4.4 to 4.4.2 (rooted with custom lockrings, sounds..) - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to just undo the root, apply the OTA and root again? thanks

As long as you have stock recovery you should be fine.

Does 4.2.2 ota break root?

Said something about unsigned or unverified from cwm recovery. Aborted now I'm curious what to do next.

Guess I'll wait till I get home so I can root again. Thanks

I just used the toolkit to root again afterwards.
Toolkit option 4?

Yes. However, mine is the donate version, so I'm not sure if that will make a difference. You might want to check out the thread first.
Why not just fastboot flash your recovery and then use that to flash your su zip?

[Q] KitKat on Nexus 4

guys, do you think our Nexus 4 can get a KitKat update ?
And what about if Nexus 4 unlock bootloader, stock 4.3, and unroot ? still get OTA's update ?
sorry if my question is weird. but this makes me so curious.

Of course it'll get kitkat.
And yes you shouldn't have any issues getting the ota. As long as everything is stock you are fine. Bootloader state (unlocked or locked) has nothing to do with your ability to receive otas.

thanks.
sometimes I was very hesitant to get otas update.

Anyone have mk2 update .zip??

I'm on mja and looking to update to mk2. Im rooted with stock ROM with custom recovery with hotspot mod. I don't want to lose data or root so is there an mk2 update zip file I can just flash in recovery?

I did...one thread says to use Odin but does that lose data? I come from the nexus side of things so everything is easier. This is confusing with the samsungs. I'm doing all this for my dads phone.

can i flash those 4.4.3 costom rom on top of what i have ? or we have to wait for stock 4.43?
Did you back up your stock rom. I think it will do because it will erase everything event your internal file. After that you can root and install twrp.

Yes have my backup stock.

So I have to go back to stock rom before I can flash 4.4.3 custom rom? What about do I need to update the bootloader?

Restore to stock, plug your n7 to computer and make sure you have unlock boot loader, install n7 driver with adb , turn on USB debuting, and open the latest wugfresh root tool kit. Choose your firmware which is ktu84l n7 wifi. Find flash stock and unroot button. It will request you to download factory img. If you already download then proceed to flash. it will take a while just be patient. If done you can rooted back, just choose root with custom recovery.
Guys correct me if I am wrong, this is my personal experience.
