[Q] Poor battery life with replacement LG G2 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I first got my LG G2 phone, I was quite happy with the battery life. I could get about two days of battery life with a full charge. After not owning the phone for too long, the screen went garbled and stopped working. Loose connector, I suppose. Anyway, I got a replacement LG G2 (factory refurb, I assume) and the battery life is about half of what it was before. I'm lucky if I can go a full day without requiring a top-off.
Given that the G2 phone line was only released about 6 months ago, it's hard to imagine that the replacement phone's battery was used so much that it doesn't hold a significant charge anymore. The phone is similarly configured (stock Verizon OS, rooted, a number of bloatware apps removed), so I can't imagine why the battery life is so much worse. Had I not experienced such good battery performance with my first phone, I perhaps wouldn't mind so much. But this one is definitely a let-down.
What could possibly cause such a difference in battery life between my two instances of the same model phone? If my replacement phone does indeed have a defective battery, I'm suspicious whether I'd be able to get another replacement just because the current one isn't as good as my old one. Is perhaps the quality control on the G2 battery low enough that you might by luck get a good one or a bad one, and I was lucky with my first one and unlucky with my replacement?
Thoughts?

Mine is same my first g2 can get up to 6 hours of screen on time,But in the second g2 i only get max of 3 hours of screen on time...

Is this the original battery?

Alright, I've had a G2 until a day before Christmas I traded it with someone and got a white myTouch. it's great, I'm loving the sense expresso UI, but the battery is horrible. I got so used to the great battery I used to get with the G2 (about 2 days with moderate use) but I am worried that the battery I got isn't the original and looks old, used with the stickers and is easy to bend.
I'm worried that that might be the reason why the battery life is bad aboout (8hours with light usage, lowest brightness, etc)
The model is, BB442100.
The part number is this, 35H00142-00M
The serial is, 2V5E304V008704
It is a 1400mAh battery but I am worried that it might have came from another old device.,

I don't think so mine shows
Model - BD42100
Part Number - 35H00142-02M
i have a Model BD42100
P/N 35H001142-03M
Sounds like is a original battery but may just be defective. Id call t-mo and see what they can do. For my mytouch 3g they sent me a new battery but i had the warranty. If your forced to buy a new battery you may want to look into buying one of these. http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/basi16ht421.htm I've been debating on picking one up myself and a friend of mine has one and swears by it...
Sense ui is a major battery killer. I have a friend that has a completely stock phone and also has horrid battery life as I did as well. But I switched to cm7 and get amazing battery life. I'm not saying to switch roms but sense is a major battery drain

random hardware issues? your battery might be going bad!

Hi everyone!
(TL;DR: i had hardware issues - overheating, slow mobile data, crappy battery life on 3G, non-responsiveness, etc. - that all got solved by replacing the battery for a new one)
I've been a faithful N1 user (briefly went to the nexus S, but came back) since april 2010, and my nexus one has been great ever since i got it.
A few months ago, I started having random hardware issues: first my camera led wouldn't turn on, then the speaker and vibrating motor went bad (I replaced all three parts with spares from ebay), and while i thought everything was repaired, I started having serious battery life and other random issues i couldn't really diagnose.
My phone would overheat after around 5 minutes with the screen on (i.e. while reading the morning news), 3G data was spotty and very slow, and the phone would sometimes be unresponsive for brief amounts of time. Also, my battery life dropped from lasting the whole day, to not even reaching 3PM. I managed to solve most of the issues by going 2G only - after all, I said, it's been almost 2 years and the phone was bound to go bad some time - however, the phone never really felt stable again.
In the meantime, I bought an OEM battery and a replacement digitizer (my battery stats blamed the screen for like 90% of battery consumption, so I guessed there was some sort of electric short on the digitizer or lcd, and the battery calibration app said my battery was only 84% fit), so I guessed I could try one last round of repairs before declaring my N1 retired. I even bought a Sensation in preparation to that sad moment.
Long story short, I swapped batteries 2 days ago and all my issues disappeared as if it was magic. Now I'm at 60% battery, with 3G on all day, and it's been 13 hours on, yesterday was similar. The phone has never overheated again since the battery replacement, and has been as responsive as I can remember, and mobile data has been somewhat faster (I blame my carrier for sucky speeds).
So, if you are experiencing weird hardware issues like mine, sudden changes in behaviour or just plain sucky battery life, it might mean it's time to get a replacement!! my battery lasted for about 2 years, and that's a very very good run.
Also, a bad battery was most probably the cause of the other components going bad, since i guess it didn't provide a stable supply of power.
Now I'm in love with my N1 again, and don't know what I'm gonna do with the Sensation I bought in desperation!!
Just sharing my story, maybe it can help somebody get their N1 back on full working condition.
Soooo agree!
I recently got my Nexus from my Dad. He blamed it for many things, included sudden reboot and overheating. I tried a bunch of GB roms, even stock (on which I even can't boot in with SIM on) and then I thought of the battery's fault.
As I can't find an OEM one, I just pick a new chinese battery, a SCUD 1420, the brand is kinda well-known as a decent battery replacement in town. Well, the battery life isn't that good, but now my phone hasn't reboot since then. Especially now when I run ICS, very smooth for an old N1
Still, could you tell me where did you get your battery please? I'm looking for an OEM that has better battery life.
Viva el N1
I bought from this seller on ebay. At least my unit looks ok (not exactly like the original battery that came with the phone, but very close).
it's also quite cheap, considering it revived my phone.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/33046584691...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1849wt_1189
mine gets a little overheat (debug mode even shows "overheating") when charging the original battery.
and since it was new, the touchscreen does not work if the screen is on for a long time while charging.
just got a new 3.2A/H battery, it haven't solved the touch screen the slightest
still not showing overheating though... but the original one showed even when it was new.

Thinking of switching to a S4 from a LG-G2

I've had my LG G2 for about 11 months now and love the phone. The two issues that are starting to bug me are -- lack of removable battery and that a lot of the LCD's seem to be frying on KitKat 4.4, which doesn't bode well, thus I've remained on 4.2.2 as it's been pretty much trouble free for me.
Although I loved the LG G2 battery life when I first got the phone (I could easily go 2 full days with about 15% to spare), I'm finding I'm down to around 45% life after one day, meaning I usually need to charge it at night, or make sure I'm near a charger the 2nd day. Not to mention, if I'm out during the day and end up using my phone a ton (Hiking, using the GPS, hotspot, etc), I don't have an easy way to recharge it. Although this hasn't been *too* bad, there's been a few times where I've gotten really sticky and gotten home with 5-6% left.
I figure the LG G2 - Galaxy S4 would be a reasonably fair trade on the open market -- and I'd get a 32GB SD card for the S4 as well. Anyone have both? I know the S4 has the 600 series CPU instead of the 800, but I really don't game that much on my phone. Just stupid piddling here and there.
Thoughts? I know I'd get a Qi charger ASAP as I love wireless charging on my LG G2

Unsure of which new device 6P or V10? Help me!!

As the title suggest. I am in need of a new phone. I current have an LG G3 and I love it. I drive for UPS so when I'm on a blind route I need to have a long lasting battery for GPS. Plus i stream music all day long (at least 10 hours). With the G3 I tend to swap batteries at about then 8 hours mark if not the 9. I know with the 6P thats not possible. But I do have a battery pack I can charge it on. Which i hate doing but if it can charge up fairly fast. like 20% in 15 minutes or so thats great.
The V10 i've been reading so many reviews of horrible battery life, some even saying the battery is done after 5-6 hours. But it is a removable battery so not that big of a deal, but 5-6 hours is crap.
So help me out here. Which one do ya'll suggest...and yes i know I'm in the Nexus 6p group, but you're all XDA'ers and I'm sure you've all used a multitude of phones.
How much juice can the 6P soak up from a 2.1 volt or amp..never remember what it is, battery backup in 15-30 minutes time?
how long are you getting out of a full battery after you root, rom, customize your 6P?
I've noticed there is no real "following" in the V10 development thread. So thats also a bad mark for the V10.
The 6p will be done with 6hrs SOT. Actually, running GPS and music, even with screen off im not sure you can hit 8 hrs regardless of ROM or kernel. That's a tall order, GPS kills battery on any device.
Why not just charge it while using it with a DC charger?
6P all the way. I have the 6P and my brother has the V10 and my phone blows the V10 outta the water... His phone is dead by 11am and the poor software makes the phone slow. If anything get the G5 if you're set on LG. The 6P is the best phone I've ever owned. From iPhone 3g, 4, SIII, note 3 and 4. My only con would be the camera and it's difficulty in focusing on close objects (could be user error!)
I owned the v10 and battery life is weak. Go with the 6p and you won't regret being stuck on a locked bootloader ( if you're not using the T-Mobile variant) you have more options and the front facing speakers blow the v10 out of the water
maybe you should get the s7 edge, it has superior battery life than v10 and n6p, but is fragile. also i am getting 2-4 hrs sot on n6p no matter the rom or kernel , with 3g on all the time.
thanks guys. i cant charge the phone while using it thru DC because no sockets in the trucks. i wish they would start installing those things but no luck. its gotta be a battery pack.
ive never been a samsung fan.
Don't get the V10.. I had the G3 and was in love with that phone! It had everything I wanted in it, but got fed up with not having a "pure android" phone so got the 6P, my first Nexus device. My buddy just got a new phone around January and love the V10, but started running into issues with the battery. It wouldn't charge properly, the battery port was busted and wouldn't hold the charger in place so he had to get a new phone and when it came in the mail it always randomly reboots. So not sure if he is having bad luck or if the issue is with the first generation of that device.
Wouldn't touch an LG device right now. I loved my G3, and my G4 was just replaced with a 6P. Terrible battery, bootloops and wifi is terribly broken on the G4. not the same phone as the V10 but close enough. LG is having tons of issues right now
I had the v10 before I bought my 6P and hated that phone with a passion. The screen would have weird colors, battery life sucked, and the dev community for it is lacking. I highly recommend the 6P

Anyone switched directly from the G3 to the V20?

I have the G3 and the battery life is not bad. I'm debating between the pixel and the V20. I'm curious how the G3 battery life compares directly with the V20. I know everyone is interested in sharing their battery story and if you have another phone you want to talk about I'll be happy to start another thread. It doesn't help cover my question if people are switching from the G4 or G5 or note or a vibrator or an iPhone... I have a G3 so that is the only frame of reference that will mean anything to me.
It's about the same. Traded in my G3 for the v20 and so far the only thing that's great is the audio on my headphones. Dropped calls and bad LTE connections along with some lag have made me consider taking it back.
OMG get the v20! Switched from the G3 and guessing double the battery life after a week of use. Much better LTE signal strength with fewer dead spots. Killer audio, camera, and love the always on screen.
Looked at a pixel but for the extra cost of about $250 on VZ plus getting the removable battery and SD card I was down for the v20.
This phone is killing the G3. Battery life is waaay better. And I had Greenify and Amplify on my G3. It was rooted and booted but this V20 is 2 steps up without root. Probably get a day and a half once root comes out. Jk. Lol.
THanks for the response - the reason I ask is - I've turned off a ton of apps I don't use and get very good battery life on my G3. I have BT on 24x7.
It has been 24 hours since my last charge - I have 62% battery life remaining. Talk time 1.5 hours - normally I use my phone about 4.5 hours a day - I use it as my office line for tech support.
Anyone here use their phone as a phone a lot?

Basically my phone on standby I have black and white on cause I used it last night and its better on the eyes I just haven't turned it off lol
I too switched from my very loyal/dependable G3 to the V20. I've had the V20 since Oct 29th and I can say without reservation that it blows my old G3 away. I was running Resurrection Remix ROM on my G3, and the V20 still smokes it....regardless of no root/locked bootloader. The only thing I miss is the CM13 theme engine/Layers...but I still think the V20's responsiveness and features make up for it.
I am on Verizon and I've noticed that the signal strength is much better on the V20 compared to what I had on the G3. So far, I am confident that I made the right choice. Also for me, battery life is much better on the V20 and that is with its little 2nd screen on the entire time.... I average a day and half to 2 with moderate to heavy usage. My old G3 would only last about a day.
I did seriously contemplate the Pixel XL, but when I finally had one in hand and compared it to the V20, it was a no brainer for me.....removable battery and expendable local storage sealed the deal.
Good luck with your decision(s)....
I only just changed to the V20 yesterday, so far so good. I will still keep my G3 , it still holds its weight when comparing to other handsets on the market. Though the 2Gb ram was starting to show it's not good enough anymore with android 6.
I just got my V20 today and i have to so far I am loving it over my G3, idk about battery life yet as I killed the battery during setup and restoring my apps.
Thanks for your replies. I look forward to your opinions on the battery.
Well I still have 2X LG G3 and 1X Samsung galaxy s4 . But because my LG V20 came defective from factory i had to return it, but for the short period i used it, i can say it is way better than the LG G3 on Every aspect without exception! (im still waiting for my new LG V20 to come (STUPID BACKORDERS!)) The LG G3 >rooted with AICP or Resurrection Remix would last about 18 hours with screen off, and 3-4:50 hours with screen on device in normal usage, not heavy such as Youtube video on 1440p. Yet with the LG V20 with screen off, i lost about 1 percent every 4 hours with screen off . and screen on i got 6+ hours of normal usage. (i have 35 user apps installed on my LG G3 and also had them on my LG V20, many of them were constantly synchronizing such as package tracker pro, zooper widget pro, among others)
My V20's battery life is just about exactly what I was getting with the G4 and the G3.

Bummer - but good to know. I'm hoping the Motorola ? or Lenovo P2 come to Verizon soon as I'll need to make a decision soon. I know it a fancy recording device is important to others but I use my phone to make phone calls 95% of my use time is phone calls. Maybe 5% of the time I'll check email or text and once in a while when travelling use GPS. So cameras and recording don't matter - call reception and battery life are king for me. They both have similar thickness to the V20 but include a 5100mah battery!

If battery life is king, then the Moto Z Play is the phone you want.

Thanks - same company but it has a 3510mah battery. I'm going to guess the new model with the 5100mah battery will last longer.

Maybe. Depends on other factors. Pretty much any review you read will say that the Moto Z Play can last days. I've seen reports of 7 to 10 hours of SOT. That's without the battery mod.

I don't know if the P2 when released will have a Verizon option so I'm still hoping to find something with good battery life worth upgrading to without wasting an upgrade. I'd also love the ZenFone 3 Max which only has a 4100mah battery.
