I think some of these have been posted before, but I just saw them again. I'm just curious as to why a lot of the S5 scores are so low compared to the others that came out last year? Is the random read/write low performance actually noticeable? And could that be just because of their review unit? I remember someone saying that the m8 "cheats" some, but would that account for all the higher scores? And I realize there is probably some thermal throttling, but would that make that big of a difference?
I am really concerned about the random read write performance of the nand used in s5. It shouldn't have been this way. And no, throttling doesn't affect the nand performance.

it looks pretty noticeable as the range between the S5 and top performers are pretty significant.
I want to believe that this is a software fault, but i have a feeling it is not..
Surely if the phone runs smoothly in real world usage then these numbers should not really matter??

That's a concern for me too.
Normally Samsung has very good NAND in each devices, GN3 is a recent example.
I am assuming, we might have different NAND from other vendors or from Samsung itself to meet the initial requirements. It's not the 1st time that this has happened. Need to wait for other reviews as well.

BTW, never look at Anandtech's javascript benchmarks.
I never understood they always use Chrome for Android benchmarks which everyone knows sucks. The benchmark in native browser will blow away the competition.

Thank you Leo. So, do the low scores effect actual performance? I ran the test on my Rezound, and unless I did something wrong, the reads and writes were much faster on my phone. They were so much faster, that I do think it didn't work right. I even changed target path from /data to /sdcard and still fast. Hmm mm.....

I think u shouldnt worry much about the actual performance. The fone is very snappie. Im very very picky about speed but this is the very 1st android fone from Sammy that I didnt have a thought 'bout selling it in the next 2 weeks for another fone to mess with. I want to keep it. And that suprised me,seriously. This and the LG G2. I also love my 5s but its screen is just too small now

The part numbers mentioned in both chipworks and iFixit teardown are quite good.
Chipworks mentions NAND solution KLMBG4GEAC and iFixit mentions KLMAG2GEAC-B0. Both these look fairly good performing NAND from marketing materials.

Anybody knows how to use the new "free laucher"?

Probably not, S-Pen is not specificaly android but Samsung software.
You can track progress here.
The builds have started, they're at letter E at the moment (it's going alphabetical).
The build should be up in about 3-4 hours.
Also don't get your hopes up. Everything is working means that the camera is still lagging when switching back to front, probably crashes on 1st photo with flash.
As usual in CM there's no FM radio, no HDMI out and battery life will probably suck compared to a stock rom. Yay for CM10 anyway. I'm not going to bother after what I experienced on my I9100 and I9300.
I'll post a link to the build when it's done.

Don't count on it. Consider the S-Pen functionality gone as well as multi window support.
You will get a plain CM / AOSP experience. No extra apps, just basic stuff.
Also the camera extra functions will be gone, only basic photo/video recording will work.
I see some builds have failed already from today, I wonder if the N7100 will fail as well. We have to wait and see.
i rather cm add aptx support and multi window than spen features

It's the same version for all devices. As you can see in the bbqlog, there isn't a notice of a new android version. It will be another 4.1.2 nightly .zip which you have to flash and then flash gapps 4.1.2 afterwards (or the buggy 4.2 apps if you prefer those).
We will have to wait a bit until the CM team get up to speed with the new 4.2 sources which have been released only yesterday (hence yesterday's "stable" builds and code freeze for version 10.0.0). Since 4.2 is still called Jelly Bean, and is still 4.x then CM will change version number to 10.1.x, I think since the team consists of experts of the matter we can expect 4.2 builds to come fairly quick. The most important thing is to setup the device tree with blobs and proprietary stuff which nebkat already did! Big props to you!
I9300 is building now, if it doesn't fail I think we're good to go, since N7100 shares lots of dependancies and files with it.

So what do you guys think of iOS 7 - especially in comparison with Samsung and android itself.
It features quite a few things that Samsung and Google had already incorporated:
Samsung (AirDrop/S Sharing features, toggles (before 4.2) etc. let me know if any more)
Google (Flat design, live wallpapers a functional Notification Centre, Self-clearing notifications, proper multitasking etc. let me know if any more)
The way I see it, it is Apple playing a huge catch-up card and I thing it will really benefit the industry - Google are really gonna have to make some good innovations to stop consumers from being wowed by a fresh look that we've been enjoying for a while.
Do you think Samsung will take design cues from Apple again in terms of OS (come on, there were a lot of similarities)? Or do you think they'll stick with what they have? I personally hope they move towards stock Android in design - Holo etc.
And more controversially! iOS 7 or Stock Android with TouchWiz??
And this is related to the GS3, how exactly?
iOS 7 looks better than its predecessors, but it's still crap and that will never change. They've taken the stinky old turd known as iOS 6, polished it a bit, gave it a makeover, but underneath it's still a stinky turd and they've defiled Android by using many Android features and acting like they invented them.

It's related in three ways:
1. iOS7 is used on its direct competitors and so it's important to consider comparisons of software available on both
2. It's going to be interesting to see how iOS 7 runs on the 4S (as they are v.similar products) compared to 4.2.2 (or later) on the GS3
3. Some of these features were made reasonably mainstream by GS3 - e.g. wifi direct
EDIT: at least that's how I see it...
There are forums for Android as a platform I'm sure it'd be more relevant for

2.0
^ This. There's been images going around about it being 2.0, as well as people saying it when they're unboxing the device.
Samsung's always used their own Adaptive Fast Charging mechanism since a Qualcomm solution obviously wouldn't work on Exynos phones.
From GSMArena...
Samsung is still sticking with its Adaptive Fast Charging solution. Frankly, it does a good job topping the 3,500mAh battery in about 90 minutes. There is also support for Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0.

Pretty sure it's only QC2.0 equivalent. In fact, I believe the supplied charger is only 15W.

Question is whether the phone will use the full 25W to charge.

Can I ask, was this supplied with the Snapdragon S8 or did you buy this separately?

That's an accessory when I bought the Note 7. It's a 25W charger they had which I kept. Didn't want to send it back for a refund as I figured there would eventually be other devices that would use it.

I've seen this before. But I don't know (and don't think) it charges the Note 7 at 25W. Still limited to 15W.
Only the Samsung pro tablets charge at 25W.

Back when it had the Note 7 for sale it was a selling point that it would charge the Note 7 faster. Not 100% sure if it was true because by the time I got it the Note 7 were recalled twice. Since they stopped selling the Note 7 they change the verbiage.

That's not even what this is about. The night mode on the camera is what I'm talking about. Night mode to darken the theme is there by default in UI [emoji849]

Maybe I was mis understanding the OP's question but I was thinking it was referring to the night mode addition in the camera. If I'm mistaken then my bad...

Snapdragon DOES NOT HAVE IT. International Models have it
I as well as others assumed the GUI night mode because afer all the post said why did the remove it in the new update... SD Has never had it so asking why it was removed leaves only 1 rational Answer for SD users. I've lobbied and started threads asking mods to separate SD and Exynos. They shouldn't be together. They share a name only. If EVERYONE had their correct phone in their signature, Or stated what model they had with every single post or reply, then maybe threads could stay merged. It shouldn't be up to EVERYBODY to have to worry about all of that when it could be fixed so easily on the forum end. I can think of plenty of "cons" to having them together, I see no "pros" at all to having them together.

Yes I meant Camera Night Mode. Have it with ASD3 but have read the flash one on firmware.science , ASD7 does not have the Night Mode for Camera. I just read that some people are saying this. I am still on ASD3 on AT&T.
Rydah (who is known as u/rydah805 in reddit) has further confirmed that the dedicated night mode is still missing from this build. Looks like US Galaxy S10 users need to wait considerably longer to get their hands on the updated camera app from Samsung.

Do you mean the "night mode" that when you use the photo optimization it turns on? If so, I have it. I took this picture using it.
On ASD7, Snapdragon, US

I dont think so. He is talking about the improved dedicated night mode that came out to the Exynos models last month. But, I think it will come out fast enough to the SD users.

Thats part of my argument on why they should have separate forums. The upgrade timing and firmware are never the same for both phones. They are always different which is understandable, completely different chip-set, it's not the same phone. They are only the same in name and accessories. As u know, SD hasn't even received the camera update yet. We cant assume that because SD7 exynos got it that SD7 SD is gonna get it. If not mistaken, exynos got it a couple of updates ago.

I had the same point of view a couple of years ago when I had a note 8. The forum combined them all since then in one forum.
