Error 7 - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey I've been trying to install a new ROM buy when I try to install the ROM it gives me an error saying cannot install error 7. And I've tried 4 different ROMs.

What's giving you the error? What OS? What flashing tool? What process? Are you using Fastboot, ADB, CWM, TWRP?

You most likely need to update your recovery.

Issue installing cyanogen 7.1.0 stable on nexus s!!

this is the first time i'm trying to flash a custom rom. I can't seem to install cyanogen 7.1.0. I tried flashing the file named "update-cm-7.1.0-encore-signed.zip" using twrp recovery. But I get this error in recovery saying " installing update
assert failed: get prop "ro.product.device" =="
Error in E:temp/side load/package.zip (status 7)
And then I reboot to my stock Ics. My nexus s is running the matr1x kernel. Nexus s I9020.
Has this got any thing to do with the fact that my phone was running the stock ics prior to being rooted?

What is "Error flashing zip (Status 7)"?

I got this twice lately, flashing different ROMs. Does anyone know what Status 7 means? Thanks!

Something to do with your recovery I think. Do you have a custom recovery? If so try flashing a new recovery and then try again ?
Hi, I use the latest version of TWRP. What do you recommend, CWM?
Edit: No, actually I use the last but one version. Will update and hope for the best.

Download "HideNinja VPN"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cryptninja.vpn
Run and activate that, then try reinstalling your Google Now package.
That should work, worked for me on an app or two that was erroring back "package not signed properly".
Thanks finally fixed

Can't install Pandora 4.4.2

I just recently installed CM11 and after the first nightly from the M snapshot I can't install Pandora. I get to the installation in Google play then a -24 error. I have tried side loading it and same error. I also tried to do the titanium backup fix but same thing on both through play and side loading. I did start out with a fresh install, my first install caused a bootloop. The only thing that I haven't tried is a full recovery through the factory image. Any help would be awesome

Sorry, I meant to say try TWRP. I have never had any issues using TWRP.
Will try that. Thanks

No problem here with latest TWRP and stock Rom.
Cwm has some issues though.

Thanks, it worked
TWRP works fine.. thanks..
One more quick question, if I install TARDIS mod patch, will it affect when I move to another kernel on the same ROM?
Kernel patches need to be re-applied each time you change the kernel.
