Z2 LTE version rooted confirmed!!! - Xperia Z2 Tablet General

Hi everyone,
Before I say anything, I wanted to give a huge thank you for all the devs who uploaded the .255 TFT and boot.img for the Z2 WIFI version.
I do have the LTE version running on .255 TFT, and I can confirmed that it is rooted with all the bells and whistles.

I'm thinking of buying one but If I can't unlock the bootloader I don't know If I will, probably not.
What do you know about It? Why would Sony make lte version bootloader unlockable? Do I have to look for another tablet?

Note I vs Note III ATT Should I?

I have the International Original N7000 Note. It is unlocked and I have used it on ATT since it came out. I'm rooted and have Rocket ROM on it
Since it was always my phone, I never worried about ATT giving me a hard time about it being Rooted.
But I am thinking of upgrading to the new Note 3 from ATT.
I'm sure ROMs will be developed for it.
What are the pitfalls with ATT if I root the phone? Other than they wouldn't support it if I bricked it.
Will they Brick it with an Update?
Will they detect it is rooted and give me a hard time?
Looks pretty sharp and I can sell my Unlocked International note for some pretty good change still. But I know I'll want to root the phone.
The AT&T boot loader is locked. It will need to be cracked before a custom ROM is possible, and the S4 hasn't been cracked since the original vulnerability was "fixed" .
You may be out of luck with AT&T.

Hmmm, so none of the ATT branded notes could be rooted?
I'll have to look into some other LTE version perhaps.

[Q] It's SIM unlocked? It can be bootloader unlocked?

Hi!
Thanks for be reading, I want to buy a Razr M for a while now, I had make some questions before, but know I just want to be sure about somethings before I buy them, they are going to be 2.
1º, I would like to know if the phone it's really unlocked for overseas uses, I don't live in USA but I fall for this phone the moment I see it.
2º. I can't live without CM, but in the official suport page states that need unlock bootloader and to be unlocked it need to be on stock prior to 9.20.1. Some days ago I googled it and found nothing, but know it's just about being sure.
3º, Would you still recomended this phone? -- I'm going for a use one, cause I just have ~$150. The pros I see for this phone are the Super AMOLED screen, the dual core procesor and the 1Gb of RAM. I think it's a perfect math. I don't really see any other options with better specs, but, againg, just to be sure.
Thanks you!
Yes, the phone is global capable. No, you can't unlock the BL if is has an update from 9.20.1 or after. You can root that system version, but if you get a phone with newest update you won't be able to root it. For the price that these phone are going for now, it would probably be worth the money. Just be aware that you might not be able to modify it.

But it is compatible? Now try but could
So, what do you guys think about this update? Is it really worth it? Curious to know.
The biggest reason for me to change was to get Remote Play to link with my PS4. Also, the applications button is now shifted to the middle of the bottom edge. Other than that, I haven't noticed any huge changes that blew me away.
Remote Play is pretty cool though, tried it out for a little bit last night and it was good enough to play Call of Duty campaign mode.

Well, technically, it's not such a big deal, to swap kernels/ramdisk with an unlocked bootloader. It's a simple edit. But, at this point, it would mean unlocking bootloader, and losing DRM keys (still not sure what functions besides some lost advanced camera functions, not that anybody uses the camera anyhow except for skype).
Under the old rooting, it used an exploit to modify ramdisk, (and install the necessary apps), without unlocking bootloader via an exploit.
As for me, I will wait a couple weeks and see if there's a new exploit. If not, well, I will do the above method.

Basically DRM keys are used to see if you have unlocked the device (in the past). So mainly for Sony to check if your warranty is still valid.
There is a tool that will backup your DRM keys though, and can restore it too. You just need root for that (just downgrade, root, backup keys and upgrade again) Just Google Xperia DRM backup and you're bound to find out

We need more LB support.

Hey guys, just a quick thread.
I think this phone needs more LB support. Has anyone even tried a bypass method for us with LB to be able to flash custom kernels? I know back when I had a Bell Motorola Atrix there was a hack that gave us the ability to unlock our bootloaders. Why aren't we trying to find one for this phone?
I understand that those with LB can't use the official method for unlocking the bootloader, but is there not a hack we could work towards? Has anyone even tried to unlock the LB Xperia Z2? There must be a way.
Besides that, I also think it would be good to have more LB support in android development. For example a CM11 that can be used on LB devices. I'm currently running Miui 4.4.4 and it supports both LB and UB.
Cheers

The best way to support LB is to have a rom version that uses the stock kernel. Hopefully this is what happens moving forward with the release of a sony lollipop update.

I think I saw from some other threads that the reason why we can't work towards unlocking non-unlockable bootloaders is because we need to break sony encryption or something like that?
I don't know, sorry.
We are at the peak of Locked Bootloader Support.
We cant do anything more unless someone wants to spend so much time to do so.
Cracking sonys bootloader encryption results essentialy in an unlocked bootloader hence thats somewhat pointless
We cant unlock a non unlockable Xperia unless as said the encryption is cracked
And sonys encryption is almost FBI level and it may even vary per Z2
Cm11/12 on locked bootloader is possible but its extremly complicated and setting up a rom like such on LB is complicated too
You have to root your device, install a custom kernel to the fotakernel given that its not bound by the bootloader then we have to make a modified rom which reboots the fotakernel then the custom rom that matches

Best to wait for OTA lollipop update then?
If it were standardized, say if CM11/12 took on the responsibility of releasing a LB rom, would it not make the process easier for everyone else?
Just do the same as me, sell the phone and buy another brand like motorola or something like that.
But nobody wants a Z2, hard to sell as hell.

Or just do your research and don't get a locked device.
Actually I think it shouldn't be too difficult to install cm11/12 on LB. There is a method which has worked now for some months on the Xperia SP which let you run any ROM on the stock kernel. I think these modified for LB ROMs load a custom ramdisk at a late point in the boot process. I'm not familiar with the way it works but I guess with some reasonable work amount it might be doable for the Z2 too. If someone is willing to try to port it pm me, I can provide you with the usernames of the people who made it on the XSP.

The easiest way is to change your phone to an unlock BL allowed: yes one.
If it was easy to run custom kernels on a LB , having an UB or LB would be practically the same...
I also have an unlockable phone, but it's my own fault for not researching better before buying the phone. i never had sony phones before, i should have researched more. Since the security of the z2 is very high i'm not expecting to run customs kernels anytime soon, if i ever need it it'll try to sell my phone and buy an unlocked one...

miui is stock based hence why it works on LB
Its extremly hard to get any custom kernel to run on a device to have it work on LB as said its pointless bugging people about it.

Unless someone can get a lucky catch.
Hah, well hopefully people support LB by including a stock kernel version for all roms (especially with release of official lollipop stock kernel --soon?--).

It has been a few years since i've unlocked a bootloader on a xperia device so I'm a bit confused:
At the moment it's only possible to obtain root with an unlocked bootloader but unlocking my bootloader means the DRM keys are whiped. I cant do a TA-backup because i have no root yet. But the DRM-fix in this kernel will fix everything so I wont loose any functionallity? So TA backup isnt needed any more? and does unlocking the bootloader still has consequences?

I would assume so, but I can't get 34.0.A.1.277?*Customized US to boot with the kernel to try it. Strange that it works for me with other customizations, just not US. And I can't live with the reception loss on LTE if I flash anything other than US/Canada firmwares. Granted I'm new to the Xperia scene, but seems like kernel should work with 34.0.A.1.277?*across the board.
