So my two Tab Pros were driving me bonkers because of the oversensitive screen was making the device almost useless, opening apps when I didn't want and being too sensitive to register touch and hold.
I downloaded an app from the Play Store which fixed the problem on both. SGS Screen Booster. Please note that I'm not spamming the forum with this-just wanted to pass it on as this issue was driving me nuts!
On the sensitivity adjustment I moved it from default of 40 to 45-50. This is with a screen protector and now both tabs are a pleasure to use. :good:

Thanks for sharing this. It does work! Though the problem still happens but the frequency really can be ignored. The interesting part is this is an old app for Galaxy S (I9000), I bet the developer didn't expect saving samsung's ass again 2 years later.

Thank you for this tip, Rich. This increased sensitivity is bugging me sometimes as well. Otherwise I am very happy with the tablet. Sometimes I just want to select an icon for an app and move it around the desktop and instead - it opens the app immediately.
Another example: I would select 'General' => 'Application manager' => 'All'
It would take me forever to scroll through all the apps. Very often as I would touch the bottom of the screen to 'scroll up' - instead of scrolling up, the app I would touch (even ever so lightly) would get selected.I have owned numerous tablets (samsung and other brands and I have never experience screen this sensitive).
I downloaded the app that you suggested but I am afraid I did not see much of a difference. You mentioned that you moved sensitivity from the default position of 40 to 45-50. (Isn't that actually 'increasing' the sensitivity?) I was very hopeful when I read these replies and folks getting favorable results, but I could not see anything. (I am running NOVA launcher, so perhaps that has something to do with the lack of result?)

The lower the number the higher sensitivity. As for the app, it didn't do much for me either. In the description for the app, the dev states that the system will revert back to normal after a certain amount of time have passed. I don't know if you need to manually adjust it back every so often to keep it at your custom settings.
For me the biggest improvement that seemed to work is installing a screen protector. I rarely get the scroll-click these days. So I would give that a go.
Thank you.
May I ask....
1) if you used any specific brand name or juts a generic one.
2) Since this helped. ... did you go for a glossy or matte texture?
.... and lastly. ...
3) as it a regular (thin/flexible) screen protector that
sells for $2-$3 each on ebay or did you used one of those expensive ones
that are hard and made of thin glass or hardened plastic?
I am trying to like this tablet and for the most part i do, but the s screen
crazy sensitivity is bothering me more and more. ...

This was the one I bought on eBay, 6 bucks generic clear. Not sure how a matte version performs.

I am not crazy about having screen protectors on my tablets. I always get them for my notes
but never for tablets. Interestingly enough, I bought a protective case for this tablet from ebay
and surprisingly it came with a free stylus and screen protector.
The protectors was pretty cheap and actually came with a bent corner. Since I knew I could
not install it perfectly flushed - I did not even bother.
After I read your post, I installed it temporarily anyway and I must say that the issue of hypersensitive
screen was not as bothersome. Even with this installed screen cover, it is still more sensitive than any
other tablet that I have owned before, but the experience of using the tablet improved - no doubt.
I just ordered a set of 3 matte covers and will remove this 'not-so-perfect' one once they arrive.
Thanks for the tip, again !

So I found a used Nexus one on craigslist for a great deal and everything works perfectly fine. The previous owner had his email engraved on the phone, but that is not an issue. The screen also has some minor scratches, but none are visible when using it. However, there is one annoying problem. A speck of dust on the bottom left of the phone. I don't know how it possibly could have gotten there.
That is the most annoying part about it. One, white, speck. Should I ask him to take it back, or am I being too picky? Does your N1 have a speck of dust?
Finally, I am worried about how this will affect resale value. I know they are currently going for $200+, but with a speck of dust and an engraved email, I don't know how much it'll be worth.
Should I get a case for the phone?
Thanks.
if that's the only thing, I'd say keep it. The sealing around that area is a problem on (all? most?) N1s. I have quite a lot of dust near that corner (and I've been very careful), if you read around you'll see it's fairly common.
It's even remarkable that it's only one speck of dust enjoy your N1!
I don't have any dust under my screen, but I remember that being a common complaint here during the first few months they were available.
If you want to risk the getting more particles in there you could take it apart using the ifixit guide and hope for the best.

Yep, as far as I can tell, the spec of dust, one minor scratch on the back, and the email engraving are the only problems. I really hope that dust particle doesn't multiply.
Does anyone think I should get a case for my new N1, or should I wear it "naked." Finally, as a new person to android, please help me get to know my phone. I want a weather app like in HTC Sense, but I don't want to install weather channel or something. I have the NYtimes widget, so I don't need the default news widget. What other kinds of apps should I have?
Finally, I will probably do a review of the N1, from a person coming from a iPhone 2g. The N1 is blazing FAST!!! The same apps on N1 load in less than 2 seconds, while on the old iphone, it would have taken 15 seconds. Heavy websites like head-fi load in 3 seconds, compared to almost 30seconds on the 2g.
Forgot to say that my phone runs 2.3.4 gingerbread, which the previous owner flashed before he sold it to me.
Run naked!
First thing i did on getting my N1 is get the hairdryer on to it. Warmed the glue behind the screen edges and then push it down to get a better seal.
Obviously a bit late for you now but may help to stop any more dust getting in
if it bothers you I'll take it off your hands for $150.

I wonder???
In any case, I just discovered this amazing thing called the "wifi never sleep policy."
So here's the deal. I have no mobile data (shocker!!). That means I shut shut off my data roaming and mobile data settings. Since I am often around wifi, I just use that. I notice that when the phone has been untouched for maybe 20 minutes or so, when my desktop client gets an email, my phone does not. So I looked around, and I found out about the wifi-never sleep policy.
What exactly does this mean? The description says that it will never switch to mobile data, but I have NO mobile data. To have maximum battery life, what should I do? Effectively, if I set to off when screen is off, wouldn't it effectively turn off ALL data (wifi and mobile data, which was never on to begin with).
Also, I could opt for 2g networks only, but I don't know if that's useful.
Still you should set wifi sleep policy to never. Its super efficient even with wifi on.

I have some dust on the bottom left corner if my screen as well. I wish I knew how to get it out. It's noticeable when there's sun shining on the phone.
I opened to clean my n1 before, but new dust came back two weeks later. Just like I didn't do anything.
I don't have any dust under my screen but i do have one hair under the screen. I leave it there to remind me of the 7 year old sweat shop worker who built my phone in China. I imagine him playfully giggling with the sweatshop child worker seated next to him, then with a firm swat to the back of the head, echoing from the taskmasters whip behind him. Then franticly and quickly pressing the digitizer on my nexus into place. But not soon enough for the single hair to fall down into its final resting place. This single storyless tear , frozen in its technological tomb for eternity .
Lest we forget

Get a screen protector. No need for a case.
I'd take it. With mine, i dropped it a few times so I have dings on the darker gray plastic bit but othe than that it's great.
The resale of the phone is probably most affected by the email engraving.

Hi everyone,
I just received my Atrix. Yes I'm back to using this beast. I have a question regarding the battery cover. On the side where it has the usb and HDMI ports the battery door closes fine and does not show any gaps. On the volume rocker side I notice there are gaps and I can see parts of the inside of the phone. I have tried several times to make sure every piece is snapped on properly but I still see the gaps. The last few tries, I pressed on it pretty hard and the gaps aren't as bad but it's still noticable. Is this a common issue with the Atrix battery cover? What should I do? I bought the Atrix brand new and shipping it back to the States is a real pain. I don't like using a case when I'm at home.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
no? my cover locks well all the way around.
Mine resides in a skin tight case 100% of the time. But, I do not have gaps either. Mine seals tight all the way around
No gaps on mine, and it's a wonder there isn't as many times as the cover has been removed for a battery pull.

Hmm, now you got me thinking it could be refurbished. There is a tiny scratch on the screen. It's only noticable when viewing a plain white screen. I did file a complaint to the retailer and they claim it's brand new. They said they could refund me 10% of the retail price. They're trying to avoid exchanging the phone because it's coming from the States. It came with the retail box. Could it be the battery door? I wonder if switching battery doors would resolve the issue.
Try calling Motorola and see if they have it in their system as having been warranty returned and then re-issued or anything.

You will need root and best to then just freeze them with TiBu if I remember correctly. Been so long since I had to worry about AT&T bloat with custom ROM's.

I asked my brother and he said it won't show up. He's into cameras and knows if certain pics will show up or not. I can ask him again. He has a high end DSLR. It is noticable in person.
I have owned over 100 cellphones. I know how to put a battery door on. Especially with my experience with Sony Ericsson's horrifc battery door issues a few years ago. I have tried many many times with the Atrix's battery door and it still shows the little gaps. The gaps are bad enough that it will collect dust inside the phone. Also on each corner of the phone, the battery door is not even.

My little sister just took that with her $80 point and shoot. There's... enough detail in that to be able to see the non-existent gap on my phone... so one would think a bigger gap would be more noticeable and even more apparent.
And... a camera that's worth at least 10 times more than hers would definitely be able to capture more detail, i would think.
So that's why i'm questioning whether it's even really a gap or just a picayune detail you picked out (say like the small gap you can see around our screen glass and the frame of the phone).

Sounds like a lighting problem. Any semi decent camera will show a gap in black on black easily if you get the lighting right. "High end camera owner" doesn't necessarily mean "knows what he is doing", and with a comment like "knows if certain pics will show up or not" I would say he doesn't really know photography.
Pics here were just taken with a colleagues iPhone 4. On the last pic I pulled the battery cover a wee bit. You can clearly see the whole area in all pics:

I don't know where you live or your money situation but you might be able to buy one locally and just return the defective one for a full refund. This way you can have a working unit asap while you deal with the bad one.
I'm just the opposite with Asus. Their hardware was always cutting edge and their device support is amazing. I had a TF101 and it was an awesome tablet. I had no issues whatsoever. The N7 being from Asus is partially why I bought it. They can have my money and support. I only recommend Asus for tablets because of the upgrades and support they give.

Man that's horrible. Yea replace that sucker. Hopefully they will send you another one before sending yours out so at least you can play with it some.

Did you do any kind of modding to it? Like removing the long strip of foam that sticks on top of a ribbon cable?

I want to know something my device screen became white and gray when I lock the screen on or the device on and have ghosting when change from screen to screen or use something for some sec
BUT when I use it for more than 5-10 men without screen off everything become normal the screen color be good and no gousting

try using a pixel fixer and let it run for 30 min or so. if that doesn't fix it then RMA.

Nexus 7 Screen "Ghosting"
I have had the same issue with my N7. I noticed this issue from day one but paid no attention it because the device was delivered late in the day and the package was extremely warm I turned it off and let it rest for a few hours to let the device cool down.
Keep in mind 15 minutes after I got the device, it was unlocked and flashed with CWM Touch Recovery. BusyBox installed, Rom Manager and a Preview build of CM10. Today I was playing a game of Sudoku and 5-7 minutes after the game was over, I closed the app out. The background to the game was solid white and the Sudoku board was black boxes. After I closed the app out you could clearly see the Sudoku board on the screen as well as the numbers and everything. I turned my N7 off and turned it back on and the bleed through was still there.
I setup a call with Google and within 4 minutes I had two e-mails. One to print off a RMA and return UPS Shipping label and the other to order my New N7. Clearly they wont let you have a replacement on good faith. They told me they had to receive my defective device within 21 days of this e-mail it had to pass testing. The representative, told me they had to test it for water damage and make sure I didn't go tap dancing on the screen... However, I had to flash stock ROM, stock recovery and re-lock the boot loader. It was easy enough.
***Edit***
A good point to bring up. Google gives you two options for returning your defective Nexus.
1. No payment method
a. Return via RMA Kit
b. wait for Google to test the device
c. Receive a replacement Nexus 7 after testing is complete
2. Payment method
a. Click on a link e-mailed to you
b. purchase your new nexus for 199.99 no S&H or taxes (This is just a hold until they receive your old nexus and test it)
c. return your nexus via RMA (you have 21 days to return or they charge you for the new nexus)
d. once Google tests and verifies your device is covered under warranty, you receive a credit to your account
I hope my new Nexus 7 doesn't have the same issue.
I've noticed mostly while browsing (especially in portrait mode) that the higher up on the screen from the bottom of the device, the faster it seems to refresh. This is painfully obvious when looking at something with straight lines as they will bend. After closer examination, this happens on everything with the device, not just browsing. I have force GPU rendering enabled, and tried turning that off, but it made no difference.
Video showing what I'm referring to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib5_7nmUtDQ
Notice how the left (top) portion of the screen responds faster to refreshing from scrolling.

That is really strange.... Not doing that on mine.
Well, if I can get a few of you guys to confirm this is exclusive to me, I'll me exchanging it. It should be painfully obvious in portrait mode on anything really. Just scroll at a few different speeds and you'll be able to tell.

Definitely not happening on mine, either. I'd initiate an exchange process immediately.
Suppose I'll be calling Google ASAP. Do they send a replacement prior to receiving my defective unit?

They authorize a hold of the price of the tablet on a card, send you a replacement; you send the defective unit back to them, they lift the hold. That's how common Google warranty replacements go (apparently they actually used to just send the device without requiring the hold, but some people took advantage of that and kept both devices... sigh)
Might be able to request for you to be able to send the tablet to them and then they send you a replacement, but idk.
Never saw this one in my N10.. but sometimes.. seems saw the app icon flashing when i turn it on from lock status.. not sure..
Mine doesn't do that. Since it looks possibly software related, i'd recommend that you do a factory reset, and check to see if it still does that while its still vanilla.
FYI, If you report the issue and initiate the replacement order per the support on the same day, they'll email you a paid UPS return label with an expiration date about 14 days. The replacement should arrive much earlier than that, so you can use the packaging of the replacement unit to return the defective one, if need be. This is from my experience.
Well I got the RMA started, but of course I wasn't planning on having to have another $400 available, so I can't go through with the RMA for at least 2 weeks (who knows if they'll even allow it then). The rep suggested going through Samsung's warranty program, but I figure they're going to send me a refurb so I've declined for now. I guess I'll request to do an RMA without having an authorization, but I can't see them doing it.
I'll try a factory reset, but I just don't see how this is software related. Such a shame too, because everything else about this device has been perfect.
Just to make the problem even easier to see, here's a screenshot from a video.

This was an email I sent to myself of essentially a straight dotted line. However, in the image you can see two partial lines. I was scrolling back and forth to show the differing refresh. The line forming on the right shows the most recent screen information starting to be displayed, while the left is slowly disappearing, top to bottom just as described originally.

The person I spoke to told me I had a year to put the $400 on hold. Not entirely sure if this was true or not though since I thought Play Store purchases had only 15 days?
Perhaps I had a misunderstanding of the way the Play Store works. The rep just told me I have a year to file a warranty claim and the 15 days is just a buyer's remorse period. While that's fine and dandy, I'm still bummed that I have to wait awhile before I can go through with the RMA since advanced RMA is the only method they offer.

Mine does the same (in Chrome). But not as heavy. Maybe a Chrome bug?

I was experiencing the same thing see my thread I started
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1999152
it's software not hardware, all displays do it just more noticeable on this tablet due to high resolution and gpu drivers probably not mature enough yet to handle faster refresh or graphics rendering. But this is definitely the same thing i am seeing on my tablet, makes me dizzy to use in portrait mode due to that wavy bendy effect. So I am using it in landscape.
I have an Ipad 2 where i didnt see this until i went back to check on it after seeing it on my nexus and if i look closely i can see it on my ipad 2 as well just its not very noticeable so i never paid attention to it. so its definitely software related due to gpu drivers. im hoping they get optimized with time if not i will have to sell and get ipad 5 when it comes out.

I tried different browsers and its the same on all. but definitely more noticeable on chrome.
If others are experiencing this, then I'm probably not going to return the device. Everything else about it is flawless (minimal backlight bleed, no dead pixels, back cover doesn't make noise). So if some more of you could chime in here just to be sure, it'd be great.

I feel the same way. Everything else is perfect. That's why I'm holding out hope the drivers get optimized and the effect will no longer be that noticeable. I just looked back at my ipad 2 and it has the same effect. But I have to really look for it to notice it. Before I never even knew it did it because it renders much faster due to lower resolution so it's practically unnoticeable.
I have it on my Nexus 10 as well. It has to do with the way the screen refreshes, top-to-bottom. When the tablet is rotated, it becomes the left (or right) edge and the wobbly effect can be noticed when scrolling. Pretty much any device with this high resolution of a display is going to have the issue. I just looked at an iPad 4 and it does the same thing.
I have this too in dolphin browser. Don't notice in landscape but do so in portrait. Not sure it is a refresh problem though, Windows Phone 8 does a similar effect on purpose for example. Either way I have no problem with it.
i notice the wobble as well
It does it on mine too. In both Boat Browser and Chrome. Just use it in landscape, its what it is designed for
So I have only had my S7 edge for just a little more than 24 hours. I have already noticed when attempting to swipe away some apps in recent apps it opens the app instead of swiping it away. I noticed it does this if I only swipe to the side a short amount, maybe about an inch. But if I do a longer swipe, it swipes away. Almost as if it doesn't register a short swipe as a swipe.
Then later on I had dual app split screen mode start when I did not click to do it. I clicked the back button to get out of it, which it did. Although then it went right back to split screen when I was not even touching the screen. Luckily this only happened once, but the swiping thing is reproducible every time. I never had this issue on my S6 or Nexus 6P. Is anyone else experiencing any touch screen related issues?

I came from the Note 5 and never experienced this before. For me if I am scrolling through say Google Now and looking at all the cards, as I am swiping up, it ends up launching whatever I am touching at the time. Same thing in the app draw and so on. I find myself launching things a lot that I didn't mean too. If I press down harder it doesn't seem to have the problem. Seems like the sensitivity is off or I am just not used to it.
Ive always had this problem. With my Nexus 6 and my v10.
Also furthermore I just noticed you need a longer than usual swipe to swipe away notifications on the lock screen. With a short quick swipe it moves some then slides back. That actually seems more like software since it does slide some before it slides back.
I'm hoping all this is software. It's an early first build for a brand new phone. So hopefully this is just an early bug in this build that needs worked out.

There's an OTA going out to some models now fixing issues with "Edge Screen". Perhaps this will be resolved then.

Thanks for the heads up. But I got that update the day I turned the phone the first time Tuesday. So all these issues were after that.
I had 2 more weird touch screen issues occur. I was using the camera for a prolonged period of about 7-8 minutes and the shutter button stopped responding. It would not take the picture no matter how many times I pressed it. After I swiped out of the camera app and opened it again, then it was functioning again. That seemed more like a software issue since restarting the app fixed it.
Then I had the phone go into split screen mode again today when I was no where near the capacitive keys. I really hope that's software too. If no update comes out by next week to fix it for me I am going to go in store to play with the one there see if I can reproduce it. Possibly exchange for another S7 edge incase it's a bad touch screen I got, if its not resolved with software in about 8 days or less.

You received an OTA on Tuesday? I haven't gotten anything yet and just checked manually a moment ago. What build do you have now?
Go to dev options and turn on show touches to see if the screen is registering touches if so it's software had this problem on my note5 when it first came out

Seems to be a software issue. There's already a big thread on the main xda forum on it.

If that's the same I think it was just the Edge application that was updated. My edge application is on version 1.1.08
