[Q] Sol Republic - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any drivers we can install on our Android phones that would enable the volume buttons on Sol Republics or even Beats (but mainly Sol Republics) to work on our Android devices. Is it just me or does anybody else think it's sketch that Motorola makes Android powered cell phones but their headphones only work for Apple products?

I'm curious about this too.

How to send files via bluetooth

Hi,
I have recently purchased a HTC Hero.
I am not able to find how to transmit files or contacts via bluetooth.
My last phone, HTC Tytn, could transmit contact information from my phone to my carkit (parrot). I am now looking for the same functionality on my Hero.
Anybody has any tips for me?
Regards,
Webster188
Unfortunately you can't at the minute. There are a few apps in the market that you can download (search for "obex") which claim to work but they are all a bit hit and miss. I think your hero needs to be rooted as well.
Yep, this is currently not supported even by a rooted Hero.
However, it is fully supported within Android version 2.0, which the Hero will be getting as an update before too long. So thankfully, we too soon will be able to send and receive files like any old crappy Nokia..
Out of interest does anyone know why Android and the iPhone have struggled with this? It does seem really silly!

Well, when the G1 came out back in Oct'08, much of the Bluetooth support had been pulled from Android 1.0 as Google had not finalized the API. (see here)
Jump forward over a year, and it would appear that this is still the case!
As to the iPhone - I guess Steve Jobs didn't want it!

Dave

I believe it's due to the fact that the standard 'handshake' protocols and the like had not been defined in the bluetooth spec. Android and iphone felt it best to wait for the spec to be finalised. Most manufacturers went ahead with there own version. This is why it's sometimes a pain to get your bluetooth car kit etc to work properly because they are all slightly different. This may be why Android and iphone held off as they didnt want people moaning that it didnt work properly. Now of course we are all moaning that it doesnt work at all! I don't know if the spec's are now sorted or Android have just decided if you can't beat them join them.

Dear Samsung software developers

It's for samy engineers, not for the sad users.
1. If in device specification you say that it has WiFi - please make it work.
2. If in device specification you say it has GPS - please make it work.
3. just look what OCTY had made with his application, or HTC with quick gps application, please do not play with user interface, but make your hardware WORK
4. If I want have Iphone, I will buy Iphone. If I buy Android, please do not make it Iphone AKA touchwiz. It's not ugly, but consider about storage space that I'm paying for. If I will need TW or some samy widgets, I will download them. But If you will implement them, I can not uninstall them. (only with root)
5. If some older Galaxy has prety good LCD resolution, please do not make new version of Galaxy with WORSE screen resolution. Yes, I agree - we can buy more expensive phone with HD resolution. But we can also buy a phone from your competitor for the same price and with better LCD resolution.
6. Firmware again. Why in european software release we have nortamerica GPS settings ? Why do you promisse Android 2.2 and you not make it ? As far as I know samy policy you will always come with new technologies but you will never care about the older devices. That's why you are not Apple but you are Samsung.
7. I'm not agains Samsungs. Do not take it wrong. I have samy tv set (The same with FW, you do not upgrade the old models even if the hardware is the same like old models) and more Samy devices. Because I've thought that DNLA at home is a good idea. (So I realy spent many money for you - but also many, many time to fix your software)
8. Good idea will never work out if you make great hardware (LCD, TV set, mobile devices) but very very bugy Firmwares without support.
9. Your devices have GREAT parameters on the paper. But we can not use them on maximum because of many bugs. Please just release your enginers and implement clean android to your phones and believe me, may be I will give you the chance again. But not with touch wiz and bugy GPS **** without support and nor upgrade.
10. If you are not an enginer of Samsung, please forget it or forward it to their "support & development" department. Thanks.
11. and at the end, finaly I was forced to buy another device just for GPS. Because I can not use this phone and believe it like I use to with X1, or TYTN II.
I agree with you on all points..
Except on the point where you say that Samsung is not Apple. Apple can support their old devices because they only have 4 or 5 devices to speak of.. I agree that Samsung forgets old phones, but you can't compare them with a company which has only 4 phones...
but this is the way how a company gets users to stay with them, imagine apple doing all those restrictions they do AND giving a **** on older phones, who do you ti´hing would have bought the iPhone 4?
i guess nobody at all.
regarding Wifi, i think most of us have working wifi on the SG3

Up to date...
so I've got an answer that my email (I've sent to Samsung an email) was forwarded to developers.
Why I was so pissed up ? Because I have a samsung TV set and they realy do not support the old ones. And when community had developed something what helps, in the next release of their update they blocked all possibilities to make the TV set better (new widgets, TV Stream, internet browser in it, etc..),
so this is Samsung.
Nowadays we have european leaked version of 2.2 where GPS is still not working and during a calls you have a "click" (even in JPA).
I do not understand this "support".

[Q] Port Playstation Software

It potentially possible to port the playstation software from the Xperia PLay to other phones. It could be functional using the PS3 controller via Bluetooth. Making virtually any android phone a small screen playstation.

I was actually wondering the same thing... I'm wondering how Sony is going to implement their games. Will they just make them .apks that use the hardware buttons, or will it be something more? If so, could that something more be ported and given on screen controls (like the current playstation emulators).
It's an interesting concept and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one wondering this.
I have the same question. Would it be possible??
I am not a dev. Just a heavy Android and Playstation user (with just a little money to buy a new phone again.....)
No need to port as its coming out for android tegra 2 devices. so more then possible. But in reality only "playstation certified" devices will officially support it.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Hmm... I don't see Sony making something they know can be used on other devices. If they are using some kind of psp emulator app... I think they will do their best to have it only work on the play... I'm just hoping somebody will be able to bypass that.

there are 2 mobile phone standards in the world, apple's method, then a standard method. all manufacturers support the world standard, which works with SGS2 and the mic works as well as controls. but the apple method only works with apple devices.
for example research the bose MIE2. it comes in 2 version, one for all smartphones, and an apple version. make sure you buy the right version.
so your apple headset is not compatible with android phones.

Sky Go released for Android....

However the tab isn't on the list of compatible devices...yet.Tried it on my HTC Sensation & it works very well, just need it working on the bigger screen....anyone hacked it?
i'm not seeing it in the marketplace.
I read it only supports 7 phones! 5 x HTC and the Galaxy S and SII
Don't know what Sky are thinking! Its been out on IOS for over 2yrs, pull your act together ffs Sky!!!!
You can only see it in the Market if your phone is compatible, I downloaded it yesterday to my HTC Sensation. It doesn't support routed devices either!
