Thats normal, is the autofocus sensor, it does that when the camera is off, try it with the camera app open and it should not rattle, because is in use.
S3 and S4 are the same

How often are you shaking your phone for that to actually bother you, though? lol

Noticed mine rattles too. Also notice the rattle when I tap the top part of the touch screen. It's quite annoying tbh.

Lol sorry I have a really bad ear for things like this at least we can say its normal lol

I just posted about this in AT&T S5 forums. It is very annoying, but it doesn't do it at all when the camera is in use. So its normal. Guess its just part of the new ISO cell technology.

i get nose from the front cam

I never noticed this either till i read this forum.
my noise also goes away with the camera on...very interesting....

Very annoying isn't it lookingnon the forums seems common so normal but still annoying

so it's a software issue? I noticed this on Day 1 when I received my shipment on Thursday! This is very annoying! My S4 never did this! Only on the top part of the phone.. really odd. How can the camera cause a hardware rattle? really weird.

It really is annoying now.. I noticed it at first when I was tapping on the upper part of the phone. It also happens when we shake the phone as it is now confirmed.

It is pretty common in smart phones, my Nokia 1020's Optical Image Stabiliser's ball bearings would also rattle when not in use.

Well, my task this weekend was to go to some dealer's store and test the S4's camera on the display units.. (I9500 as there's no I9505)...
I noticed the difference in between these 2
Faster focus and capture on the I9500
Less blurry shot on the I9500..
My I9505 really outperformed by the I9500 and I am kinda a disappointed I9505 user now after all I read good reviews.
I am sure something must have gone wrong with the I9505
P.S: The plastic is for sure being removed and outdoor daylight my I9505 has crystal clear picture but not when indoor even when you have good lighting..
Rear facing camera not working
My sister just got a i9505 from the UK.
The rear-facing camera doesn't work, meaning that it's just showing black, but you can still see the on-screen menu buttons.
The front-facing camera works fine.
I tried to ODIN back to stock, but it failed since the device came with a locked bootloader.
I restored it to the latest stock firmware using Samsung KIES, but that didn't make a difference. Any suggestions before I have her send it back for a refund?

Whoa now...

OK, so when did my phone start beeping when I rotate the screen. Like when it goes from portrait to landscape, it beeps. Never did that before... Ever

Haven't heard that sound but I did notice my phone now makes a sound when I turn off the screen, which I don't mind. It must've come built into the MF9 update, perhaps your new sound did as well.
Strange part is, I've been on mf9 since day one. This all started around 7pm or so today... After changing nothing at all. No settings changes or anything. Just really odd.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda premium
So getting rid of touch sounds gets rid of the beep. Anyone experiencing this like me? Makes the same beep as plugging in to usb/charger every time the screen goes from landscape to portrait.

Never heard of that one. Unless you have the screen touch sounds on and are somehow touching the screen when you are rotating it.

[Q] Camera issue

Hi,
When i take pictures with the note 3 i noticed some black bars on the screen and processed pictures. This mostly appears to happen when focusing. Not always, but mostly on low light situations.
So i returned my note 3 a couple of days ago and received a new one. I couldn't believe my eyes when the exact same thing happened with the new one.
So i want to ask you all to look closely at your screen when taking a photo in a comparable low light situation. You have to seek for it but it might happen. I managed to take some photo's of this phenomenon. See the photo's in the dropbox link.

Thanks so much !
Did you took off the plastic film on the camera lens ?
This happens when you are connected to wifi. Vertical black lines.

You can hear this sound when you shake the phone in many different smartphones (iPhone included). I am not sure about it but I have read many forums over the years saying that it is not a flaw at all and it has something to do with the camera lens.
My advice is that if your phone is ok don't pay attention to it.

but it can break the lens if I shake continuously ? I mean in daily use, it can shake without I realize, when I put it in my pocket when I walk, when I put it in my car when I drive. yes, like you said, when I open camera and I shake or knock on side of the phone, this sound reduced. thanks for your response

I had read as I remember exactly the opposite of your fear about it. They manufacture it loose just to give the camera space to perform in order not to malfunction.
Put your phone near your ear and open the camera app. You will hear a soft click in the camera area [emoji6]
In other words there is no way camera will break if you shake it even intentionally.

Guys had my phone for about a week.
Im not too sure if this has been happening since i got it or not..
But if i gently shake my device it feels like something is loose around the camera module or in the camera
Can anyone confirm if this is a known thing?

That's normal. The rattle you hear is the auto focus mechanism moving. My S5 does that too as do several others.
