[Q][I9505]S-memo - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys I really need your help!
I installed new rom and forgot to backup s-memo. However I did nandroid backup. So I did restore backup and everything went to normal but the s-memo. When I enter s-memo for the first time after restoring os I can see my old files but s-memo is syncing and then goes back 3 days so I don't have all memos. What can I do to restore this because I have made backup when I didn't add anything new to s-memo.
Thanks

Bump anyone ??

Backing up bits of my phone?

Hi all. I'm about to do the US T-Mobile 2.26 ROM upgrade (I'm still on 1.6.2.4 WWE). I'm generally kind of cautious about this kind of stuff, so I have a couple of questions about backing up.
1. Is it possible to backup my txt messages? I remember there being a paid program that will sync them with your Outlook (though I can't find it right now), but all I really want is to back them up once, then restore them after the upgrade.
2. Is there a way to take a snapshot backup of my device? I know that I can't just restore all my programs onto the new ROM. My goal is that if for some reason I have to roll back to the previous ROM, I can then simply restore my backup and be up and running again quickly.
Thanks!
the program your looking for is here

Actually, if you use the new version of Sprite Backup, it has a special upgrade mode where you can restore all your apps and stuff! How cool is that? 8)
Google Sprite Backup.
It will do a full backup on your device in udner 2 minutes, then should you need to restore, you can do a full restore, or choose what things you want restored.
Very handy... the other night I goofed up my registry. I did a restore just on the registry and was good to go. Definately saved me from hours of work. 8)
Thanks for the tips guys. I've bought Sprite, it seems like it will do what I need. Hopefully I'll be doing the upgrade tomorrow as I'm working all day today.
Thanks!

Backup & Recovery

I have opened a dodgy email attachment accidently which has corrupted one of my email accounts and made my HD2 forget all login passwords.
I think I am going to have to do a hard reset, but I have just (after much tweeking) got my phone working spot on and I have no idea how long it will take, or if I can remember all of the tweeks etc I have done.
Will Sprite Backup (or similar?) back up the tweeks as well as everything else? And crucially will the virus/bug be reinstated also? If thats the case I will have to start from scratch?
Thanks
spb backup backups ur whole system.. but this is only good if u only hardreset or flash the same rom again >.<
but u only want to make a hardreset so u can backup the whole registry without problems think^^
Thanks for the reply
To the OP,
I have lost track of how many posts there are on this topic. I responded to one about 3 months ago where I gave a very detailed explanation of how you can use SPB Backup to backup and restore and the circumstances in which you can do so.
If you upgrade your rom you can still restore froma previous backup; however there are certain things you need to be careful of.
I won't repeat those here; if you do a search for spb backup or backup or backup software you will soon find what you seek....http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all

Backup, upgrade and ... how to restore?

Hi all,
I just tried upgrading to cyanogenmod 2.1 - SUCCESS (thanks to this forum )
but now the next problem has presented itself... is it possible to restore my backup (more specific: text messages)?
I made a nandroid backup, and after I got to 2.1 I restored... and it did a good job, I got back to the original 1.6.
So put all this information in one question: is it possible to backup + restore my personal settings (text messages) without restoring the firmware?
Or is the backupfunction just a "I just f***ed up my phone"-lifeline?
Thanks
I see that you said you restored back to 1.6 fine using nandroid - have you checked to see if you still have your messages OK? If not then they are probably gone for good. Cant remember if you get messages back with Nandroid, as I have used BART the last couple of times which definitely included messages.
If that worked and you still have your messages, you need to use a backup app and backup those items prior to flashing 2.1, then you can just restore the messages.
I use MyBackUp Pro (there is a full test version that lasts 30 days so would probably be good for a one off demo - but is worth paying for full version as per my explanation) - it allows you to back up all apps incl their data, plus a lot of the paid apps and their data too under the app backup option; and then they also have a data backup option which allows you to backup things like contacts, sms, your home pages etc. Of course you can choose to back up all or pick individual items and its the same for restore.
This is very useful when wiping the phone, as you restore your apps backup first, then restore your data backup - thus it will also install all the widgets as the apps are already loaded - if you do it the other way around your widgets wont work and you will have to remove them from the home screen and then put them back again.

[Q] Best way to backup everything before flashing?

Hi, What apps do you guys use to backup up your SMS, Contacts, Apps etc before you wipe everything and install a new rom.
Im looking for one that has a restore feature that can easily be used without there being any problems where I'm left with all my data lost
Cheers!

Nandroid backup via CWM or Titanium Backup with rooted device.
Export to xml in titanium backup for sms
Google looks after contracts
Titanium backup for apps
Make a nandroid before you try a new Rom incase you want to go back or forget to backup something

There is also Helium which doesn't require root if you run it plugged into USB on your computer.
Hi guys!
Sorry for the late reply, but thank you for the suggestions!
Titanium backup looks too complicated :L I'm using TWRP atm so a Nandroid backup isn't an option for me I don't think..?
Helium seems to appeal for me, so I will try it out

I would advise you to make at least an EFS backup. You can use the backup function in TWRP for that.
Otherwise, Titanium backup has no real competitor, and is not complicated at all. Try it. You'll thank me later.

[Q] Help needed with backup?!

I am new to nexus 4 but not new to android .. with all my phones i experiment with different roms but everytime i change my rom i tack backup of all softwares and data manually and restore it againapp by app(very tedious process).. is there any way or software to do all the backup(call logs, sms, app+data ) and restore it automatically after changing the rom ...
please help
Yes there is. Titanium Backup allows you to back up to SD or cloud. You can backup all apks and data and restore in one go. It's not tedious but takes a little while... obviously.
The pro version of titanium backup allows one touch batch restores.
