How can I get rid of the "beep" in S-voice? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I am using S for Switch voice in order to use Google Now, but would like to get rid of the initial alert S-voice gives when you double tap the home button.
Also open to other suggestions that I could use Google now without losing touchwiz.
Thanks!

Use Hardware key to Show Notification Message

Is there a way to map a hardware button to display the Notification popup (New Mail, Voice Mail, Reminder) while in another application? I know you can go back to the Today screen and use the left Smart Button, but I would prefer to do it without leaving that screen.
I currently use SmartsKey and AEButton to remay my buttons all over the place, but from what I can tell neither of them can do this.
Any thoughts?

force close loop; cannot access settings

Hi, an app is stuck in a force close loop. I cannot access the homescreen or settings. Upon reboot it does the same thing. Is there a safe mood I can boot into to uninstall the app? Thanks.
Edit: everything on the phone is functioning besides the home screen. I can longpress the search button and make a Google search which opens the browser. I can press notifications on the status bar which will open that app. Just whenever I try to go to the home screen, the app I installed will force close. Just wondering if there is some remote way to access my installed apps so I can uninstall it. Maybe some way to bring up the settings menu besides the traditional menu->settings. Any help is appreciated; thanks.
The voice search works.. anyone know of a voice command that may open settings?

So I hate svoice and the long press to open recent apps.

Is there a way to swap the double home tap to open recent apps and long press to open Google voice actions which is just so much better than svoice. It would be far more convenient than having to long press to get into my recent apps which is such a great feature but goes unused because I really hate long pressing.
you can disable s-voice launching by going into s-voice and going to settings -> launch s voice and uncheck it.
as for search, the best i can say is use nova launcher and set the long-press menu to voice search.
that is a great idea, i also wonder if this type of mod is possible, i will look into it
Ahh I use apex. I will check for this setting. Thanks for the tip, will report back
, okay, so for anyone who cares. I change the apex launcher home button key function so that it launches my recent apps. This makes it so when I double tap the home key it will go home and then to reset apps. So that is done. I could not change the long home press button binding to anything at all so I created a short cut and put it in my dock so I just created a voice search shortcut and placed it next to the dialer in my dock. This makes it much easier to access the voice search menu. It also lets me not use svoice which sucks. And lastly, I use to place my camera app next to the dialer in my dock, I have now changed it to the pinch in gesture in apex launcher which makes the camera app load really fast and it is very very convenient. I recommend anybody using apex launcher to try this method to open up the camera, you will not regret it

Delay when pressing home button - how to fix.

Since upgrading to a stock Jelly Bean firmware, I noticed that pressing the home button causes a short 1 second delay before it actually does anything. It's enough to be annoying since it slows down returning to the home screen or moving to the default home screen.
The reason for the delay appears to be that it's waiting to see if you're going to make it a double-click. A double click launches the dreaded Vlingo voice control app or Google search dial by voice.
You can remove the delay by installing Advanced Home Button from the play store, and following the "Galaxy S2 hack" instructions within that app.
Now, pressing home instantly takes you to the home screen without the one-second delay.
The downside to this solution is that you lose the double-click functionality on the home button, but most people probably see that as a benefit anyway.
I am not the author of that app, nor do I know how it works or how to reverse it.
Or you can delete both and no more 1sec delay

easy way to do print screen and disable "place finger to unlock" stage

I keep trying to do a print screen by pressing the rear power button and volume down but its very difficult as most times the volume just goes down. never had such an issue with the g4 I had
another thing is double tapping and going in through the draw password.
when double tap the screen it doesnt give you the option to draw the password. I have to swipe first then I can draw the password which is a pita. any way to enable a double tap to go straight to draw password option? why dont this people test these things?
how the hell do I disable google assistant crap "ok google" ?
1. easiest to do the screenshot with the VOL- button just before power.
2. No.
3. not sure as i like assisstant.

This one can be easier, you can use the quick memo ( Aka Capture + Plus )options and it will take screenshots for you, as i believe holding Vol down will do the quick memo screen shot if its on in the settings under ( Shortcut Keys)

This is to keep your code from accidentally being put in during pocked use if it turns on. I dont believe it can be shut off without some bigger edits to systemui

disable the google app from your app settings.

disable the google app from your app settings.
Click to collapse
Or just disable the Google Assistant, if you prefer:
Here's how to disable Google Assistant:
1. Open Google app
2. Tap on Menu (three lines) on top left
3. Tap Settings
4. Under Google Assistant, tap Settings
5. Scroll halfway down the menu, and voila! A toggle to turn the Assistant off.
2. Funny, coming from the G3 I had similar questions. Not sure I need to swipe before entering knock code. Worked fine without on the G3. At least you can knock directly with the screen off, bypassing this, but sometimes I turn on my screen to see the notifications and the extra swipe is an annoyance.
3. Unfortunately if you disable it in the settings, then you lose the "Ok Google" from Google Now. Instead it just prompts you to turn Google Assistant back on. Similarly, if you turn on Google Assistant but don't give it Web & App Activity + Device Information data (which is every app switch you do, every movement of your phone or touch of the screen), then it takes your question but then just *****es at you.
Only workaround I've found for now (probably won't last forever) is to set your keyboard language to English US Virgin Islands, a region where Google Assistant is not yet supported. You might need the root app Language Enabler or some other method to enable that language. Hopefully someone finds a better resolution.
