I did what you said but the theme wont install. I've tried to put back the backup of the orinal i've made, but it wont install either. What should i do to get this or the old one working again? Sadly is the only theme i like.
Any chance for another color?? i liked this theme so much

I was just wondering if there are a clever trick to reflash a theme already installed on the device.
In this particular situation I have changed some of the icons in the framwork-res.apk. I then copied them to the theme, wich is BrightSilence, and tried to flash it all over again. Result - bootloop.
So, is there any step you could do to circumvent this, or is the only option to reflash the ROM. and then the theme?
Thanks
Yes, just reflash a unmodified version of, in your case, BrightSilence or am i missing something?
Or revert to the nandroid you made before messing with the system partition.
The thing is that BrightSilence is already installed on the device, but now I want another set of icons. Flashing the theme again with the modified framework-res just result in a bootloop.
It seems there really is no shortcut, than to reflash ROM, then new theme.
Thanks anyway.

U are wrong.
Installing theme - means overwriting some files into new ones, not adding or removing some.
So if u changed framework file, flashed and got bootloop - u can flash theme again (overwrite bad file) and boot correctly.

U have to mod framework correctly and will not end in booloops.
Use Apk Manager to decompile, change, compile and sign framework-res.apk.
Do not push file via adb - use flashable zip.

But the framework-res is from the UOT, shouldn't that be packed/signed properly?
Well, I am going to try anyway, thanks!
EDIT: Tried to cook a new file, with the exact same framework-res I used earlier. Used UOT to cook, and worked perfectly. Thanks to mendozinas! ;-)
The first thing I wanted to do after I root my Desire was to change the boot animation from 'screaming' white to black.
Since a few friends begged me to put them somewhere that is always available, I decided to do here
So for those who want the original, but black HTC boot, down and shotdown animation they are free to take it from here
P.S. I added the splash screen, if someone wants to
Boot animation for HTC Sensation is here.
Ooh, looks nice, I'll have a go at that thank you - much easier on the eyes!
This is exactly what I was looking for
Thank you very much

Haha! I made this exact same boot splash1 for my phone! Took a black background, added the Green HTC and used an inverted "Quietly Brilliant" image!
I tried to have my own down animation wherein it had the quietly brilliant visible which then slowly faded away but it refused to work

Yes. Simply replace the existing file with this.
Every developer puts the animation to another place
Shotdown animation is just for froyo rom because gingerbread has only boot & down animation.
And these are made even while the froyo was topical

Here, your downanimation.zip now works. Checked.
Don't forget to check permition after copying. (rw-r--r--).
Good luck
Thanks, but, how do I check permissions? I'm not that adept with Linux, so I'm very new to the adb shell.
Also, I threw this into /data/local/ where I think the downanimations and such should be (I think they start in system/customize/resource/ and then get moved on install) but it still didn't work. I'm going to try the resource folder and see where that gets me, but it could be that I didn't manually change permissions. I can't see my data/local/ folder in ASTRO.

I'm S-OFF'd using RCMixS (Robocik) v2.0 using this mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110921 which is just the stock Robocik ROM with D2EXT. I didn't want any of the test unstable stuff.
It's the stock hboot version and I used the stock hboot when I S-OFF'd.
I've upped downanimations before and it worked without changing permissions. Also, I've tried just opening the ROM .rar file and added them to that (replacing the ones already there) then repacking the rar and flashing but that sometimes doesn't like to work. Is there some process to follow when repacking a ROM?
I think that error is the only thing stopping me from changing ROM's to how I like them to be fair.
This is exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you

Try with Root Explorer or estrong file manager.
Boot & down animations are in /data/local or /system/customize/resource. It depends on the developer. But you must see a files. Root explorer shows that even if the file on that location is real or just simlink.
After copying the file with Root Explorer to the location, by clicking on the file, you get a menu. Select permission and set permission (rw-r--r--) for downanimation.zip
It must work.
I put my boot & downanimations and other essential items are usually put the zip before the flash
nice. i think they will need a matching splash to go with
Thanks for this, can you use root explorer to add these?

Yes, you can.
After copying the file with Root Explorer to the location, by clicking on the file, you get a menu. Select permission and set permission (rw-r--r--) for both animations.
It's ok, ADB worked well. The animation only works on shutdown, not reboot. So it was just my bad!
Not sure why ASTRO can't see inside the the data/local/ folder, but it sees the rest of the root file system. Strange, but ADB push worked initially!
Thanks.....
Always on the hunt for nice(r) boot/down screens....
Hi to all...
after seraching and reading a looong time now, i am stucked, the only thing i found was this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033366
But i own a A500 not a Xoom... so what to do?
Wishlist:
- White Home/Backbuttons (have some, from Dexters Rom)
- white clock
- white Wifi/Battery Icon (at least not this &%$(/& stock blue)
dreaming:
when you scroll through your homescreens, a blue frame appears, how can i change those color into black? would be awesome, let it completly disappear, so transparent maybe?
I know many of you like the Blue Theme from honeycomb, but... i really hat it!!!
So, if anyone could help me... please feel free.
I am using Dexters Iconia P2-2, and dont want to use another. So maybe someone can post a modified systemui.apk ?
I have no idea if such a apk is always compatible to all ROMs from 3.1, so i dont want to test the Xoom one, and in this apk are things i dont want to have (like green google search bar, green glow and so on) modding, opening apk files by myself... i think its easier for me went back in time and kill hitler...
I wonder why there is no real theme mod around here for the Acer A500.
Hope some knowing guys can help, or want the same... let's see
Thank you anyway

thats easy....I can tell you how to do it yourself..
NOTE: an apk is just a zip file, do not decompress these, rather double click them and open them in winrar and you can see the contents.
Download the xoom theme, and there is a folder called "System App" this has the apk you want to play with. inside each apk there is a file called "res" inside this there are a few folders, the ones you are interested in are any named "drawable..." this is where all of the graphics are held.
then open the zip the rom comes in, i.e double click and winrar will open, go to system\app and find the same apk that are contained in the theme, then it is a process of swapping the files from one to the other.
when you are finished making changes, copy your edited apk back into your rom and flash it without wiping data, because it is the same rom nothing will happen apart from th4e new apk will be installed!!
Hope that helps...
MG

yeah, this is what I love about android, you can take someone elses rom, skin the apk to your liking, even add missing applications you use regularly and just flash.
as long as you dont decompress, the signature usually stays intact.
if you need further assistance, pm me
edit : most imagery is in the drawable-mdpi folder
I just skinned the systemui.apk is 10 minutes just so you have an idea of how easy this is!!!!

Thanks mate I'm gonna give this one a try. Actually I flashed an icon pack for S5. It's working great but after a few reboot it suddenly changed to white icons. Not a big deal but it's ugly. Haha!
By the way, if I want to port a different stock keyboard from another custom ROM the procedure is the same? Just replace the apk file on the system and set the write permissions?

Yes just replace the apk, set permission and reboot.
Perhaps if you use password or pin on lockscreen you better install third party keyboard and set it as default just in case something gone wrong you can still unlock your phone after reboot. Then setup back samsung keyboard as default. Or just use swipe lockscreen.
But yes if done as you said shouldn't be a problem

I tried it yesterday. I replaced the SecSettings.apk with the apk that you sent me. I replace the permissions with rw-r-r and after I reboot the phone then the Settings is missing. I didn't saw an odex file on my Root Explorer. good thing that I have my Nandroid Backup.
Actually I thought that this happen because of the flashable zip for the S5 icon pack but my bad. This happen because I accidentally press an Option on the XBlast Tools to show the icons on Settings as color white. After the reboot that resolve my problem. Thanks for the effort mate
Hey Guys ,
I know that there are ways to change font for rooted android ,
I tried Fixfont and ifont
However ifont shows error 7 when i change font and fixfont changes the font but only the basic fonts but others as clock , notification panel, status bar, launcher , etc there fonts are not changed any one can solve this issue...
Sorry for bad english
If your phone already rooted, you can change it manually using file explorer.
That's what I do with my phone.
Just navigate to system/fonts and replace all the files listed below to change the font including clock, notification panel, etc. Set the permission to rw-r-r
AndroidClock
DroidSans-Bold
DroidSans
Roboto-Black
Roboto-BlackItalic
Roboto-Bold
Roboto-BoldItalic
Roboto-Italic
Roboto-Light
Roboto-LightItalic
Roboto-Medium
Roboto-MediumItalic
Roboto-Regular
Roboto-Thin
Roboto-ThinItalic
RobotoCondensed-Bold
RobotoCondensed-BoldItalic
RobotoCondensed-Italic
RobotoCondensed-Light
RobotoCondensed-LightItalic
RobotoCondensed-Regular
Backup all your files and fonts first in case of something happens, and make sure the font weight are same before you trying to replace it. (i.e replace Roboto-Bold with Bold font).
I'm not responsible if your device bootloop or softbrick.

Btw, all the previous font that I used doesn't have all the mentioned files. I just make a copy of the files with the same weight and renamed it. For example, Roboto-Bold, DroidSans-Bold, and RobotoCondensed-Bold is all the same files. Only with different name.
for rooted phone please try fonster app its working super fine, ifont throws some error 7. when changing the fonts.
