[Q] IOroot 25 still not rooted :( - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys...great forum btw!
Was wondering could I pick your brains on an issue I'm having with my G2?
My D802 international version was running JB 4.2.2 which was rooted and with stock recovery.
I updated to KK 4.4.2 via LG Update Tool and all went well but obviously I lost root privileges. I attempted to root again via IOroot 25 and the process appears to run smoothly as it should, but when I use root checker it informs me that I don't have proper root.
I have used both auto and manual and both ways the process appears to go without a hitch but still not rooted....any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Did you run the automatic (.bat) or manual root procedure?

Ran both procedures...both seemed to run flawlessly but still not rooted.

I think you have to go to your Su app on your phone and change the default access to "grant" that's all, and check again if says u r rooted.

Thanks for your reply. I know Super SU is included in the IOroot25 zip file but after I go through the rooting process Super SU is not installed on device...I have to manually install it afterwards.... But still not rooted

Try running the manual once again, worked right away for me...

[Q] UK Lg Optimus L3 E400 Rooting Problem

I have searched everywhere and I think this phone is unable to be rooted. I have discovered the UK version of this phone has a locked down bootloader that will not allow me to gain access any way I try. The phone is running Gingerbread 2.3.6, Build No. GRK39F, Kernel Version 2.6.38.6-perf+ and does not have a su.bin on the phone, nor will it allow me access to put one on it. I get permission denied when i try to remount the partition as r/w. When I try to unlock the bootloader, the phone does reboot but not into bootloader mode. This phone only has a hard reset. No other boot modes (just the factory reset). Chmod/chown will not allow me to change permissions. No matter which application I have tried, I am unable to flash anything to the device, since I can not gain root access. The adb root command gives me an error message as well "adbd cannot run as root in production builds." I know I may be a noob, but I have done a ton of research and have not found anything that will help me. Does anyone has any sort of information that will help me root this device? It would be greatly appreciated!
What programs did you use ?

are you trying to just root or flash custom rom too ?
did you try SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse.zip ?
did you try vroot ? in my signature (guide too)
if you install root browser it will install basic commands on your phone busybox sqlite etc
also check this out it might be your firmware does not support root and you might need to install v10b or v10c kdz

Yes, I have tried every app. The apps I use are pretty much irrelevant though, since there isn't a su binary to request permission from. without the su binary, no app can gain root access.

superoneclick does not work as it requests permission from the su binary, which does not exist. root browser does not work either, as it does not allow me to change permissions or ownership either. chmod and chown in linux don't work either. I get "permission denied" when attempting those commands. I an currently running on v10c, but I can not flash anything, including firmware, to this device either. There's no way to downgrade or upgrade. I get a parameter error when attempting to and then the kdz updater crashes and forces itself closed every time I have tried.
My phone model is LG Optimus L3 E400. I could fix this by change the default.prop file ro.secure=1 to ro.secure=0, but I can't write to that file. It's read-only and I can't figure out a way to change that.
I'm really about to just throw this phone out. I had no clue that some phones can not be rooted and would have no further research before buying this one.
try this

also try this super one click 1.7 and select exploit RAGEAGAINSTCAGE in right top corner (it has proven to root problematic e400's)
please update us on your progress
and worst case scenario we will get you to another version of stock and root then

I don't know what vroot did, but it actually worked. you don't know how long I have spent trying to get this done. so many other programs told me that rooting was complete and didn't actually do anything, that when vroot did, I didn't believe it. I thought i was just stuck with a p.o.s. that I couldn't customize. I really appreciate your hep. Thank you so much!

[D855] Updated to V10E, lost and cannot root

I've recently updated to V10E. I used to have a rooted device with towelroot.
After upgrade (done via LG PC suite), I lost the root.
I tried to root using PurpleDrake, all screen instructions and actions go fine, but the device is not rooted.
Is there a way to root V10E version at all ?
PurpleDrake - Lite is the only method of rooting this firmware at the moment, and it does work.
If you are having issues then either its your pc, or you not following the instructions that is the problem.

What PC has to do here?
What kind of instructions are you talking about?
It's a simple ".bat" file that only requires to press Enter twice, that's about it.
Adb does see my phone, USB debugging is on and etc.
Temproot and Permaroot are being applied fine, no errors or anything. But it just doesn't work.
I can print a screen shot if you want.
By doesn't work what are you referring to? If the .bat file says its applying the files fine then it means it transferred the required files to your phone without error, there is then no reason for it not to be present when you reboot?
How do you know it didn't work?

I updated my D855 rooted with towelroot last night via the OTA update and retained root, apart from having to turn xposed back on. The reports of inconsistent results I'm hearing are really odd. Mine's a 16gb model on ee, what's yours?

I can't install SuperSU nor edit build.prop
Rootchecker says no...

You can't install SuperSU, or when you open super su it fails to find the binary?
I even tried to run your guide to restore the phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-unroot-ota-using-lg-pc-suite-pc-t2802286) and then apply purpledrake but the phone remains unrooted.

that sounds like a separate issue. You do not need to be rooted to install the app from the Play Store, it just won't do anything if you install it without having root. The fact its not letting you install it is linked to some other issue, are you sure you don't have any other SU apps already installed, if you do remove them all first (including SuperSU if you have that installed) and then reboot before trying to download it again.

So originally, when I was on v10b and rooted with towelroot I had super su installed.
After that the phone told me there is OTA available which I immediately tried to install.
Since I also had dpi changed, OTA update failed. With that I lost the root, supersu disappeared from applications.
I then upgraded to v10e via LG PC suite. And now trying to root using PurpleDrake.
Super SU shows as not installed in Play Store. Titanium Backup doesn't see such apk installed.
I dont have any other "su" applications installed.
Any suggestions on how to fix it ?

Try to go to menu > settings > apps and see if you can see the SU app there.
Failing that your best option might be to factory reset and then root.

It's not there.
Also, as I said before rootchecker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=en) says the phone is not rooted.
I assume it doesn't use supersu to check whether it's rooted.
That's the output from console.

never used it before, but I would have thought that it would request SU permissions which would require an SU app.
Did a factory reset and root works now.

[Tut] Gain Back Root on Chickcharney Update! [Easy!]

Hey all OUYAins!
So recently I updated my OUYA to Chickcharney and lost root access *cue crying*
I tried installing RootMyOuya1.1 by WonderEkin but it didn't install. So I snooped around for different rooting methods such as ReRoot script by Eldon McGuiness (You can take a look at his script here).
The method that worked perfectly fine for me was to download a piece of software called Kingo (here). Simply download and install it and connect your OUYA to your computer via USB and click Start Root. Wait for the software to root your OUYA and it will eventually reboot. You should now have SuperSU installed with root access!
I hope this thread helps anyone having difficulty with getting root access on Chickcharney!
I'm assuming the device needs to already have been rooted prior to trying Kingo ROOT? I just got my system on Thursday and since I'm new it forced me to download the Chickcharney update and I can't figure out what the best way is to root my OUYA.
i just got one on friday and the same thing it updated automatically
i use this to root my system it still works
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2350900
my ouya was rooted before the update. yesterday I tried Kingo and it said "already rooted", but I had no root permission. So I clicked "root again" and after a minute or so my ouya was rooted again properly.
Thanks Sn0wdune

I tried that to root it but it said it couldn't find the Ouya. I'm running the latest update Chickcharney on mine. Do I need to wipe it to run the root?

That's odd. Are you sure you have your OUYA connected via USB properly and the drivers are correctly installed?

The driver's wouldn't install because I had to turn off driver signing. I got it working after that with Ouya Toolbox root... even though it was crashing part way through. I had to run the TEST version of Ouya Toolbox and just forced the root and I guess it was fine because it appears to be rooted.

Trying to install update on my VZW Note 3.

I'm in the same boat.. initially did towel root to get CM installed but my laptop wouldn't run Heimdall due to a dll issue I couldn't work out, so I never used root access. The update notification has been super pushy and obnoxious for several weeks now. I didn't realize SU had an unroot option but it looks to be moot?
EDIT: I went into SU and tried the unroot option. It gave a message about some kernals possibly rooting on their own again on boot so after SU closed I chose to start the software update now thinking it would go and do it's thing before the kernals could.... and it worked to upgrade it to 4.4.4
Maybe this needs some testing before I'd recommend it safely as I don't have an understanding of these things like I used to... I didn't even try to make a backup FFS
I'll give that a try thx

Getting problem after rooting

Hi. First of all I would like to thank for helping me in rooting my phone. Today after my exams finished i tried to root using odin and cf auto root and thus was successfull. But now i am facing a problem :-
After rooting super su succesfully installed and on root checker my phone showed that its rooted but after sometime if I open supersu it automatically shows that i have not installed the binary and on checking in root checker it shows that its not rooted. If I restart the phone then its again shows that it is rooted. What do I need to do? Hope to get a help soon

I have the same problem, whats your model? my is E500M
I had same problem with my E500H.
When you root your phone.
Super su gets updated from play store, hence it shows that binary file are missing.
Uncheck auto update apps in play store.
Super su will be working good but it start lagging after that. I don't prefer rooting my phone.
Instead get CM13 for E500H, which has inbuilt root option in developer options.
