wlan_rx_wake wakelock - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Lately I have been having issues with my battery being drained when my WiFi is turned on, wlan_rx_wake is preventing my S4 from going into Deep Sleep.
Any suggestions? are there any compatible kernels that would resolve this issue?
Samsung Galaxy S4 (I337M)
ROM: Stock KitKat 4.4.2 rooted

This wake lock is very difficult to get rid of. You might be interested in the op of this

[Q] l2_hsic wakelock

I'm new here and I'm sorry if I'm breaking any rules by posting this.
I'm really concerned and tired with my GS4's battery life. Recently I found that the culprit might just be the l2_hsic wakelock, which is keeping my phone awake 90% - 95% of the time according to Wakelock Detector.
I've seen a couple other threads on this, but they are for the Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Note II. I don't know if they would help for my GS4.
I need a little help with this, I'll do anything to try to solve this problem.

ATT D800 KitKat Bluetooth battery usage

So I just OTA updated to 4.4.2 and have noticed my battery is draining a lot faster on 4.4.2 than when I was on 4.2.2. Under usage there is Bluetooth using 15% battery with 1hr48mins of stay awake time. Is there something I can do to remedy that? KitKat is great and all but I've gone from an average of 7-9 hours of on screen time to 3 hours or so since the 4.4.2 ota.

Factory reset fixed mine, but I'm on TMO and not ATT.
I am running on 4.4.2 with root and am seeing Bluetooth using 4-5% under battery usage when it is supposedly off. I did inadvertently factory reset my phone last night and still see the issue. Hopefully there are some other solutions.

My bluetooth was at 18% battery usage. I did a full discharge and recharged it last night and that dropped it down to using 5% but seeing as how bluetooth isn't active at all on my phone it shouldn't be in the list. Interestingly I have narrowed it down to a KitKat bug bc I factory reset my device to 4.2.2 and the bluetooth usage issue isn't present. So it's a bug. I don't know if it is actually using battery or not or if the device is just reporting falsely because when I go under running apps Bluetooth isn't running BUT... when I click all apps and click bluetooth it has the option to force stop bluetooth. So it's as if it IS running but it isn't running. Makes no sense. Hopefully AT&T will issue a patch for it. Until they do I am staying on 4.2.2

For me everything is much quicker and significantly better battery life since upgrading to KK and using a few Xposed modules along with Greenify and the firewall. I wouldn't go back to 4.2.2 just b/c of a Bluetooth glitch, however annoying it currently is.

Yeah but see what you had to do to get where 4.2.2 is? You had to use xposed And Greenify to keep your wakelock in check. I will agree that kitkat runs circles around 4.2.2 in terms of speed but imo if it comes at the expense of battery life and forces me to jump through hoops then I'm good with waiting until the Googs patches it. Google is aware of the issue and are working on a patch.

Especially since I get 7-9 hours of on screen time. I'm not gonna complain about 4.2.2 lol

I noticed an increase in battery life going from rooted 4.2.2 with greenify and firewall to 4.4.2 stock no root. When I got root on 4.4.2 and started using a couple modules in xposed along with greenify it only got better. The first run down of my battery netted 58 hours with about 12% battery left.
I noticed after using my Bluetooth for an extended period that I now have two Bluetooth objects listed under battery usage. One has the Bluetooth logo and the other has a system styled logo with a small Bluetooth logo embedded into it. Not sure if that will be of help to anyone or not.

No need to reboot, just switch airplane mode on and off.

I have not ran into this with my S5, I did with my Samsung Galaxy Nexus every once in a while though. Only time I had wifi issues with my S5 is when I had to reboot my network router and then I just toggled wifi off and then back on and has been good since.
I thinking it's a software/app problem as when it happens I'm still connected to wifi and everything else works as normal.

S5 Wifi issues
Hello
I had the same problem with my S5. I have updated ROM
and now it works but it eats my battery under 12 hours if I turn
wifi on. If I turn it off and don't touch my phone then it lasts for
several days. Is it a ROM issue or is it a hardware problem?
By the way, the battery is brand new and original.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Andras

[Q] Such thing as a "defective" phone?

Let me preface by saying I absolutely loved my galaxy note 2 and had the most incredible battery life with it. When I got this GN3, I instantly found that my battery life was extremely downgraded and nowhere comparable to the GN2. After owning it for 3-4 months, rooting it, and installing many ROMs I still have incredibly bad battery life.
Yes, I have done all the battery saving medications (SYNC off/ BT off/ WiFi off, etc etc). I did notice however that with BetterBatteryStats and GSAM and WLD that I had many crazy things going on in the background (random processes running that I couldn't find any solution for on the internet). I had incredible battery drain even with WiFi on vs 4g.
SO I am having my GN3 sent out to Samsung to test it for overheating issues/battery life. My question to this forum is Can this thing just be a faulty unit? Is this a known problem? I have never had this problem so I thought I would put it out there. Thanks in advance.
It's possible you got a crappy note 3. Have you been installing your roms on your stock slot or another rom slot? I've heard of battery issues with the current set of roms if aren't installed in the stock rom slot.

samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 is shut off itself + Battery Drains after turning it on!!!
I've been using my S4 I9500 for about 3 weeks. everything's fine but, the phone just shut off itself randomly while using it. After That I can't turn it on again unless I remove the battery then put it again, but unfortunately when I turn it on ... 3 seconds and same thing happen again. When my S4 I9500 shut off itself battery drains super fast, I mean for example before it shut off itself the battery was 60% ,, after I turned it back on it is 12%!!!!!!!:crying:
This also happen sometimes when I launch my camera..
Neither the battery nor the phone always feel warm when that happen. I totally have no clue why this happened. anyone here is experiencing the same thing with your s4 I9500?
Hope That Someone Really Helps ME
PS: I Rooted my phone yesterday with the help of a post on XDA Developers forum But That happened also before rooting it... !!!
Note: My S4 I9500 is running Lollipop Android Version 5.0.1
Thank You all!!!.. :fingers-crossed:
