Yes it does, I'm currently having this problem... Rooted, updated ota and now root is gone and not sure what to do

Guess I'll wait till I get home so I can root again. Thanks
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
I just used the toolkit to root again afterwards.
Toolkit option 4?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Yes. However, mine is the donate version, so I'm not sure if that will make a difference. You might want to check out the thread first.
Why not just fastboot flash your recovery and then use that to flash your su zip?

Check the market for OTA root keeper, use that and let the update install.

It never used to work without stock recovery but I think CWM will allow you to install the OTA now.

Its been working fine without stock recovery for a long time.
Since I'm rooted with custom rom/kernel, my guess is that I won't get ota. But I can flash the image in bootloader.
Since my favorite roms are 4.2, and it looks like my favorite kernels are in the same boat I feel like I should wait.
If I wanna keep them I should wait? Right
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
If u want to use 4.2 ROMs, it seems obviously you should wait updating yeah.
And no u wont get OTA when on custom recovery, neither on custom rom/kernel.

You can install the OTA manually but you wont be able to install the OTA from the system updates setting.

In 4.2.2 I used AOKP. I think they're working on 4.3 now (hopefully it will be out soon).
Cyanogemod is pretty awesome and simple too.

Not if you don't reboot after you unlock. Flash a custom recovery right after you unlock wipe caches then reboot = no data loss

I don't recommend toolkits they aren't needed for nexus devices. Follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266654
You will learn in the process

If you are looking for some performance enhancements then you just need a root and CWM(recovery) installed for flashing kernels, check Nexus 4 toolkit. Custom ROMS are more for aesthetic enhancements, and the most worked ROM on the area of aesthetic changes is Paranoid Android ROM, they have regular builds for Nexus 4. So check them out, Enjoy your N4 ! .

Hey guys,
I have TWRP set up and rooted but I hate that little open lock icon when I boot up the phone.
If I relock the bootloader will I still be able to flash mods/roms etc since I have TWRP installed?
Thanks in advance!
Without stock when you relock it will just keep booting back into the bootloader instead of android

So it won't boot into bootloader the whole time or will it?

Well I guess I care. Not only because it's irritating but also to get warranty back.

With a custom recovery. Relocking the bootloader should cause the device to fail to boot.
It doesn't matter if you still have a stock rom.
It will fail the locked checks and put you straight into the bootloader
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
just revert to stock with original recovery if worried about it since you cant lock it on custom firmware
Okay thank I know enough, will just let the unlocked lock icon show.

can i flash those 4.4.3 costom rom on top of what i have ? or we have to wait for stock 4.43?
Did you back up your stock rom. I think it will do because it will erase everything event your internal file. After that you can root and install twrp.
vs980
Yes have my backup stock.

In that case copy all your backup to computer and run nexus root toolkit, just follow the instruction and you good to go.

So I have to go back to stock rom before I can flash 4.4.3 custom rom? What about do I need to update the bootloader?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Restore to stock, plug your n7 to computer and make sure you have unlock boot loader, install n7 driver with adb , turn on USB debuting, and open the latest wugfresh root tool kit. Choose your firmware which is ktu84l n7 wifi. Find flash stock and unroot button. It will request you to download factory img. If you already download then proceed to flash. it will take a while just be patient. If done you can rooted back, just choose root with custom recovery.
Guys correct me if I am wrong, this is my personal experience.
