TB insufficient space - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This happened before, but I already have backups which I've done when on Omega....now I can't write new backups for some reason. I see a notice that the target folder is not write able but I am rooted...I'm lost.

hello. if you're rooted, try this : SDFix: KitKat Writable MicroSD here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix.
It works perfectly for me.

Solved the issue completely by rooting and installing Alliance ROM it allow the following: • Enabled External Sd-Card Read/Write Functionality

Internal storage issues??? Check this out!!

hey guys I was doing a little searching around and was reading a thread in the ARC section which eventually lead me to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310309
Now check out this beefy internal storage Thats 3.5 gigabytes!!!
It's data2ext, I can send you some links for some scripts, but be warned, if you dont have a class 10 SD Card, your phone will grind to a holt
I'm using a class 4 with that mod and it's working great tons of space for whatever I've got no force closes all my apps work just as they should with no problems at all

This looks great! But do i have to flash my device for this, and do i have to install everything again? Like your using the phone for the first time?

No it works like apps2sd, but rather than just symlinking /data/app and /dalvik-cache/ it symlinks the whole data partition. so all your apps would be auto symlinked. You will need a custom kernel with init.d support though.

Does this work on all DoomLord's kernels?
The end result is so cool, im just not confident on myself enough to do the procedure yet, its all technical for me
I'm using Link2Sd for internal storage issues for now..

I haven't tried on all dooms kernels so far just the CM kernel and all I did was make a partition from recovery, I made a ext4, then flash the script it was just that easy now I've got space for whatever I need. I made a modest 1.5 gig partition and away I went

I get problems with internal storage, but mine are different. I'll have 70 megs free, but if I want to update a bunch of apps that are ~5 megs each, it'll say I don't have enough free space and stops. ugh.

I had that very same problem when I moved the dalvik cache then I came across this script and problem solved!

Sent from my R800i using XDA App
I thought i did, but it still was buggy. Simcard problems and bootloops. Unfortunately...
Tried latest DoomKernel and v06.
So i went back to link2sd.
The original thread seems dead, i posted there, but no response.

Is this the same as clearing the dalvik cache? I've done that in TB.
Please help. I don't know which method is better to move those unmovable apps.
Hi!
I need help, please.
My internal storage is very low (getting a message). I have gone through all the apps and moved everything that can to SD Card.
I don't know which method is better to move those unmovable apps to the SD card.
I have a Sony Xperia Play
My Phone details:
Model - R800i
Android Version - 2.3.4
Kernel Version - 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1
Build - 4.0.2.A.0.42
I have heard about Titanium Backup root, DroidSail Super App2SD, adb, Link2SD and so on.
The methods above can let me move those unmovable apps to the SD card.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of them? How do they compare? Which method is safer or more reliable? Which method can move more apps?
If you know, please let me know, thanks.
I look forward to this, thanks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I got this information from the official Link2SD website, this is comparing Native apps2SD to Link2SD. But I don't know how Link2SD compared with Titanium Backup root, DroidSail Super App2SD, adb and so on. If you know which method is safer or more reliable and which method can move more apps, please let me know, thanks.
Comparision of Native apps2sd and Link2SD:
(Native apps2sd
Starting with Android 2.2 (Froyo) Google introduced native apps2SD.
This method moves
* apk file on Android 2.2
* apk + lib files on Android 2.3+
into a secure folder on your SD card in the main FAT partition.
It is the easiest method because it doesn't require you to partition your sdcard and root privilige.
It has some disadvantages though.
First disadvantage is that application files are just stored on the sdcard's main FAT partition.
When you enable USB mass storage to share files with your computer (or otherwise unmounts or removes the external storage), any application installed on the external storage and currently running is killed.
The system effectively becomes unaware of the application until mass storage is disabled and the external storage is remounted on the device.
Besides killing the application and making it unavailable to the user, this can break some types of applications in a more serious way.
So second disadvantage is that not all apps can be moved with native apps2sd method because of above reason.
In order for the application to consistently behave as expected, developer should not allow the application to be installed on the external storage if it uses any of the following features, due to the cited consequences when the external storage is unmounted:
Widgets, Services, Alarm Services, Live Wallpapers, Live Folders, Account Managers, Sync Adapters, Broadcast Receivers listening for "boot completed".
Force move (requires root);
You can force the apps move to SD card with native apps2SD even the application does not support moving as described above.
Link2SD and some other apps can force move apps if you have root priviliges. But, note that this can break some applications, as described above.
)
i can't use that on trueanscetor and NXT ( with doom kernel )
it goes on boot-loop , sometimes it succeed to boot but can't detect my sim-card ( i couldn't have call )
can you please help me

I can vouch for link 2 SD. Gave me quite a lot more storage space. "Lordbattlebeard" helped me set it up in another thread. Admittedly, I don't know much about the other 2 so can't help on that front

Nandroid location?

Just rebooted my phone (rooted s4 w/ twrp recovery, stock rom) and it said that my sd card failed (64 g samsung pro) and would I like to re-format. So I did.
Which obviously erased all data. That is where my nandroid backup WAS.
So, I did another nandroid on both the newly formatted sd card AND one on the internal memory. This obviously ate up alot of precious space on the phone.
Any advise or input would be welcome.
Will it just get deleted from the internal, when I flash a new rom?
Thanks

Only if you format data. ... I believe

As a precaution, I'd highly recommend backing up your nandroids to either your computer, or to the cloud (or both).
If you choose to backup to cloud, from my experience: box didn't work for me (because of the individual file size being too large - had to use copy or dropbox)
Edit: Oh, and the next time you have the same issue with phone recommending a reformat, try to unmount, and mount it again. (throw a reboot into the mix if that doesn't work) - it solved the "bad sd card" issue when I had it.

[Q] Help Recover files after userdata partition got wiped!!!

Hey guys as usual I had an itch to change something on a fully functional phone. So going from cm10.2 to paranoid I accidently ran the stock image 4.3 batch file forgetting that it wipes my internal memory and now I need to recover some files. The mmcblk0p23 block is the userdata parition I believe so I need to recover that somehow?
Can anyone help me...I followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994705&highlight=0kb, but only ended up with a 0kb file.

It will not work with the Nexus 4, because MTP/PTP is not supported by the scanning tools. It will not be read properly which is why it showing as a 1kb file. Unfortunately all data is erased when you fully wipe NAND flash memory on a factory restore so your data cannot be recovered.
You do not have a SD/MMC card. That thread is mostly for phones with SD card data it works on a few HTC ones but not nexus.
sorry I couldn't help more
Not true I ran this same thing and it worked but couldn't recover anything useful. Are you typing in su when opening the second terminal command? If so try it without typing su or vice versa.
Search in that thread for 0kb some people in that thread had the same issue.

that thread is made for the galaxy nexus which also does not have an external memory only internal like ours...
In the commands are you using "....system/bin/..." or ".../xbin/..."? For me I had to use xbin and try it again without the su commands and see if that makes a difference.

[Solved by Formatting interal storage] :( Storage problem?

When I go to my settings and check out my storage, it says I have 9gb to use by only 1gb available, but it doesn't tell me what is taking up all this space. I just rooted it and the super user keeps saying su binary must be updated and it fails when I update it, and I changed custom roms to see if that would change it and it's the same problem
The picture I attached can better explain it

Have you tried rebooting? Do you have any TWRP/CWM backups saved to the internal storage?

Ah I see when you updated to aosp it added a new partition to your memory and ditched the standard and make a new folder called "0" which is where all your stuff is for that ROM and anything you had before updating to aosp is the in other folder so basically /sdcard is the directory you need but if I'm correct your phone is reading /emulated/0 which is why it doesn't tell you what is taking up space

This started in stock touchwiz after a failed root, then i changed roms hoping it would help. I ended up using TWRP to clear internal storage and it fixed it and I fixed my root problem, so I think I'm good now, thanks though guys I'll put [Solved] in the title.

[Q] Titanium Backup and External SD card issues

I have the 7" Tab 4 and am running rooted stock ROM. Have Titanium Backup pro, but there's no option to "move to SD" for any application, even ones I know can be moved to SD. Also, using the regular Android interface to move apps, sometimes they fail with an unhelpful error of "Unable to move app to SD".
Also, I tried to move my Titanium Backup folder from internal storage to the external storage. Moved it using ES File explorer to /storage/extSDCard/TitaniumBackup but TB doesn't detect it, and if I browse to it and set it as the folder, it tells me the folder is not writeable.
Have you applied the kitkat sd patch/fix and reformatted your sd? I cant remember what you need to format sd to as mine worked striaght out of its package on my tab s.

Applying the patch fixed part of the problem - TB can now write to the SD card. I didn't reformat - SD card was working otherwise and worked straight out of the box too.
Still no "move to SD" option (or the reverse) though.
Try folder mount from the play store
http://www.devasque.com/foldermount/index.html
That's has the download and has the [How to] and tips
You can use an app like rom toolbox or link2sd and it should let you move the majority to your sd card. Now some apps do not allow this period. Its how the dev had coded their app to work but if you try these it may help a bunch. I myself use the rom toolbox lite and have no problems at all!
