Hi
Actually i am preparing for civil services and have to record every lecture i attend. I owned a canvas hd earlier which did the perfect recording even after the echo in the lecture hall. But recording sound in E7 is not that great.. 3 mic noise cancellation does not cancel much of the noise and all i have in the end is lecture with disturbing noises.
If anyone can help me what to do, that'll be great.
P. S - I've also used easy voice recorder, but that also doesn't help.

I was simply blown away by the audio quality of the recorded voice using Hi-Q Mp3 Recorder on my N7000. Dragon Naturally Speaking (v11.5 on the pc) did not make a single mistake during my one minute test. It should be noted that I initially trained DNS for roughly 4-5 hours when I started using it a few months ago.
Simply incredible and incredibly simple:
- dictate into the GNote from a distance of roughly 10 inches using Hi-Q Mp3 rec.
- share recording via Dropbox
- open DNS on pc and point it to the recording file for (almost) instant transcription.
I wonder if noise cancellation works with this recording program.
Very nice idea! Thinking outside the box there...

That sounds really interesting. Unfortunately I do not succeed in transcribing a mp3-sound file recorded via hi q mp 3. Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12 Premium refuses to do so with the remark, that an mono-audio device at 16 bits is required. Since hi q mp3 only supports at least 32 bits, I cannot transcribe. Can you help?
Many, many thanks in advance

I use ASR app for voice recording.
Thank you for let us knowing this!
Very interesting and good to know because of owning both apps/software!
Just picked up this phone a week ago and I was very sceptical at first. Being a long time Samsung user and a fan of TW I'd thought I couldn't get used to the Sense..
But the phone is still in my hands. Not because of battery life, or screen. But because of the amazing sound out of those tiny speakers. Today I went to a local air show and thought I'd see how the mic's would enjoy some extreme loud scenarios.
As you will here, the One does exceptionally well. I've taken many cell phones to concert events and hockey games that just can't record properly when under anything loud.
This is also by far the loudest I have ever recorded a video before. The video does not do it justice. A F-18 flying that close, I can't describe it. You can feel it in your chest.
Anyways, enjoy!

Wow.... I have recorded airshows with a camcorder that doesn't have the audio quality of that video

WOW!!! I told people who were worried about having a bad mic on this phone to record a jet (in the general forum somewhere), would never have guessed that it would turn out sooo AWESOME!!! Thanks for sharing

Awesome. Guess that dual membrane mic is a heavy hitter . can't believe how great that sounds. Concert recorders will love this phone

Crystal clear. I really haven't record any video on the phone but taken lots of pictures and watch movies on it.
I had the dark night rises gassing on the phone and everyone wanted to see

(Video resolution was edited by the gallery with which I uploaded I guess, original is much higher quality)
I'd beg to differ. Yes, the HTC One records really loud sounds, but for some reason it sounds like the audio is coming out of a plastic cup or something. It sounds hollow for some reason ): I've seen quite a few vids of the One recording audio as well. Not sure why this is though /:
I've had a lot of phones (as you can see) and the One has the best audio recording I have experienced. My brother in law recorded the same fly by with his S2 Skyrocket and it was terrible.
I'll have the S4 soon (phone whore here) and I'll be amazed if it can beat the one in terms of audio recording / playback.

It probably won't record audio that is as loud as a jet plane, but normal recording the S4 seems to handle audio better from what I've seen. For some reason, the HTC One has a weird hollow feel to their audio ): I hope that it's fixable in software ):
I've found the audio recording on the stock video recorder to be pretty low quality and heavily compressed. Is there a way to change this within the recorder app itself? Or it hardware and not software causing the problem? Also, I notice that the sound comes out stereo, but most of the audio plays inconsistently from only one speaker.
You can see [hear] what I mean HERE.
PS: this is totally not a plug . It's just the kind of thing I'd like to record on my phone once in a while and I'd be disappointed if I couldn't find a way to improve the quality.
It plays from one speaker cause it has only one speaker....Except if you mean outside of the phone. You cannot change it from the app its fixed.

Thanks for your reply. I did mean outside the phone. Using headphones or playing the video on another device yields weird stereo issues. I am aware that the two grills at the bottom are for the speaker and microphone.
Might you know of a decent video recorder app that would have better audio quality?

Try Hi Q Mp3 recorder. I have the pay version and it works fine for recording your voice etc. In the options I chose rear mic and it seemed better to me. I did notice that if you are recording voices in the background and not directly in front of the mic that the recording comes out very choppy though. On my old Nexus it was perfectly clear so not sure if that is the noise cancellation messing it up.

I may have found the solution; I forgot that I had Jishnu Sur's camera mod installed (2.5.3). When I reflashed with a freshly downloaded zip, the issues seem to have gone away. I'll keep using it and see if that fixed it for good.
Hi friends. I noticed something today. I record a video in a silent room, just me and my wife. After recording I started to watch and noticed that there is no sound until one of us speaks. There is a sound cut in the video. No background sounds until someone speaks and when someone speaks I can hear all the voices. What can cause this problem? I tried it with lenovo super camera app, stock camera app and moded camera app and all of them has the problem. I tried it with my friends G2 and the result is same. No sound until someone speaks. BUt it is normal when the tv was open or there are much peaople talking in the place. Anyone noticed something like that?
It sounds like noise suppression is working to me.. compared to my One, I think it's great. I have 2 toddlers and this phone does a great job at blocking background noise during conversation.

same problem here with the sound on video recorded.Mybe someone will find a solution for this issue.
yes I too have same problem. The sound keeps cutting in and out whenever there is no talking or loud noises going on. The mic picks up sounds great, especially voices. But ambient sounds are very hard to hear with all the sound cut outs and background noises. Maybe just some faulty units, or something that needs to be addressed in a future update just like on the Moto x.
Nexus 5 has same issues, read a long thread about it this morning. I have the same problem when recording audio, almost like an underwater sounding effect. I think it has to do with the LG noise cancellation algorithm. Not sure of a fix, only thing I don't like about the G2 so far. On the Nexus 5 some folks adjusted the build.prop to turn off noise cancellation if they were rooted and it seemed to work. Not sure how to do that though.

Hi
Could anyone who own the mediapad M3 could comment on the quality of the microphone when recording for instance with the native sound recording app on the tablet? As a musician I'd like to be able to record quick sketches using this tablet but need it to be reasonable quality, as there's no second microphone for noise cancelling I'm wondering how will it sound this single microphone, I'm currently recording on my meizu pro 6 and quite happy with the quality, how would this tablet compare to the microphone on a modern smartphone?
Thank you very much, I appreciate any contribution
It's awesome ..my wife uses it to record her lectures using the recorder app..quite clear and loud ..haven't tested on recoding music yet though so can't comment on that
