units. They said Chinese New Year would create a delay of up to a month or two so we will post an additional update soon outlining the details of this extremely frustrating and prolonged ordeal. Our goal remains to ship all remaining units to backers as soon as this custom issue is cleared.
Inquiries about the above can be sent to [email protected] as this is our primary contact method.

Thanks! Is this a new version of the OS? Or a customized version?
Hii! Not sure if people are still using the watch.. I took it out last week and again remembered why I packed it back. The battery drain is just insane!
Was anyone able to get a different OS version installed on the watch,,? Is it even possible? What are this risks?
What are my options to experiment?
