i have check on terminal emulator n it show the value that i have swap but i want to just want to know why i have a battery drain after swap it?

If I go to terminal and type swap I get swapiness: 28 but in Swap the app I have it set to 60 and to use the swap partition that I created... but I have serious doubts as to weather or not it's using that. Everyone talks about how quick their roms are but every one I've tried is slow as heck. The phone will vibrate 4 times before the ring sounds and three times before I see who's calling..
if your using a Hero rom its better to have your ringtones on the phone and not on the SD card or else there is significant lag on them. I normally put my ringtones and notiffications on the Rom 1st then resign them.
as far as knowing if your swap is working I usually check with swapper app found in the market.
hope this helps
Busybox allows dd to create a large file on sdcard.
It allows mkswap to create swap space on the file.
(at this point I'm super excited)
But when I try swapon busybox fails with function not implemented.
Any tips on getting this to work? Someone must have tried before. Virtual memory on the sdcard might have potential, or at least provide hours of fun with custom sysctl settings.
what are you trying to run on the dx that requires so much memory you need swap?

Maybe he isn't trying to run a massive program, but add a windows like effect, prefetch, to speed up the phone?
For what I have read and heard, Android is relatively good at memory management, so it may not be a good idea to do that.
I think you can do some interesting things. If you have swap, you can perhaps encourage the kernel to swap out some rarely used processes like Xfinity, etc. (or at least some portions of it. Isn't it annoying how Xfinity always sticks around). Then you can tell the kernel to use more of the RAM for cache, thus making the phone faster. I know android already does a good job in managing memory and killing of less used processes but I think with swap we'd have a lot more flexibility.
Been doing some work with busybox and sysctl - you can read about it here: http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-roms/16331-liberty-1-0-syssctl-config-4.html (I'm Marius on that forum).
Ok i am new to Android i just traded my iPhone 3G for a HD2. I spent around 3 or 4 hours trying to get it running the way i like. After many errors i am on NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V2.9_NAND_(Android-2.3.5) and i am very happy. So now i need some help and yes i did look around before i am asking this. I read on a forum that i could install my apps onto my memory card and not into the phone is this true for the OS i am running now. And also i wanted to know if there is any apps i may need to make my phone run better even some cool apps i make need just to be happy/
hi razielleonhart, I believe you're referring the to the ext-sd function. To do that you'll have to repartition your SD card. You can do that in CMR (I believe you are booting form NAND?). Normally just choose a ext partition size and set the SWAP memory to 0 (I'm not sure what the SWAP is for, but I think it's to compensate your RAM if your RAM runs out of space, but that's unlikely on the HD2). When you boot back into Android you will notice that your "internal" memory has increased. Not all ROMs support this, and you'll have to check the thread on the particular ROM to see if the developer has cooked his ROM for that.
And you might want to check out some cool (but sometimes slightly hazardous apps) like SD booster (sets a new cache size on your SD card to make it run faster, just search the market) or SetCPU (allows you to overclock/underclock your phone's CPU, see link at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419).
My Nook Color is running CM7 on SD card. After I turn off the screen it'd lose power completely in several hours.
I've disabled google sync, email sync, and even wifi. Nothing helps. Each time I fire up my Nook Color I have to charge it for 10 minutes first. I'm sure it's not the battery problem because if I run the stock Nook system it is not like that.
I can't find a battery usage statistics in CM7 like the one in ICS. What else can I do to prevent this battery drain?
Go to my tips thread linked in my signature and look at item A13. There is a paragraph about wakelocks and a link to get a tracking program to track them.
And if you go to settings and about tablet, there is a battery usage item there.

I had the same thing happen after flashing a ROM. Try shutting down your device completely and then booting it back up. This was the remedy for me. If this doesn't do it for you let your device run all the way down and then charge it to 100%. In both cases it was a battery stats issue for me.

I already have superuser access, but for some reason I can't mount /system writable, hence I am not able to copy the ko file down in the \system\lib\module folder. Is it because I am running this on SD card?
By the way, there is a same file exist in system/lib/module folder, date is 2011-10-24, and a little bigger than yours.

I don't understand why you are trying to put the modified kernel module on your system. Your original question was about battery drain. Unless you are having SODs, that module is not necessary.
Being on SD makes no difference. I'm not sure how you were trying to mount the /system as writable, were you using root explorer? If so you need to touch the top of the screen to toggle it to r/w. And of course there is that module already there. It is the one that came with the ROM. Putting the new one on is meant to replace it so you have no more SODs. And after you get the new one on, be sure to set the permissions correctly.
Did you install the wake lock tracking software I recommended?

Hi fellow earthlings. Yes, this phone's slowing down. Need to allocate more RAM into this puppy.
I used ROEHSOFT's RAM Expander but I have a hard time finding the path required for the RAM Swap.
Can somebody please tell me which directory I am supposed to use as the default ain't working.
Or if you have some other way for increasing the RAM then please do tell.
Thanks!
.... So nothing?
You need to find out if your phone supports swap files first. There's another app for that. I'm trying to do exactly the same thing.
I suggest to gain more ram, block wakelocks alarms and unused services
Firstly install wakelock detector on google play to detect or install Xposed and Amplify firstly
Making a swap and using ram from swap will make your device slow.
