New update (14.3.A.0.757) now rolling to Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact; fixes KitKat sound bug issue
Sony is now rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat bug-fix, just as it had promised last week. Firmware build 14.3.A.0.757 replaces the previous KitKat build (14.3.A.0.681) and fixes the sound bug issue which frustrated many. The issue related to sounds from the handset being played through the internal, rather than the external speaker.
The update is rolling out across all variants of the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact. We have included a list of regions where it has currently hit right now, however expect this to broaden over the coming days. If you’ve downloaded it, let us know if it fixes all of the issues you’ve had with the new KitKat build.

This is a new build for the Zultra and Z1 family, placed today:
Will it resolve the Kitkat bugs?

It's very easy to install. Download and unpack the archive. Install your favorite compiler (gcc, clang or something else). Compile binaries from source. Build one ftf from binaries and install it on your phone. Vualya, you have new firmware installed.
Seriously, its only source and nothing else, its not firmware.

yes, hradware&HAL drivers along customization for each phones.can be ported from previous releases, there is no huge structural differences between 4.3 and 4.4
Shared this link in the Doomkernel thread, so Doom himself can analyze the .tar package and see if it is anything improved / new in those sources or just like the previous KitKat ones..

Maybe I missed some annoucement... does anyone know if Sony will release sources for 12.0.A.2.254?
Seems to me that development for custom kernels (like Doomlord's) have stalled because there are no sources available.

As I understand it they have no choice but to release the kernel source as it's linux and the licensing requires that it be made available. That said, the proprietary blobs for the cameras, wifi, etc. aren't generally licensed the same way so they don't normally get released, at least in source form.
I've requested Sony to provide the source and they will do that really soon

Nice! :good: :fingers-crossed:
Just out of curiosity:
I had an Xperia Arc. My perception was that Sony released the kernel sources (including proprietary modules and everything else which is necessary to build a working custom kernel) relatively quickly and without anyone asking for it. Has this policy changed, did they just forget in case of the Xperia SP/.254 kernel sources or did I just perceive this wrong?
Finally Sony releases .254 kernel sources

Probably not, the kernel used for 10.1is not related to the Sony kernels as I ported the drivers to a newer kernel version. We already have any changes that may be in the 2.254 kernel and more. (I didn't notice any changes to the Sony drivers).

Finally had a chance to look at them as I got home from work only just before...
Just left my computer to push them today so didn't get a chance to check them but adfad666 is right and not much actual changes changed though which are useful for us.
Just some general CAF / kernel updates so not too important.
A panel driver was updated but I'm doubt we we will use it as our kernel is not based off stock.
Probably not. . Let's wait for 4.3 kernel from Sony as it will be worth rebasing off that
Thanks for the link to sources....

It may or may not, just looking for clues, often times the newer binaries maybe more compatible, I have the LTE 4.3 ftf and the windy 4.2.2 FTF. I've been away from Tablet Z dev since I fixed GPS for 4.2/4.3 aosp roms, and I've redone my hard drive and didn't have all the files.

From the looks of it is is 4.1.2 kernel source update but downloading it to take a peek as it's the latest source code so might be able to dig around to find some useful features we may get or not idk what it will be

Considering 4.2 was 14.1.x.x.xxx, 4.3 is 14.2.x.x.xxx, it's only logical to assume 4.4 will be 14.3.x.x.xxx.
Well the people in Sony love their little updates.. That's for certain
And of course it isn't KitKat.. The build number says it all.. It's a minor update with some fixes maybe! Besides it's only 350 mb.. It can't be KitKat

I tried yesterday to install the Lollipop Xperia Z3 update on my Z2.
It booted and everything looked OK but the touch screen wasn't working.
I created it using PRFCreator and flash it using dual recovery.
If someone have any ideas to make it work please share it.
With my best regards

yes but my point being thay Z2 should have Lollipop fairly soon, there is absolutly no point to porting lollipop to a device thats soon to recieve it.
and porting a firmware premade for one device to another isnt easy at all
that 77 rom doesnt seem to have a Z3 base.
Agreed.
Will you be making a lollipop version of your amazing ROM when the stock update is available?

I'm sure many here will not see this as a "bad bad bad news". Having an official lollipop firmware in a 2.5 old device is more than anyone could ask for. Having a solid 5.1.1 build is better than having the latest build.

I'm not surprised. It's fantastic that we even got 5.1, the Z is so old now. All good things come to an end
But what I am wondering, if someone will port 6.0 AOSP... Not CyanogenMod or other forks, they are always unstable and breaking things. And will take a long time anyway.
