Hi.
I'm looking for the best kernel for Nexus4 stock ROM 4.4.2.
I tested meny kernels and everyone have some problems.
One is freezing display, ather is draining battery or restart nexus.
I have no idea which one is the best form me.
I don't play games.
Usually I'm using Nexus to talk, WiFi, navigate and call by SIP client.
Stability and saving battery is very importent for me.
Temporary I returned to Franco Kernel r199.
It's work good but not the best.
Which one of all kernels do you suggest?
Try matrix. I am using that for a long time

From what you say: hellscore or matr1ix are the best for ya. :good: Test these 2 and go for the one that suits you the best.

HellsDoctor, guaranteed 4hrs+ SOT even with light gaming (Subway Surfer, Hill Climb Racing)

Hellscore and HellsDoctors were OK but now battery is down after 6-7 hours.
I don't know why.
On Franco kernel r199 I can use My nexus even to 20h.
Today I was upgraded My navigate app (1,8GB) by WiFi and now I have 60% battery and 11h using Nexus.
WiFi and 3G is always ON.
GPS is On when necessary.
I'll try matrix and moob.
Best kernel threads are not allowed. As you can see, you have several posts with as many different answers, leaving you with the exact option had you not even created this thread: go read the kernel threads and search and try them for yourself.

I dont care much about customization. I just want great perfomance and good battery life. It is really hard to choose a rom because all of them feel almost the same? Thanks
I use rasbeanjelly with trinity kernel currently at 71% with nine hours on and two hours fourteen minutes of screen time I've gotten two days with five hours screen time before and still had about 25% battery left. That's with wifi on off while tablet is asleep, location services on, and two email accounts on sync. I got some slightly better time on Franco's kernel but I had to disable location services to stop SoDs I read that a voltage bump might fix that. Making it worth another look. As always try around and see what works for you not all of these tablets are created equal.

You have to try them out for yourself and decide.
I personally like SmoothROM with Clemsyn's Battery Saving kernel.

So I have had my Nexus 4 for 7 exact days, was suffering from a terrible battery life of 1:30 hrs MAX screen-on. Until I flashed CM10.1+Franco's latest kernel and my phone has a 3:30 hrs of screen time on ! - I tried AOKP with Faux and some other rom combinations...Any one can explain why?
And clearly the battery life on WIFI surpasses the one on 3g.
It probably has a lot to do with the "msm_hsic_host" kernel wakelock that is present on the stock kernel. Flashing to either franco or faux kernel is supposed to be a great way to fix it and increase battery life
Because Franco Kernel is like magic?
Edit: oh hey! you're the same guy from yesterday I suggested Franco Kernel to and pm'd me for additional tips

1:30 screen time Max? Damn.... Do you use your phone as a satellite? And WiFi IS ALWAYS better on the battery than 3g, that goes for any phones.

I suggest using https://play.google.com/store/apps/...yLDEsImNvbS5iaWdleWVzMHgwLnRyaWNrc3Rlcm1vZCJd with those kernels. I use Franco's paid app but Trickster is a good free alternative!

Thanks for the suggestion. Tinkering with phone settings is not in my priority list, but knowing what the kernel is doing with my phone is definitely useful if I decide to tinker later.
And free phone state knowledge is priceless (as in it has no list price :cyclops

Not sure if it has the ability to disable logging and events (i think it does). You can disable those two features for better battery life (very insignificant but every bit helps, right?) and you can disable fsync if you choose to (more IO speed, less stability mainly if your phone was to randomly reboot).
Plus the free color changing is always nice to have.
3 to 4 hours with screen on is normal battery life for a stock Nexus 4.
It sounds like you were running something that was draining the battery.
When you updated the phone, the new ROM turned off the culprit.
The battery drain is not necessarily caused by an app, it could be one
of the Google services or bad reception. Even changing the phone's default
settings can result in much better battery life.
This might be a stupid question, but could switching from stock kernel/ROM fix my antenna radio reception bull**** issues?

i don't care about gpu or overclocking my device.. all i want is to unplugged the n4 form charger and go working in the morning and at night before bad to put it back in the charger - without it dieing on my before..
i had htc sensation and it last all day for me, i'm now 2 days with the nexus 4 , and after 12 hours the battery is dead.
i'm currently using Cyanogenmod 10.1 18/2/13 nightly . turn off locations, and Facebook sync. using only automatic brightness (witch my the way is very low), WiFi and gps and Bluetooth always off . 3g on.
thank you!
Usage varies across any ROM/kernel combo. No one can really say what's best, because everyone's usage varies. But, I can and will say, I'm having best battery life so far using asylum nightlies with matr1x 7.0 kernel. I have a very strict setup which I'm not getting into, but I am in no way limiting the function of this powerhouse. If that makes any sense. Currently sitting at 63% with almost 3 hours screen time. 50/50 3g/wifi and heavy use. think streaming, gaming, downloads. It would take me a very long time to describe what I do to get this battery life, but I would be willing to explain if needed.

I recommend AOKP build mr3, and Harsh's kernel. No need to tweak anything, everything is done for you and you get great battery life. Just my experience from it.

I'm using paranoidandriod with Franco kernel. I get great battery life all the time every time. Download the kernel and leave the settings as is and let it do it's thing.
Note: This has been asked too many times. You can search up the old ones and you'll pretty much get the same answers that it all depends on what you do. Battery life is subjective. It depends on the user. If someone only uses their phone for calls and text they will get awesome battery life. If another person has the same setup as the first they did play lots of game and play videos and such, battery life would not be so great. Thus, both users will tell you different answers.
Just try them out and see for yourself.

Hi Im an user from nexus 4 since 2 months ago .
since the first day i rooted and change my rom.
i used to use cyanogenmod 10.1 RC2 + Franco Kernel M2 or 134 these days.
when i updated the franco kernel my battery began to drain too much even when the phone was idle. so my battery died in less than 10 h!!!
so i come back with CM kernel and right now my battery is during like 1 day!
im thinking in use rasbean + trinity kernel but i dont know if i should to use faux, semaphore or other one.
i just want my phone to use social apps, calls and i wanna take care of my battery.
what do you recommend me?
Thank You!

You won't get a proper answer to this because the question is completely subjective and experiences vary from user to user. It's the same as asking someone what the best colour is, there simply isn't any correct answer. I'm sure if 10 different people replied you'd receive at least 4 different suggestions.
I too was trying to only get the best battery solution for a couple of months. I ended up using PA with stock PA kernel because the performance was much more efficient, with improved battery life over stock.
okay thanks guys!
In all honesty I used to drive myself crazy with this question, then I realized that there are simply to many variables that are constantly changing from day to day. Now a days I just rock out and charge when I need too.....call me weird lol

Hello.
I'm looking for a kernel for the Nexus 4 of course with the best battery life.
I almost don't play games, I just need a kernel with gamma control, sound control, and one that would not cause stutter to the device with battery life.
I used Franco r203 and I had only 1:30hr screen time, now I'm trying Franco r203 Plus but it cause stutter and pretty much the same battery.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
I'm currently using hells-Core and have 2 hours of screen-on with 40% battery left.
(Maybe there are better battery-friendly kernels out there, but HC performs pretty well.)
I enjoy Faux Kernel and undervolt 50 and under clock to 1.2 I can make it through a day no worries but this will depend in your usage as well. I do probably medium of everything such as social networking, internet browsing, emails and some games. I usually end the day with above 20%

Thanks, already got Hellscore and its good .
As you would have already known by know battery usage depends upon ROM build and apps and your usage patterns. To extend the battery a bit more you can Hellscore,Matr1x,Piasek kernels...they gave the best battery life for me. Try and let know

Hell score or matrix?which should i use i want to have Hood quality od sound
Both are best but Matr1x retains smoothness for me as compared to hellscore.Flash both and test for yourself
